Hey, thanks for posting this!!!! No version can beat the Dead's with Jerry taking part . . . but this is still wonderful!!! If haters don't like it, that's their loss. Yes, it really is their loss whether they think so or not. Haters of this are cranky uptight close-minded music fans. What they need is to relax a little, float down stream, enjoy more of life, feel the rhythm, dig it, and their world will be a much better and more peaceful one!
Oh my gosh. He didn't perform this so people could argue over it or him or his songs, he did it for entertainment for his fans, and because he probably likes to perform it anyways. Let's just all get along and listen to the music. (:
@marissamickles how many thumbs up can i give you! god people are acting like its theyre song i cant even describe how i feel about people complaning about it like if they are that way and want perfection they should turn on the autotuned radio and listen to that shit i think theyre playing in the wrong playground
Jimmy played Jacobs Field in Cleveland many years ago. I have been to about 25 Buffett shows and by far this was the best one. Jerry Garcia passed away a few days earlier and he closed with this song with fireworks going off. It was simply amazing!!!!!
there are some weird time signatures in this song and he plays most of 'em. (not the instrumental 7/8) but lots of people that cover this tune just play it in normal 4/4 time . . // good version.
I love the dead, cant really stand buffet. that being said, wow this tune wasnt half bad. i actually enjoyed it a lot. now i need a pina colada. :) thanks for the post!
I was so glad he played this. When he was introducing the song, he was talking about The Grateful Dead and I thought he was going to play "Scarlet Begonias" like he did the night before. But he didn't. He surprised me! I love how Jimmy changes the setlist from show to show. I love SB, but I don't like Jimmy's version. I actually think Jimmy's version of UJB is better than GD's original. Such a great song!
yeah i couldnt beleive it. I always wanted to see jimmy play this in concert and was stunned when he did. jimmy? Change up his setlist? i hardly consider changing a few songs every night a change in the setlist. Bands that change their setlists are grateful dead, phish, OAR, DMB, ect. all great bands too. I wish immy would change his setlists like these bands do, but thats a wish that will never happen.
Jimmy isn't a jam band like Grateful Dead or Phish. He has a theme for each tour, so at least half the setlist NEEDS to stay the same. Jimmy does indeed change up his setlist, if you look at his previous setlists, he does. Granted, the structure is the same. But consider this: most artists play the exact same setlist every night. Jimmy doesn't do this.
yeah I agree but he usually only changes like 4 maybe 5 songs per setlist. I mean I already know what the bands do so I know what to expect. so I'm not gonna make a big deal over it. I just wish more bands would make total random setlists than they do. It makes the concerts more rare and personable. I've seen jimmy twice this year, gonna see him again in VA, but i know basically what he'g gonna play , but i enjoy it and i go.
Goddamn, well I declare, have you seen the like?

Jimmy Buffet doesn't live in Key West anymore, I love the Dead. This version is pretty good also.

I simply cannot get outside of crap here.
What is wrong with you people? How can anything negative attach to Uncle John's Band, no matter who plays it.
"The Grateful Dead are not the best at what they do, they are the only ones who do what they do." (Bill Graham quote, I think)
Jimmy Buffet is not only the best at what he does, he's the only one. He invented Gulf Music. (Parrothead music? whatever)
If you don't like this, fuck you... you wouldn't like ice cream or sliced bread.

I now know what Uncle John's Band would sound like if it was turned into a car commercial. Thanks, Jimmy!

Very nice. That Pina Colada comment sounds good right now. Robert's pans sound sweet!
