  • Too many ignorant comments i'm afraid here. Lack of understanding. Mark Rothko's legacy his paintings ... Are a true gift to humanity. At first glance one sees big formats in plain colors. But in real they're are dozens of hues and other colours that produce a haze effect a dream kind of vision. It is not tje

  • but way before rothko there was money and critics involved

  • Rothko was in serious need of anti-depressants.

  • @rugbydeprofundis im on those hey dont always work...

  • This series on Rothko is amazing. Thanks for posting it.

  • no galleries, no collectors, no critics... no money.

  • mark rothko is a genious, troubled indee..he makes a great commentary on how the decadent upper class of american society is trully the culture losers they buy culture and depth without ever knowing what it is in the first place...awe inspiring and dead on

    Spare me.

  • is woman aware that we all die?

  • 1:07

  • 6:03 can you say 2001?

Oh come on like that never crossed your mind when you saw that?

  • @spectre111 They did it even more deliberately in Part One. "2001" and Rothko have a similar purpose, I feel.

  • 3:09 What a great artist...

  • And who are you to say it?

  • A person with an opinion.

  • Bless your heart.

  • Wow, the actor who depicts Rothko is a dead-ringer.

  • Absolutely. Good call. Kind of eerie, isnt it.

  • It is errie. Indeed all the more so, given that this program must surely have had a very limited budget and resources; and so one wonders if the casting of an actor of such uncanny versimiltude is a case of equally uncanny serendipity.

Then again, perhaps he's a relative of Rothko; a nephew or something?

    Does anyone know?

  • on the contrary the BBC funds its programs quite well, all its documentaries are top notch:)

  • I don't think the budget is so small as you may assume.

  • your right,, only if he was a little skinnier
