  • i take it you got the idea for an XRV from a book that was out years ago called escorts 123&4 ,a still have the book and remember seeing a ford mock up of a van they were thinking of putting in to production but never did ,cheers

  • @kevrs2 Correct!

Book was by Jeremy Walton i think?

Yes, was a shame they did not mass produce the XRV i think it was to be like a sports utility vehicle, if you remember they made a Mk/43 Fiesta van XRV in the early 1990s, that is a rare beast now!

  • @mk3stargazer Ooops i mean Mk3/4 fiesta!

  • 1000% love it, "scoob dooby dont" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • kewl! *****

What bastard marked this down? Freeman or zorac I bet.

  • hey mate just brought it home today have a look at my vids, she will take a bit to be how i want her but should be good fun

  • loving it mate, just bought myself a MK1 gonna resto that looking forward to it. yours turned out ACE

  • Mk1! a rare beast! hope you will upload some vids!

  • yeah, got it cheap too, im thinking of painting her a shade darker orange than this, mate hate to think how much you spent on this, but cant get over how tight this is, best job ive seen on a MK3

  • Cheers! cant really put a price on the whole resto as it has been done gradually over the years to make it excatly how i want it! But it has got to be around £1200 with the new panels, and buying a welder, engine rebuild and turbo kit,and buying a couple of scrappers for interior, brakes and suspension.

It was all done on a budget,my mate gave me the paint and charged £30 to spray it so that saved a huge chunk!!

  • ah fair enough, im saving a shit load on paint to cause my uncle is giving it to me and im spraying it myself, is the turbo worth it? because im gonna be doing a little bit of body work and putting a CA18det through it and wondering bout the turbo

  • thats a well nice van, one of the best i have ever seen. hats off to you well done :P

  • that is the nicest escort van i have seen in a while really really like that (Y)

  • Cheers! Was a lot of effort but i am pleased with it, being so rotten when i started the restoration,i nearly stopped and sent it to the scrappy a couple of times!

  • I was wondering about what the film gonna be about... "Propably stupid guys painted a old car for show off" When I saw closer your Escord, I've changed my mind. This is avesome racing machine. Well done, respect.

ps. Whats the name of the song ?? ;)

  • hi,cheers!

the song is by evanscence, bring me back to life.

  • Thanks ;) I like that tune

  • that comment, ''scooby dooby don't''? is that amid for the Impreza?

  • thanks! yes i love driving it and will never sell it, i will probably ask to be buried in it!

  • This is also looking good ;)

  • haha I was just getting into that and it was over ,v nice van!

  • Nice escort man!!!

  • love it, iv got a ford orion mk3 with fiesta rs turbo engine , t3 conversion, big intercooler , beigg injectors and 195 chip,

but you van is something elce....thumbs up m8

  • i had an escort van but only a white 1.8 d lol it was lowered 40mm front 50mm rear with white old style rs wheels and drilled air box with decat and a turbo was still slow tho

  • that van is class give yourself a pat on the back lad.

  • Very nice van.

    Very retro

  • Great van!

  • hi,if you scroll down the comments you will see the major welding jobs i had to do! was a nitemare but well worth the effort!

  • love ur escort mate ive got 1 my self i would luv 2 have a chat bout ur mods to ur car

  • hi cheers for your comment, the mods ive done are- orion 1.6 engine with machined pistons to lower the compression ratio, ported and polished 1988 spec xr3i head with a fiesta RSturbo cam,a stage 3 turbo running 12psi with a turbo technics plenum chamber covering the weber 32/34DFT carb which has had the venturis opened out,a turbo technics distributor to knock back the timing when it comes on boost, this all runs through a 1984 xr3i gearbox and it goes like stink!165bhp 0-60 in around 7 seconds

  • 10/10

    Looks really superb!

Excellent job you have done :)

  • cheers for your comment! it was a lot of hard graft getting it to the condition its in now! it started life as a white 1.3 4 speed van so its come up in the world being an orange 1.6 turbo!

  • i've welded many MK3's in the past, battery trays always seemed to rot!

    still a good car!

  • hi,i done the battery tray, inner and outer front wings, bottom of the A-posts,inner & outer sills and edges of the floorpans, both rear arches and lower rear quarters and i welded in two inner box arches from an austin maestro van! fitted great! took me 18 months on and off! its got around 165bhp with the turbo so now the body dont flex like before!

  • don't forget the stress fractures that use to occur on the front inner wings around the track control arm mounting area!!!

  • not heard of that one, must have been the early ones pre 1983? i own a B & C reg and have no problems there! cheers tho, something else for me to worry about lol!

  • i love your MK3 van, in my cowntry have Escort's ,but not the Escort van, realy cool

  • thanks for your comment, the escort van is a great machine!

  • nice motor sweet gota luv mk3s man last gd shape for real
