Hi Kris! The first time I saw this technique was when I visited a University in Dayton, Ohio with a group as guest art critics and one of the professors/artists invited us up to his studio and we drank beer and chatted about painting. I can't recall the artist's name, but I recall a number of his paintings involved lizards on an abstract background.
I still remember doing that reverse painting on the window in our kitchen downstairs from you, too... :p
Hi Greg, nice to hear from you. How are you these days? Thanks for your comments!
I began painting on vinyl in reverse in 1980, while still in school at SAIC. My first paintings were made in this technique in 1990, after years of making fashion and objects, some of them with this method too. To date I've made over 1000 paintings this way, and continue to love this technique.
You are welcome. I am so glad that you share your gift and art with the world. If only more people do the same, we can all create more beauty around us.
You can use any clear vinyl. Acrylic paint is best, and remember to tell them it will not come off their clothes! :))

What kind of vinyl are you using for the ground? Is there a special kind that is best? Would sure like to try it with my High School students....;-)

I agree with you. There is so much beauty possible from each of us, and we can only create more. I am fortunate to be able to share what I have!
