  • i like this

  • This is a good idia but not the first of it's kind Portland OR had a program called cite bike or something like that that was donated bikes painted yellow that you picked up road set were you stoped and left it for the next one to find it it has been cancelled long ago but did exist

  • this is great! luv tha idea!

  • Lol, people could easily just steal one and never bring it back lol, fail

  • @TheBmxBeginner er they have GPS installed, did u watch?

  • @TheBmxBeginner: Hey dummy, that's why you have to swipe your bank card to unlock and use one. Paper trail back to you. Bread crumbs like Hansel & Gretel.... Think man, think.

  • COmpletely agree. I wish the system came up to Anchorage, Alaska.

  • In Copenhagen people like me don't even bother to have a drivers license (age 29). I use my bike everyday and cant live without it :P

  • Can you subscribe to my channel, it would be an honor! Thank you for reading!

    -Ambar

  • I'd get in on that were I in a place doing it. ^^

  • 4000miles on Boston streets on Bicycle last year.

And I DO NOT support a share system in cities in the U.S. AT ALL.

Serious cyclists like me who have all the equipment and knowledge will NEVER ride on these 50-pounders. Our own bikes are WAY nicer.

People with zero experience will not get on these things neither. They think it is dangerous.

Overall,US citizens are not used to "share" things like Europeans do. If you've ever lived in France for more than a month you know what I'm talking about

  • How many serious cyclists like you are out there compared to regular pedestrians and drivers? Do you honestly think that serious cyclists fall anywhere into the equation? Please, don't make me laugh.

For regular cyclists, bike sharing has proven to work very well so far in many places, and you haven't provided a single piece of evidence to show that this shouldn't even be tried in new places.

  • No one can find me somewhere in the city without my bike under my ass. Why don't people understand what's perfect and what's crappy?

  • we have this in dublin in ireland! its a brilliant idea in the first week they had them here they had more people using them than they expected for the first two years, just something to think about

  • Very good idea and great system.

So sad it wouldn´t work in Latinamerica, where traffic laws

don´t stand for people walking or in a bike.

  • Actually, the more bikers there are, the more cautious car drivers become. "Riot bikers" also help a lot. One scratch in the paint for every sin!

Btw I travelled by bike in Latin America...

  • probably the best idea in my books. I live in a small town so I need a car, but at times I got to the city to shop, go to games, etc. Mass transit only goes to certain spots so it's not great for going from place to place in downtown.

These would be great at park and ride facilities. something that can be rode leisurely and "off the beaten track" and generally more enjoyable then standing in a hot bus on a summer day.

  • Shared bikes are already popular in Montreal. Those who say this idea won't work just havent witnessed it yet.

  • I ride a bike, and its great. ^_^

  • B-cycle doesn't look cool no matter it gathers geeky irrelevant data.

    Idea thou is nice.

  • Then you can ride a big Hummer or a nice huge Cadillac and you can look "cool".

  • This is already working very well in a lot of european (mainly germanic) countries, but where I live (wallonia in southern belgium) this wouldn't work because people are just too car-oriented. Thanks to the northern part of the country (where politics and CEOs ride bikes), this is changing in my city too but I really can't imagine this in USA where people still despise public transportation...

  • Sorry but I might of missed something but can someone explain to me.. Won't people be stealing these? I know they have a GPS in them but I wouldn't imagine people coming after you to get the bike back.. They'll get damaged and abandaned. I swear this day peolpe just won't care?

  • no, you have to be a registered member to use these bikes. when you need a bike, you use a card to unlock the bike. the next one to use it will report the damage or those workers that fix them. if its abandoned, they have the information of the last rider. but this will generate money, so all the small damage that comes with regular use, is fixed with that money.

  • can't wait for this to be in california :)

  • Great Idea! Hopefully we'll see it in Vancouver, BC one of these days.

My friends and I would use them to get from the sky train to the bar. Or from where I park my truck downtown to GM Place (Sporting arena) or Science world.

  • Works great in Paris. I use it everyday. It cost me 30 Euros per year!

  • They already have this in Sweden =)

  • You are halfway there.

If you electrify the bikes and use the docking stations to recharge then you will have something.

I noticed a solar panel in one of your shots so you may be thinking on that track.

Electric is the future and a motor assisted bike is not cheating, your not in a race.

People will respond to easier transport without the sweat.

The silly hat is also a deterrent to cycling it prevents spontaneous use and should be recommended but not compulsory.

  • tulsa OK has had this for about 3-4 years now....sorry denver.

  • or they could buy their own

  • Brilliant idea !

  • Its probly more expensive to use that bike to go shopping than takeing ur car lol.

  • Or... why don't you just buy a bike and ride it?

  • Lol i thought the same thing. XD

  • @JohnFinnigan1 Have you seen how much bikes are now? Then there are lights and flats and tools. The passengers don't get out and change a flat on a city bus, they don't do a tune up on it they just pay there fair.

  • When people come out with good ideas like this there always are going to be people saying the opossite, just like people that think everything should be free, Fu....ing comunists!

  • this guys are full of shit, make it free

  • You can see this in use in Oslo, Norway (the capital city) Not as advanced as this sure, but they are around. With a wifi phone, you can show where to find a bike to get. Costs 10 euros or about 14 dollars a year.

  • LOL are they kidding me? This idea has been already implemented here in Barcelona, Spain A looooooooooooooong time ago. haha.. And its called bicing here. and they just took the idea from here in Barcelona...-.-

  • I'm sorry but am I the only one tht can spot its 3 million flaws

  • well i can spot more with todays cars

  • cool!

  • it is a great idea.

  • wow, 1:50, if you need lawn furniture, prob not the right thing for you...are you kidding?!! freakin idiot! no wonder this is a failing idea...look what kind of people are behind it!

  • "look what kind of people are behind it"

    lol u r right....

  • at 1:27, thought for sure he was gonna take a soil sample.

  • so what happens when you bike 5 miles from home to go shopping or something and there are no bikes available when it's time to leave? guess you gotta bring some running shoes with you, too. Just more dumb ideas supported by GOOD...oh well, at least they're trying.

  • read the description dumbass, it's meant for short bike rides.

  • the comment is still relevant you little child.

  • Hey this is city bike concept started in Paris, France back in 2007. Search for 'Velib Paris'.

It's a great succes there so I am not surprised that the idea is now spreading world wide :)

  • Bicycle sharing is a Dutch invention from the 1960s. now they just added the gps etc. it was called 'witte fietsenplan' (white bicycle plan). It's a nice idea but it will never work, at least the plan failed in the Netherlands.

    bikes get:

    1. stolen

    2. or disassembled

    3. or demolished

    4. and ppl won't use it bc they don't want to cycle to some place, leave it for a moment and then notice they have to walk all the way back bc they took all the bikes on that spot.

  • True, I don't believe a plan like this would ever succeed. But what would work instead is just making a lot of cheap bikes and up the prices for petroleum. That way people will have a incentive to use bikes instead. This is what has happened in Denmark, in the 70's (during the oil crisis) the goverment decided that it was too dependant on oil.

  • We have a system a lot like this in sweden and we have not got those problems, and you can collect and leave the bike at any station and there placed all over the entire city.

Or you get your own bike, a realy good bike that you will be able to have for 10 years or more costs att it´s most $500 in sweden.

  • this is actually what taiwan is doing

  • it's a good idea. We have the same system in montreal (new from this summer!!!)

  • Great plan.

How do they stop people from stealing the GPS?

I know when i leave my bike somewhere, i'm paranoid about locking everything down on it.

It can get to a point where it's just too much to worry about

  • i believe the GPS isn't like a route planning GPS, but more like a tracking device so that the company can locate them. that's one way to counteract theft and the other is if you notice in the beginning, the movie mentioned swiping a pass card, which most likely means that a B-cycle user must sign up and create an account with info to use the service.

  • it's great, but how do you make users take the bikes back to the station?

  • Really good, new, unique idea, if I still lived in a city and these were available i would be one of the first ones to grab at it, i mean this can get you to your destination faster, and can help you lose weight, you dont have the stress of driving, and its a more pleasant journey all round, fantastic idea, hope it catches on !!

  • great ideas! a positive move forward

  • This is a great idea for all you egocentric americans, but 99% of cities around the world are not bicycle friendly. So what then? Come on GOOD, start thinking outside your country and help the world also.

  • there are thousands of those bikes in germany... you suck america!

  • im not even american but these "fuck america you suck comments" are starting to get FUCKING RETARDED

  • but its right! look at all the wars, all the fat people, the illegal immigrants, the violence of the police, hollywood, michael jackson & their insurance system... maybe you think they're not sucking but, believe me, they do!

  • amazing idea

  • why would i pay to ride a bike when i could ride my own? X_X

  • Well this idea is for things like going out to lunch during work so that you wont have to start your car and wait for traffic for something a few blocks away.

  • how come the blue shirt guys not wearin a helmet

  • This is great in theory and in Europe

but there are toooooooooooo many reasons why THIS WILL NOT LAST LONG in America

    with the way society is

    the way towns are made

    the way culture had become

is the reason why this idea will NOT last long( each section I mentioned had many reasons underneath it..)

Sorry people, this won't exist in NA

    It will go extinct

  • Bixie in Montreal > these wannabe bikes.

  • dude its just a shitty bike

  • It would be nice to see this spread to every large north american city, it's time we catch up with the rest of the world.

  • ...actually it has failed in european countries already. good concept but it doesn't work.

  • Comment removed

  • This would work great in toronto :D

The ones in france are really easy and good (:

  • theres plenty of them in Quebec

  • actually i ment Montreal...i havnt been to Quebec

  • Montreal is in Quebec.

  • i havent been to Quebec the city.... my bad

  • Japan is all about the bikes and public transportation.

  • For years here in Belgium.

  • I give huge praise to the Europeans who do this but Americans won't even let health care happen. This is a great idea the odds of them doing it are unlikely. Can you imagine how Fox News would report this?

  • Americans are dumb about healthcare.

    TOO DUMB.

    Sucha fucking neofobians..

    Retards!

STAY IN UR FUCKING MEDIEVAL TIMES!

  • I love how you critize people for being dumb, yet...your comments ooze how unintelligent you are.

Next time, shut the fuck up till you have something valid to say.

  • Why don't you make a smart comment volumedealer1... much easier to b!tch right?

  • This is old news in europe :| Lyon's been doing this for years :|

  • Hah, ya, good luck with that.

Those lazy lard-assed Americans ain't gonna ride a bike even if their lives depended on it. They prefer McDonalds and church.

  • Please shut the fuck up.

You're probably no better in any regard.

  • Aww, a little fired up, are we?

  • again, im not american but i did live in new york for 4 years and i can attest to the fact that american's lives do not revolve around McDonalds and NOBODY GOES TO CHURCH ANYMORE HAVE YOU BEEN LIVING IN A FUCKING CAVE

  • Thanks for your gross generalizations. Have you ever been to a city like Denver? Portland? Chicago? Do you just believe what you see on TV? Bike commuting is growing every day in our cities, we are restricted to many city layouts that make things difficult but at least we are trying to put ideas into practice. You mock us for being fat. We put a bike sharing idea into practice and you mock us for that. You need to look past stereotypes and maybe offer some help if you think your so much better.

  • GOOD just seem to be making these 'infomercials' which are interesting but no way near as good as their earlier stuff which was just information, and facts, presented in a clever sharp way.

Good....go back to your non biased roots!

  • Um, go back to hell.

  • Wonderful response.

  • we have the same system in montreal its called the bixy

different look but its the same idea

  • i love this..its a great idea..it will work..ignore the number below..its just a matter of availability and change of mindset..right tool for the right job..brilliant

  • u dont understand america. What kind of american is going to get on a bike and do physical exercise when they could get in a car and just sit there. We're lazy and way too few people care enough about the environment to give up sitting in a car to having to be active. Its not going to work. Not unless everybody starts caring. Its an awesome idea but it'll never work and its sad.

  • its true americans r lazy bastards that dont care about anythin but the least we can do is offer alternate transportation and give as much better and appealing options to the public

  • come to LA please too. so cool.

  • note: montreal has the same type of program

  • Aside from being a complete failure on the practical side of things, costing too much - and being vendalized all the time because the locking system isn't rugged, that is.

  • Screw green eco-wackyness. This bike-sharing thing is simply a good idea on its own merits.

When I was stationed near DC, I never had a car. If I ever went to DC by public transport, my travel within the city was either by subway or on foot. If I had access to one of these bikes, not only could I have gotten around easier but I would have saved on subway tickets.

If they can somehow solve the vandalism problem, this sounds like a workable and handy solution to short commutes.

  • 1:25 LOOK AT THE SIGN BEHIND HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOLOOLOLOLOL

    by the way

why cant a person steal teh bike?

if there is a tracking system then just rip it off

  • Comment removed

  • @finnsia Good catch on the sign! Hey, I think Denver should give it a shot- Colorado is at least one of the least fat states in the country, so there is a chance it might work.

  • @mjs7888 Nah, I think they should pay people to ride the bike and leave the car. New cars have a GPS in them (without the interface). So they can track them if the car stayed in the garage or not. There is also the problem with saftey since a lot of motorists find them annoying on the road and their disrespect put thems in more danger. A bike can be used in every season but it's always more confortable to sit in a car with air conditioning and music. But IMO safety of a persons life > health

  • china thought of it first...

  • no they didnt

bikes are for those (in china)who cant afford a car

  • Troll Fail?

  • Great idea. I wouldn't mind using it.

  • the bike's look silly

  • Why not just get your own bike?

  • yeah, what happened to everyone owning a bike?

  • Convenience and cost.

  • Oh, because a bike takes up so much space and costs heaps of your hard earned cash, yeah..

  • lmao nice comeback

  • This idea is absolutely genius!!

  • Amazing, as always!!!!

  • Fifth

Great Idea it would be awexome here in San Diego.

  • fourth

  • Our planet is not fragile. It has been around a long time. It has taken many hits to it. Earth has lived through things far more devastating then little man. WE are just a mere blight here. We can not even move the planet like objects have in the past. No, this planet is far from fragile in any way, in fact it will out last man for a long long time.

  • I dont understand why "saving the planet" and "doing good for the environment" is the first function that comes to mind. Biking saves money!

  • Well if the atmosphere is destroyed, the earth will survive, but it will be a huge rock like the moon, and could get destroyed by meteors and meteorites.

  • Actually, the earth will probably settle back into a relatively okay place. It has a way to regulate itself. I did that 65 million years ago! The problem is that we'll probably perish. That's why it's sort of arrogant to say that we have to save the earth. Because it's really that we have to save ourselves.

  • I didn't think of that part, it is possible, good point!

  • You are completely right. Most of the nut jobs who view GOOD's videos however will disagree.

  • Actually you have a point. I already said the same thing on this video, but the earth will be FINE without us. It's just the human race that will die. So it's a little arrogant to talk about saving the earth when really we're supposed to be saving ourselves.

  • this global warming isnt natural. if we can somehow stop it, then we might be able to partially restore the ecosystem to a pre industrial revolution type. that is, unless the humans who survive get so selfish as to pave over the entire earth...

  • Keep coming up with your videos I love you guys at GOOD!
