  • Well the economy took a dump at the time and every stock I own went the same way as the record company's stocks.

I buy my music from the artists directly. I have no interest in making the music video directors and record company execs. rich.

I bought many albums on which their was only 1 or 2 good songs. Never again.

  • just at your guys' concert in tennessee in farragut! good work guys!!

  • yeah guys he does this for a reason

  • Hey my name is nick, and I was at your concert at NOAC 2009... I live in Lafayette Louisiana... You should play down here. You guys are awsome!!!

  • @Nick26891 i agree i was there too it was awesome i was one of the random people using the zippo app and waving my ipod back and forth

  • JP doesn't plead you dumb shit. Why is there hate here? This video wasn't made to brag it was made to raise awareness.

  • i just came back from his concert! hes amazing!

  • hahah he gave us this speech today in my english class.

  • I think you are just really nice and good or shy to say directly that other band sucks... please if you think you are great then you are great. we got different eyes.

  • they were at my school on tuesday matt painted me a shirt its awsome i live them matt also signed my arm they are awsome but JP looks better with his hair short and spiked in the front thats how he had it at the concert

  • If I really like a band, I buy their music :)

Other than that, I - if I can afford it - try to buy music to support the different bands I listen to. But I'm a student and I do not have much money. (...)

  • I agree with bayislove...

Go back to School.. or at least stop smacking your lips or whatever you do when you record vocals..

  • I plan on getting word out about your band :P I plan to wear my shirt to first day of school for sure, and I bought your HotH album.

  • Wow, the guy is practically begging here!! Listen, if you're song is good enough it will go around. The 10 seconds I've heard is pretty much like everything out there.

You shouldn't be pleading people to pass your music around.

  • yeah, u r supposed to be right. i agree with the fact that we need quality music. lately, music is always the same. if u hear one, it's like u have heard all of them. most of good musicians r unknown. hope for u achieve your goal. i really hope so. p.s. u look cute :-P

  • if it makes you guys at WTL feel any better, i bought both heights & depths on the day they came out. amazing music!

  • you guys gotta come to Toronto Ontario Canada!

  • dont worry ill try and spread the word i fust found you guys today and many other great bands that deserved to be heard i support underground artist!

  • i've gotten like half the people in my school that illegally download songs to stop using this theory so i hope people will stop to

  • Hope it goes well

  • what is that first guy from?

  • This is just the natural order of things when greed takes over the lives of hungry thirsty record exec's. not to go much into detail but doesnt this sound familiar to you? kinda sounds like our government doesnt it? well anyways.. i do hope the best for you guys..

  • Hey John, I just heard your pov and well you have half a point there. a strong one but just half. yes downloading songs from the net are hurting the hardworking bands out there, it may not hurt radiohead or nin.. but for the up and coming band-it could mean a bright future financially in the music business. But you have to understand and when i say you i mean the general public. Record companies have been screwing over their artist and their loyal market base for decades.

  • This is a really great PSA. I feel legitimately ashamed for the times I've downloaded... I always buy my We The Living CDs straight up, though. People need to see this video!

  • a not to juregenbono, well you never copy a song even if it sounds similar, and plus you can't put a copyright on a bunch of chords, and the lights there are seizure like lol, not like coldplay's amazingly set up lights where there actually timed not random

  • you know, i admit i pirate music. i think im gonna stop now...

  • Umm that's not legal... why admit it on youtube?

  • hes going to admit it on youtube because no one is going to stop him over you tube

or at least thats my thought

  • i pirate music.. and i'm not going to stop. i'm going through school and i'm poor and if i weren't downloading it for free, i wouldn't be listening to it. i go to at least 10 concerts a year though, and ticket prices are way up now because of the industry going down.. so that's how i give back.

  • i buy it for the quality, also viruses are a pain when downloading

  • I agree, some of the best bands Ive found at local shows. I saw you guys at Uconn and was amazed!

  • i love it it makes so much sense

  • The world has to change....

  • your right i bought your album at summerfest 07

  • coping coldplay èh? :p

  • Copying coldplay to the extreme!!! those are the chords of IN MY PLACE and the video of speed of sound! and their other video was YELLOW"S video.

  • yes yes it was those thing i saw to.

neeaaa they aren't so bad but Coldplay is best xD

but if i really like the band.artist i will go out and buy he album

awesome cover of viva la vida btw :D

  • great voice

  • i will download every other song illegally except the music you write!

  • one of the best groups ive heard so far.

  • NICE, JP Im posting this on my myspace page,

    Doug

  • This video is a great idea!

    Best of luck!

  • I'm agree man, Keep it that way...and good luck!!!

  • The problem can be solved by innovative marketing and sales strategies.

Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) made ~US$2 Million, *label free* with the "Ghosts" release. Which is creative commons and was freely available on torrent sites. Radiohead did it too - I know these are big bands but new thinking has to start somewhere.

Innovative artists recognise that the game has changed and that changing with it provides unique opportunities.

note: I am a muso and I legally buy all my music.

  • You're talking about two of the biggest bands in the past few decades. It's a completely different situation for bands trying to break onto the scene.

BTW: I think of an Apple commercial when I watch this.

  • Straight up. Lol.

  • kisssssssssssss

  • Will do
