  • great song but i don't like this album

  • I will be forever an Interpol fan no matter what they do :)

  • Must be very hard, when the finest work you will ever do is your first album

  • hèh_ì_sígñëd_úp_at_füll_tïlt_pøker

    _usîñg_réfèrrâl_codè:_yOU600_åñd_gót_â_600_dôllar_bôñüs

  • Can't go a day without this song

  • i listen to this song every single day

    I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

    BARRICADE

    Amo esta canción!

    La escucho todos los dias

    INTERPOL ES UNIVERSAL!!!

  • I seriously can't get enough of this song. <3

  • wtf is with the voice? it used to be amazing, now he sounds like castrated Ian C.

  • I really enoy Interpol songs, it's kind of great to have a band with so amazing songs.

Actually i made a list of the best of the 2010, and they're my AUGUST SINGLE of the year, check it out.

    Interpol Rocks!!!

  • i think cresendo at beginning is useless but good song ovrall

  • dis da only song i like from interpol da rest i HATE

  • I didn't like this ablum at first but now I love it!

  • joy divison mad good songs. but i like this song <3

  • Meh. Nothing beats their first album. I'll give the new one a whirl though :P

  • I new and old Interpol. They're plainly genius.

  • song is awesome, keep playing it over and over. BARRICADE

  • nice copy beginning from insight...FTW!!!

  • ha! back in 2003 i used to run in the same crowd as carlos d. and i thought he was so cool. this is just pop crap. poop. but i guess its time for those guys to take that route. what are they having kids now or some shit? no more cocaine parties at lit?

  • do you find joy division in it? I personally not...Interpol is popular cos somebody called them NEW JOY DIVISION... it's nonsense...

  • Why do they make always the same song?

  • What a big peace of shit! Interpol is covering Interpol! The last Interpol CD is a big non-sense moment! Fucking disappointed!

  • Thieves and snakes need homes .

  • Fucking awesome.

  • ¡"keep us away" from this song!

  • disappointed, wheres the bass?

  • @WINFIELD32750 u cznt hear it?

  • I like lights , barricade, and the new way to play

  • New Interpol is heaps better than old interpol, I cant believe i like interpol now, Im hanging out to buy this album this song is fucking mad

  • classic interpol, new twist

  • i don't understand the highest rated comments but are you saying this song is bad??!!!! this is not a bad song if you think that why did you search this song?

  • the new album it's not bad...just different

  • @jmyen whats the new album called?

  • @youthlust Interpol - Interpol, same titled.

  • @youthlust the new album is called Interpol!

  • if you liked turn on the bright lights, you'll really not like this new stuff. :(

  • @sussex113 I like both.

  • Muy buena rola! Interpol es my favorita Banda! Saludos de Mexico D.F.

  • New drums, nice, I love the chorus!

  • this is a great song, although i liked their old and darker sound.

  • fuckin amazing, been listening to them for the past 6 years, and it only gets better. ps loved the side project paul (julian plenti) & i miss carlos :[. see you guys on nov.5! :D

  • Hope the rest of the Album is this solid!

  • Not a barricade can keep us away from this.

  • @hightimesbruce sorry just because you might not understand does not make it retarded ! I have to kindly disagree, and i think the lyrics seem simple but he is more of a poet , not your" mass media" tap that ass music!!

  • @alirainful

I understand it just fine. His lyrics are stupid, and the rhyme scheme is lazy. The band themselves have said numerous times that they don't care about the lyrics; that they're written secondary to the music.

  • @hightimesbruce hmmm ....I never really investigated theband maybe it was just wishful thinking on my part..whats a fairly modern band that does not have stupid lyrics??

  • @hightimesbruce Actually paul has said that the lyrics are written abstract so that the listener can decide the meaning for themselves. Doesnt make them retarded by any means just a little more mysterious i would say. IF you want plain to the point lyrics just listen to the radio, its full of mindless rants about pointless sht but you should be able to understand that. Music is art and therefore up for many interpretations. Yours may be retarded, but im guessing it may be the listener.

  • @hightimesbruce i dont care about lyrics either, i listen to songs for how the music makes me feel

  • @Chacha5678

The lyrics make Interpol...take the time to listen to them,

  • @Chacha5678 tit

  • @hightimesbruce eeehhhhh........blow me

  • @myoung109

    ehhhh....no.

  • @hightimesbruce please?

  • 91X (Y)

    yeah yeah

    Rock.

  • This Song

    Makes Me FEEL ALIVE

    A-W-S-O-M-E <33

  • It was and still IS my favourite band. I love them.

  • I really think their sound has matured. This song is amazing and has beautiful melodies. I really really like it and love their new direction. I have more respect for bands like Interpol and the Smashing Pumpkins who go in new directions with each album instead of reusing the same successful formula like Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chilli Peppers (whos latter albums all sound the same.

  • This song is obviously about their movement from Matador to Epic Records, then back. The first stanza is directed at the fans: "I would not leave you without a kiss, but I guess there must come a time..."

Interpol are the "thieves and snakes" that need homes, so they went to Epic Records (I love them, but that's my interpretation)

The blind leading sightless part is about how the band can't possibly speak for you since they can't speak for themselves.

Chorus: Fans not liking the new music

  • But just so you know, I love the band. From TOTBL to OLTA, and now with their self-titled release. They remain one of my favorite snare-heavy, guitar-laden, bass-throbbing indie bands of all-time, and a few attempts to make more money don't bother me. In fact, I'd probably've done the same if offered a deal to Epic Rec. or anywhere else.

They didn't/haven't/won't ever truly sell out.

  • Lights was awesomer.

  • any news on what will be the single yet? or will it be barricade?

  • @ShopliftersUnite I assume it would be Lights as that has the music video and was released first as a free download by Interpol which imo is a good choice, sounds like a perfect song to re-introduce Interpol and let people know they're back ^^

  • Good song but i don't like the chorus

  • @htprost i think the chorus needs a bit more ambient like on turn on the bright lights, that would make it really shine, like it though

  • me neither

  • @htprost

  • @htprost fuck u so

  • this song is amazing<3

  • fuck, that's good!

  • this song has an Antics sort of feel to it... very very good! i hope they turn on the bright lights once again and give us some more masterpieces like PDA and NYC

  • I think it has to be "how much fear can you fabricate" in the penultimate stanza instead of the usual "it starts to feel like a barricade", just to keep the lyrics clean ;)

  • Im a big fan of Interpol but idk still, im not sure about this album , im sure im gonna like it but not at the point to go and buy it , ill have to listen to more singles when they come out :/ ...

  • @KxK96 well you're not a big fan of interpol if you don't go and buy their albums!

  • @JoeyJoeJoeJunior22 i was expecting non-sense and shitty comments like this, Im sorry Sir , but it is the truth.

  • @KxK96 don't disregard my comment and say it's shit, why don't you like Interpol? they are fucking brilliant.

  • @JoeyJoeJoeJunior22 i know , who says i dont like em ? ive been a fan of em for years , since Antics came out ;) and i have the 3 albums with special edition. I just dont like ``so much´´ their new style, i still preffer Julian plentis work than Interpol new songs. Anyway , as i said before , I wont be 100% sure till the new album comes out and untill I listen to all the songs.

    Have a nice day.

  • I think it'll take me a few songs to finally get used to the style of this album (only heard this and lights so far) but Im not "not liking" it. I like it, it's just a little unique. (Course isn't that the definition of Interpol's style?

  • I miss Carlos so much :(

  • I just don't care what you say... I love this song... it sounds like them, sounds like a mature version of their sound and I absolutely love it...

I love Interpol... though it hurt me like hell when I didn't see Carlos at "Letterman"...

  • @caimmizard yeah you are right I miss Carlos, he is the best bass in alternative rock :(, Anyone knows the name of the new member of Interpol? and i'm not talking about the bassist, the other one I don't remember how it's called that instrument xD lol

  • great, awesome, perfect - just interpol

  • i love when they post the lyrics to the songs

  • O yeah......they are back!!!! Interpol rules!!!! Great song.

  • que buena cancion!

  • Great song!

  • Haters gonna hate. Sounds great IMO. EVERY BAND has had some sort of influence in their life that they drew from. Interpol had Joy Division. Joy Division had The Doors. and so on.

  • poor

  • niiiceeeeeeee

  • q recuerdos con interpol...xevere!!!

  • Third time listening to it and its still not settling with me....... not my favourite interpol song by far, i'm loving 'lights' though

  • @rybaker777 same here

  • @rybaker777 i know what you mean. At first i hated this song. but after two weeks i have finally come to like it and now im slowly starting to love it. It has taken a little more than 3 listens for me to like it though heheh

  • wow I love it!!! its awesome!!! great melody!

  • dont talk shit about interpol, just like the real interpol agency, they will hunt you down like the dog you are!!!

    Julian PLenti is the shit

  • @PeepBox

It's true. Lets leave that nasty old dog barking hahaha.

  • @PeepBox you mean paul banks... julian plenti is his like alias name for his other band

  • Joy Division was one of the bands responsible for introducing post-punk music, but as quick as it came, it faded out.

Interpol along w/ other bands became part of a movement known as post-punk revival, revolutionizing the genre and adapting for a new generation.

So if it were not for people like Paul Banks, Ian Curtis would mean nothing to younger people today. Be grateful for Interpol, they are the ones immortalizing Joy Division, not you.

  • @0bstakle1 um excuse me i think i did not get your comment but ... what the hell ? ure getting it wrong , If it wasnt for Joy division , The Pixies and the legacy Ian Curtis R.I.P left us,such amazing bands like this, the killers, U2. cut city chapel club etc..wouldnt have ever existed or be the same. And what do you mean with ``as quick as it came it faded out´´ yea it is true, but the little time they were on stage was enough to touch the hearts of millions of ppl and still do it after 30 year

  • @KxK96 you're only proving my point. I agree with you, Joy Division helped usher in a new genre and opened the door for all those awesome groups you listed.

My comment was for those assh*les that think Interpol is nothing but a mere cover band. That isn't true, and it really pisses me off to hear that. Interpol is as original as it can get, I NEVER heard a band like them. Paul Banks is a genius.

  • @0bstakle1 agreed, but u know what? i saw their new video of Lights in one of those pop random channels on TV. I hope they dont turn into some commercial band cuz that would really piss me off -.- .

    Have a good day.

  • @0bstakle1

post-punk ??? wtf are u sayin' ??? stop sayin' nonsense bullshits man...

  • @GIFrules

Nonsense? What are YOU saying? Does nonsense get 40+ thumbs up? Do some research buddy. Interpol and Joy Division, both post-punk. I've been listening to this music for years.

  • @0bstakle1

ahahahaah yeah yeah whatever...if interpol are post-punk the stone roses are hardcore producers....c'mon..u've been listening to this music for years??? well u should try to open up your eyes man...40 thumbs up= 40 people knowing a shit 'bout independent music...

Ok for joy division but there' s no point on interpol...

  • @0bstakle1 yea true bro after post punk era came the revival which introduced interpol and other bands that made the genre more mainstream, first came post punk then the post punk revival like obstakle said. interpol wasnt part of the joy division era post punk but the new scene which popularized it.and yea true interpol is immoratalizing joy division and recognizing the genre they created

  • @0bstakle1

    bravoo!

  • Comment removed

  • @0bstakle1 VERY GOOD MAN!!!

    CONGRATULATIONS!

  • this doesn't even sound like Joy Division, I really like both bands.

I think The Drums are a lame, gay and crappy band that does try to sound like Joy Division

  • They are not the same anymore...

  • Hello there ,love JD and White Lies and Editors fuck me just like their music you bunch of stupid flying fuck pigs ( sorry could not resist ) but just enjoy the music at least at the moment untill youtube buts a fee on its vids

  • Stop talking everytime about obvious Joy Division influence and enjoy the music.

  • @MustHaveRocknRoll how does this even sound like Joy Division lol

  • @ThenJen they are practically the cover band of joy division. they just do gay sounding dark pop instead

  • @MustHaveRocknRoll

Really.. stop talking shit about Interpol, they're not the cover band of anybody.

They make great music, i could say that even better music than Joy Division.

    Get out troll...

  • @soymemo you're a grimy cock-up! Interpol's generic shit will never come close to Joy division. yankee fuck

  • obstacle 1 2010!!!!

  • slow hands 2010!!!!

  • People just come here hating everything. Do you want Turn on the Bright Lights? Then grab the album and play it, don't listen to this. If this sounded like Turn on the Birght Lights then you'd be crying, saying that Interpol has been making the same music since 2001 and they haven't progressed musically.

  • @panu7

just the same f*ckin thing with green day!

  • I am just listening to this on a loop, and plan to spend the whole day doing the same tomorrow. It's amazing- Thank God!

  • I've never cared for Interpol and the singers voice, but this song is really good (:

  • more pop but OK

  • Oh no...

  • ok ill be honest. i hated this song when i first heard it. but it's truly grown on me. this song has such a unique sound. it's just plain awesome! can't wait for september!

  • what are interpol doiing! these new songs (this and lights) suck

  • Comment removed

  • @Reesy257 way to take the haughty highground.i dont totally agree with him,ive had to ruminate awhile before coming even close to embracing this new material(this and lights took time to like),but you sound like a turgid douche.please tell me what"art"means?cuz i always thought it an amorphous, subjective label, but you know for sure dont you?

i love interpol, but im not a mindless loyalists who'll love anything they do if i dont actually believe it to be great

thats how world war 2 happening

  • Comment removed

  • @Reesy257 so did u find it"self-fulfilling"to respond? lol,i dont see why saying something sucks isnt synonymous with saying it doesnt resonate to someone at all.if the guy says it sucks, then he doesnt think it has that emotive or whatever resonance you describe.i never said you couldnt call this great,i was lambasting u saying he couldnt say it sucks.so u were actually the one acting like he had a monopoly on whats counts as art and what opinion of art is legitimate.

    And yes,this was cathartic!

  • Comment removed

  • @carlo88moe I have no time for you ...sorry

  • @Reesy257 lol...any music can be called art dick, don't go on and say "Oh what i say is art, is art"...he's right if u were an interpol fan during Turn off the Bright Lights u'd say this sucks and we want the old Interpol...Hell the sounds i make on a toliet are art

  • @xDeadMisfitsx you're missing the point too. my point is EVERY piece of music is art. I don't have any authority over anyone, only what resonates inside me. I'm not gonna discuss this anymore as it seems to be about as conclusive as a religious debate. Btw, I've been a fan since I heard the black sessions on the radio. it was all TOTBL (i loved it) *now ill delete my seemingly gratuitous comments so we can all enjoy Interpol in peace :)

  • FUCK!!!! i love me some interpol...i love them!!!

  • This has grown on me so much....

  • The intro is really sick, actually I've been listening to this song since its release. Why are they able to write songs like this? They're f"** great!!

  • so psyched for the new album!

  • greeaaaaattt!!!!!! ♥

  • fuck. its better than obstacle1.

  • @LennyValentino9191 fuck, your a twat

  • @carlo88moe calm down guy

  • loooveee it!!!! can't really wait for their new album!!! :) and tour!!!! :) love Interpol..xxx

  • I ♥ INTERPOL

  • OMG! is awesome like all about them! i

  • YEAH!

  • Really lovin this cant wait for album release on Sept 7th :-}

  • tan solo una ves de averla escuchado yaz mela se!!!! de verdad que interpol es realmente lo unico :)
