@kalabrandmusic : thank you very much for your response & i'm very greatful for the work you & your company put into these amazing Bass instruments! i own the Kala satin red SUB Ubass & i'm extremely happy to be part of the KALA UBass family! this little Bass it's just incredible! ':oD
@kalabrandmusic : aloha mr. Upton, ques: how does the lubrication works on the solid body U-bass nut & can the bass use other short scale strings besides the polyurethane strings? thx in advance, cheers! x0]
@tornmask1 Hi-I don't know if I understand you question but regarding the lubrication a little graphite will allow the poyurethane strings to move more freely thru the nut slot while tuning. It is possible to use other strings on the bass.
@6487upt : thx so much, now understand why in some videos the Kala reps talk about the lubrication on the nut. i was jus a bit confused bout the nut issue so again thank u for the response, cheers! x0]
@6487upt : though i guess it's safer to say that if i were to use other strings rather than the "proprietary" strings that comes w/ the Kala solid body Ubass it would probably damage the wooden holes through string i.e. metal or steel rubbing on wood! also (depends on the individual bassist) is fretless much safer to use rather than the fretted models so that the proprietary string could last longer?
The Kala is interesting, but overpriced. For a $1000 I could buy a bad ass Lakland or a Fender! Traveler Guitar has a TP4B solid body travel bass for half the price.
Who cares? No, but seriously, you will destroy the strings, they're quite rubbery feeling. Maybe if you use felt, but even then, it would probably sound scratchy.
I have really wanted one but i can't find anywhere online that sells the kind that your playing. Could you tell me what website sells the solid body U bass. I have seen them around on youtube so I think they're out and about but I guess I could be wrong.
it's great on jazz but how can i get a rock tone out of this? maybe with some effects?? that's the only thing stopping me from getting one of these babies...and definitely no slapping?
Hi friends, what's the main difference between this solid body type and the ukelele hollow body, (aside from the obvious solid body end EQ)?. To me the ukelele hollow body seemed extremely smoth and warm. Does this solid body has that similar characteristic? Could you explain, since Iam about to purchase one. Thanks. Great instrument.
Very cool! I finally got to play a U-Bass in Denver about a month ago for about 15 minutes. It was cool, but really odd! The solid-body looks really fun.
Somehow this sounds more acoustic than the acoustic ones. Weird.

We will debut these at the Namm show. So they would be available to shops shortly after that.

We dont have a price range yet. We will have an idea by January Namm show.

I like it. Looks so cool! It's not a selectable item on the Kala website yet.
