Stabilization and alla automatic settings are pretty useless on this camera, isn't it? For video, I mean. Thinking of getting either this or the sony a35. This got more manual settings, but the Sony does auto better. For me it's more fun the more settings I got, but on many occasions I got a friend recording, and then auto could be good. Is it worth it to get this one then?
The optical stabilization on the kit lens is very useful for video and images (granted the lens itself is not particularly good). I have not extensively tested the the automatic mode, however it seems reasonably well designed.
I would certainly recommend this over the A35, especially with the benefits of the Magic Lantern firmware.
The thing with Sonys cameras is basically that you have stabilization in the body and it's compatible with many old minolta lenses. But it has some drawbacks with the video mode ye, I agree. But if the auto-mode works on this one, it should work out reasonably well. Won't install the magic lantern though, got bad luck with firmware-updates, haha, so don't want to install anything that step out of the warranty.
i love how guys unbox stuff but you can see that they already opened it and just repacked it lol. theres fingerprints all over ur LCD screen on the back of the cam :) over all still a good video.
The 18-55mm is the stock kit lens. The image stabilization is useful, however the largest aperture it will reach is F3.5 (not low-light friendly) while sacrificing sharpness. I would say it is the best lens to begin learning with.
The camera I used to record this is extremely picky about lighting (very, very difficult to get good results), and records at a fixed 1080i25. I got the 550D, as was looking for a DSLR, not just a camcorder.
the class 4 and 6 will work but trust me get the class 10 on long shoots ( i take a video calss every couple of weeks we have to turn a 30 min video) the class 4 and 6 cut out and kinda drop frames and i have gotten mutiple hot pixels so watch out for that man but def get a class 10 spend the money for it
@troy2062 well actually i had a 32 gb class 10 and i filmed the fireworks show lastyear on july 4 and it recorder for 23 min so i am sorry but you are wrong on that
What resolution did you record in? At 1080p, there is a 12 minute limit per recording instance. Bear in mind that I am referring specifically to the 550D.
My source is Canon. This is not a matter of me believing what I want, it is a matter of the inherent 4GB file size limitation of the FAT32 filesystem. I will grant that depending on the complexity of the shot, you may be able to extend that 12 minutes slightly, however that does not change the fact that there is a 4GB limit per recording.
If you wish, tomorrow I will post a video demonstrating the 12-minute recording limit in effect.
@troy2062 there is no way to prove this point unless in person i know how to cut a clip also not saying you will but i am just saying it is possible to cut a clip to 12 min to prove a point and i would post the 23 min video if youtube allowed but they dont
No, using my camcorder, I am going to show the recording counter on the camera display stop with the message "Recording has been stopped automatically" when it reaches 11:59.
SO DO YOU HAVE TO BUY THE CARD OF MEMORY apart???? D: What is the cost???
LordADNsVlog 1 week ago
I am going to get this camera in a week or so. I have a question about it. :P
I will use it to videographing (I heard that it has awesome quality)
But yeah, to the question: Do I need a special SD card for videoing? I have kingston SDHC 4GB class 4 card. Is it fast enough?
Cannon361 3 weeks ago
@Cannon361
You will need a class 10 SD card. A 4GB card will allow you to record approximately 12 minutes, so I would recommend 16GB.
troy2062 3 weeks ago
@troy2062 Oh.. Then I need to order a 64 GB one..

Have fun. :)

@S1PR0DUCTI0NS
4GB is the largest individual filesize which a FAT32 filesystem can support. At 1080p (330MB per minute), this translates to 12 minutes.
