my apple iigs recently commited suicide. well the floppy drives did. I put in a game one day and it made this horrible chainsaw-like noise and killed the drive along with the disk that was in it. I had another drive too but that just suddenly stopped working for reasons I can't tell. now it won't read ANY disk that's put in it. Do you know of any place I can get the drives repaired or do you think I should just get new ones of ebay?
Is this GSOS 3.0 or 4.0? Newer version (5.0 e 6.0) are a lot faster in drawing, moving, overlapping windows and pull-down menu. On my youtube archive there is a video capture of 5.0.4 GSOS running on a standard "unaccelerated" IIGS rom 01. There are also some videos of bests graphic games developed for the platform like taskforce, rastan, sensei, hostage and so on.
Apple IIgs output is monochrome PAL and washed-out NTSC colour. There is a simple way to adapt RGB analogic out to SCART-PERITEL TV connector for tv that have this connector. The major part of TV are able to synchronize apple horizontal scan rate of 15 khz.
A few video hints: Never video something with a bright light behind it (such as the window here) Turn off your steadyshot (or your camera's equivalent) in order to get rid of that travelling line up the Apple II's screen. Or better yet, use a video capture card for the screenshots or pump the computer's composite video into your camcorder.
Unfortunately, the Apple IIgs composite video port only supports monochrome otherwise I'm sure that would have easily been done instead. - The standard video interface for the Apple II is a pain and I think it would easily be accomplished through an emulator before anyone attempted to dig up these legacy interfaces.
I could have, but I did it at a whim. It was a webcam. The webcam won't capture faster then the scanline of the monitor, so hence the line. I kinda shot the computer on purpose.

Well unless it was on of the really rare disk drives, I would just go ahead and try to get one off of eBay.
