@GoodNamesWereUsed Yeah, its up for debate whether or not they dated though, if you believe the rumors and the Charles Cross book on Cobain they briefly dated until of course a Ms.Cortney Love came along and then the rest is history. But she claims they were just friends, but most can agree on the basis they hung out a couple of times
@msnewsenior No, I think, from the two things I've read, that they liked each other, but they never did anything with it... Nothing sexual, no dating. But, who am I to say this anyway.
@XxxkenzaxxX I said it was up for debate! But in the Heavier than Heaven book it kinda sounds like they may have liked each other because Courtney Love refused to talk to him anymore until he cut her loose cuz she went on a show and claimed her and Kurt were an item but the DJ mentioned that he'd been seen with Ms.Lord cauing Courtney to confront him about it
That's not true. They are still singing, performing -- they never stopped. Many are still in Boston, some in Seattle and LA, and some have moved elsewhere. The problem is the major labels lost interest in indie music.
@jcfalzoi But what is indie music? Sorry, I know I'm veering off topic but I wasn't exactly conscious of these things during the peak of 90s indie music. Is the music then or the concept of independent music the same then as it is now? Because people have been packaging "indie" music today like it's a commercial thing now. At least, that's what it seems to me. I could be wrong though, so, help me?
John Peel use to play the kickass 7" version of this song a lot back in the early '90's. I ordered my copy from the only record shop in town which was a techno specialist (Massive records in Oxford) It took about 6months to show up, but they were very helpful!
Then she made a cd with the Bevis Frond-what a gal!
@MordaciousFilms oh come on. slutty pop singers have existed since the dawn of pop music and slutty singers have existed since forever. if you don't like sexual pop music, just look elsewhere. there were "slutty" singers in 1998 too, but obviously there was an alternative then, as now.
plus, why the anti-dance elitism? dancing is fun. I'd dance to this song.
p.s. Lady Gaga is awesome. so is 90s alt country. I see no contradiction.
Hello Mary Lou! Way back when.... I was this scrubby 19 year old DJ and Mary lived across the street from the station, and would come by a lot of times with her acoustic guitar which she was just learning to play. I'm so happy to see she's made it and on her terms.
she said once that this song was written for kurt cobain

There were like 1,000 cute indie rock girls like this back in the 90s! What happened to that archetype?

They got married and became boring.

That's so sad. :( When I was growing up in the 90s, I looked up to them.

You are cute! :)

@madbeatnik It was trampled by the slutty digitized pop singers who focus more on dance moves than good music.

@friendofthedevil Dancing is fun, I agree. But the auto-tune and all that...I just don't care for it.
