I just uploaded my own video review for "Dead Man's shoes: In The Night Garden" @ my 7Brett5 account if anyone wants to watch it. I made it for you pommy bastards.
I enjoyed this movie except for the guy playing the mentally handicapped fellow. I just thought the mannerisms and affectations he employed didn't really work. He was no daniel day lewis in my left foot.
@greggzmad Yes. He's also pretentious. Itseems he asked for a voice-over when filming RocknRolla or perhaps he has been miraculously cured of his retardation.
@erroneousapostrophe I give up mate, I think you have a severe case of mental retardation and undeserved arrogance. Don't make me cut you to shreds with my rapier-sharp riposte.
@greggzmad Are you willfully ignorant or hard-of-thinking? Your relentless desire to best me at discourse is thinly-veiled vanity. This, your Achilles' heel, has precluded you from the crux of my opening statement. Moving on, as we must, indulge me once more - "Why do binmen only work on Tuesdays?"
@erroneosapostrophe Toby Kebell is not "disabled" or of "special needs", he reasently played Jonny, the rocker in Guy Richies "Rock'n'roller" (yep thats our Anthony the one who stabs the bouncer with the pencil). Just shows wha a fucking good actor he is. ie Leonardo Dicaprio's performance in "Whats eating Gilbert Grape". thats what actors do you see, they act! Spot on though shit hot acting from everyone in that film, makes my top 5 as well.
Great acting from the disabled actor Toby Kebell. Tony's performance shows us that the disabled are valuable members of society and can perform many jobs as well as normal people.
He did such a good job of delivering the lines, though at times you could see the tremendous effort and strain in his facial expressions.
@erroneousapostrophe I know someone already commented this, but it's Toby Kebbell not Tony, and he is not disabled, he's just one of the best actors ever XD
@erroneousapostrophe Lol at the irony of your name, being as your comment is highly erroneous! Do your homework before chatting.. Kebbell is great actor, nothing more nothing less - his unsettlingly accurate portrayal of a 'fucking norner' is nothing short of astounding.
@greggzmad I didn't mean to offend. Would you prefer the term 'handicapped'? Either way, I admire his effort to overcome the challenges he faces. I agree he is a great actor and I'm glad the part was given to a handicapped actor.
@greggzmad I think he was taking the mickey mate, that's how I interpreted it anyways. And it's "nana" as in banana, not "norner" lol He is a bloody good actor though, as is Considine.
Great Artist! His Music is so pure , so beautiful and touching. Haven't seen the Movie yet. I Love this posting and I want to see it....soon:-) thank you! LOVE
Love the way Will Oldham (BPB) okayed the song for use in the film as he thought it relevent. However when asked for it to be included on the soundtrack album he deemed it irrelevent as just part of a collection of songs, brilliant! Hence you will not find A King At Night on the OST album.
there is grime on my face there is crust in my eye there is no one in this place but no one said goodbye this is how i start another day in my kingdom there is hate in my heart this is how my day starts there is blood in my hands from the murder of a man this is how i start another day in my kingdom this is how i start another day in my kingdom

Simply Incredible film and OST.. So, so sad though.. And to the person that asked, not sure on specifics, woulda thought it's set up north.. Manchester/Leeds area I would guess!
I liked both Somers Town and Once Upon A Time In The Midlands.
But KALfilms obviously hasn't seen Notting Hill, 102 Dalmatians, An Awfully Big Adventure, Alien Autopsy, Bridget Jones, Spice World, Calcium Kid, Eden Lake, Johnny English, half the James Bond films or any of the Mr Bean films lol
so glad ive found this song...this film is superb one of those rare films that make me cry..richard and anthony are fucking heros and paddy considine is the best british actor ever...total perfection on such a small budget..hollywood could never better this film
I gave you a negative comment BIG sorry bout that. I totally agree with your comment. When i realised about Anthony my stomache sunk. Man hollywood couldnt make something this good ever
both are cracking movies and meadows has a very good ear as well as he can match the visuals and music perfectly to capture the mood. Dead man's shoes for me is the best out of the two but its close. Keep up the good work fella
i cant decide for the life of me which is a better film this is england or dead mans shoes, they are both perfect. i would put those two meadows movies up against ANY multi million dollar american trash.
love this movie and its songs i got the album based on this song but it wasnt on there. but now finally found it! lol meadows is brill & hope he continues to put out great movies. thanx for posting.
make no bones about it they will talk about this movie in many years to come . this is british film making at its best!!! The cinematography is beautifully shot giving a typically english and realistic setting. the characters are almost believable and brilliantly played and the film is altogether dark, brutal (with no gore-takes some doing!!!)and subtle humour. hats off to meadows again!!! always been a big fan. if you liked this catch "this is england" of course but 24/7 is more of the same.
Thank you for sharing this song. This song and this movie is beautiul and hopefully it make atleast someone realize that revenge isn´t ugly, it is natural.
