  • I love it, it was one of the best music ever :D

  • Que linda epoca!!! que grandes bandas!!!Y esta es de las 3 mejores...todos grandes precursores de los Beatles!!!Ellos marcaron el camino...Bill es el REY DEL ROCK&ROLL!!!

  • Bill Haley looks the same as he did the '50's.

  • didn't he kick the bucket not long after this?

  • Very good stuff as you can see rocker to the end unlike Elvis who started to sing C&W as early as 56 he helped to kill R&R by not being true to R&R and most people don't see it as they don't know the music history but if you check it out on utube you can see the overrated guy started to kill it after 56 by not being a true to the bone rocker like bill and the rest thanks.

  • @wins151 I agree..when you think of all those films in the 60's His Vegas concerts consisted of about a ten minute medley of his 50's hits. It's as if he took it as a joke and just a bit of a throw away part of his later act.Yet they still called him the KING of rock'n'roll which is beyond me.Presley had a great voice and was good looking but he was no GOD as some people make out. He was just a good singer. i saw Presley live in 1973 and he was good.I saw haley many times and was the REAL DEAL.

  • @rocknroll56able Yes i take your point i've seen clips on utube where he sings a R&R songs bad deliberately as if he had no respect. For those R&R songs that made him famous or he felt that he was a big start that got midle aged women eating out his hand. He can do what he likes i think he think he was to old to sing songs like that again disrespcet to the music. Of R&R other R&R start sing the same songs even today they are the real Kings of R&R Bill had hits at least 3 yrs b4 EP anyway.

  • He never gets old! Still rockin' !!

  • Bill Haley rocks,go rock n' roll!!!

  • MR ROCK AND ROLL STILL AT THE TOP OF HIS GAME

  • Comment removed

  • WUNDERBAR !!!

Ol' Bill & his boys knew how to get the ol' Deutshland rockin along the Rhine!

THANKS for sharing this swingin clip with us! Strictly from coolsville, daddy-o!

  • @JubalCalif

It was not Germany, but Austria. They speak german as well.

  • @Weidenberg

Is it in Germany or Austria that they call a bra a "stopenzeefloopin" ???

  • @JubalCalif

It was Austria, not Germany. This clip was made in Vienna.

  • @Weidenberg

My mistake. A thousand pardons. After all, the only German I know is what I picked up by watching "Hogan's Heroes" on TV. I wonder if General Burkhalter on that show was German or Austrian....and by the way, wasn't Adolf Hitler originally from Austria?

  • Elvis the KING---- Bill the Prince

  • @bigestfun

    I do agree!

  • Great video, Bill Haley and the Comets never lost it and will never be out of style! Timeless Rock that just gets better with age!

  • l inventeur du rock

le premier ecoute en france avec rock around the clock il y a env 50 ans

  • Nice strong live video! The band is playing with enthusiam! Great sound...

  • Its beastig good !!

  • Elvis was great but only Haley really rocked! The King of Rock'n'Roll!

  • Haley was the first to rock and top the charts. God bless you Bill!

  • Interestingly enough, even Buddy Rich once said that "There hasn't been a REAL rock & roll band since Bill Haley...1!"

Very intersting comment from someone so far removed from rock & roll!

  • @SebastianTBurn How right you are.

  • WOW.... he is # 2 forever Nobody can replace Elvis, but Bill was close

  • Great song. Great beat. Great lyrics. Haley deserved better.

  • im 16 and this is my favorite kind of music

the tenor sax player was a beast

  • Yes tou are right.

Bill had lost his old friend and sax player

Rudy Pompilli earlier that year 1976.

George Baker was a bad replacement.

    Luckily,he never toured with Bill.

he just did a few TV shows.

  • Hi Chimbo,

George Baker actually was a very good sax player-that one video of him in Austria just happened to be early on the tour, and the band was still jet-lagged. He did do one tour with Haley for 5 weeks in Europe back in November/December 1976.

He learned that entire show in just 2 weeks--so I know he's a great player. I'm the guy who trained him. But of course, NOBODY could ever replace Rudy.

  • Hi Pickinbuddy.

Ok and thanks for the info.

Of course George Baker was better

later on.And I do respect that you trained him.

It was just "See You Later Alligator"

that you could see on Bills face that he was`nt happy.

I am sure he missed Rudy.

    Take care.

  • Wow! What a find!!!! This is great footage, because there's very little of Bill Haley after the 1950's black and white footage. I always think about what guys like him and Elvis would be doing today. Music just don't sound that good today. I mean, REAL rock and roll.

  • i love it so much

honestly handmade music from one of the best!!!

  • You are right Eurpoe still appreciates the old rockers The USA seems to have forgotten them

  • It was a shame that at this point in the seventies Americans considered all those performers from the fifties as has-beens. It seems like only Europeans appreciated their talent.

  • Yes sir...you are so right. Europe STILL has the most loyal and knowledgeable fans.

  • yyyyyy what a time best times

  • Brilliant footage. Bless you Bill.

  • Gdzie te moje młode lata , kiedyś to było życie i muzyka

  • One of the last appearances by The Father of Rock and Roll. He would die in early 1981. Elvis may have been The King, but Haley started it all.

  • I completely agree. Bill Haley was the very first to top the US-Pop-Charts with "Crazy Man Crazy" in 1953 written by himself and Marshall Lytle. God bless you, Bill! We`ll never forget you!

  • Bill Haley saw it all during his life. He saw an invention called television make its way into homes. Then came color. On Feb. 9, 1981, Haley died. At the time of his death, cable and satellite were beginning to make inroads into homes across the country. Six months later, a cable network calling itself MTV debuted, and as the late Paul Harvey would say, "You know the rest of the story."

  • Very good perfomance from real legend. -E

  • The rhythm guitarist, Herb Hutchinson (the first one you see playing) taught me music theory between 1994-1995. SO interesting for me to see him playing live before I was even born!

  • hahaha, nice young peter rapp, austrian presenter.

  • aah il la toujours la petite boucle c'est l'essentiel!!

  • looks a lot like full playback to me

  • Every note is live on this one!!!!!

  • Fool!!!

  • You stupid!!! is live!!!!

  • Wow!nice and old school.....keep rockin up in heaven bill......rip

  • Bill Haley---d. 1981 in Texas...R.I.P.

    Danny Cedrone, d. in Pennsylvania...R.I.P.

  • I misread I thought it was Australia! I was doing a bit of research to send my 75 yr wife out there for some pro-active hands on field study involving Box Jelly Fish, Salt Water Crocodile's, Funnel Web And Red Back Spiders, Blue Ringed Octopuses, Tiger Snakes And Great White Sharks! I'm quite prepared to provide these creatures with all necessary self protection and ear muffs!

  • Der typ sieht wie ein alter version dem Elvis Presley im siebzigers, aber trotzdem mir gefallt ihm gut!

  • Omg. I must make a presantation of BILL HALEY

  • An awesome legend.

  • bill haley played the twin bar, new jersey, 19 50 ,were he took,mixed country and r and b.cowboy jive they called it,rockin chair on the moon , has to be 1 of 1st rock nroll songs,bands in ireland heard bill haley ,and started , playing that style in 54, the clipper carlton showband,were the 1st in ireland ,its nice to say bill haley started it all here too;

  • I wouldn't call Rock this Joint rock and roll per say. To my ears it is more boogie with a country swing. Most historians consider Ike Turner's Rocket 88 the first true Rock and Roll song with backbeats. This pre-dated Haley.

  • His earliest 'jump' records were more "rockabilly" except for "Crazy Man, Crazy" which finally brought the big beat of drums into rockabilly, thus turning it into "Rock & Roll".

Ike Turner/Jackie Brenston's "Rocket 88" wasn't anywhere near rock & roll either--it was a loping shuffle 'r&b jump blues' and Haley's version was closer to rockabilly/western swing--but the snappy bass still made Bill's version closer to R&R! Also Ike NEVER went on to record anything else closer to R&R- but Bill did!

  • Well put Bill...Bill haley was the first!!!

  • bill haleys 1st rock roll hit was , rock the joint , 1951,

  • this man started rock'n'roll.

  • Started Rock and Roll? hardly, but he was a pioneer.

  • like elvischevy said first hit was 1952 who other rocker like that was around not elvie not buddy holly not jerry lee lewis* they are greats but he started it....

  • He was THERE before ANY of them; black or white...

  • tengo concierto del año 1961 de biil halley en Lima,Peru, interesados escribanme.

    es audio

  • JAJA IN THE YEAR OF PUNK ROCK

  • thats rock n roll!

  • Wow he didn't age that much. He look almost the same as he did in the 50's.

  • i know, can't believe it... too bad he died just a few years later..RIP Bill..

  • I also like that Bill didn't go long hair...funny how men gave in to the fad in 70's...hide their pics today huh?..

  • Yes--you're right! The reason was that their AGENTS were trying to MARKET them to the new generation still under the sway of psychedilia, and they had to somehow appear to be "revelant" to the then-current market!

Remember, there wasn't much "nostalgia" back in '68..just "folk music" and Dixieland!

  • Bill and his Comets were the best group. Youtube search MANUEL VARGAS (DISCO 45 and VIVA EL ROCK AND ROLL) and you will see an honoring to rock and roll music: the best music of all times

  • Rock'n'roll's granddaddy, IMO beats even 70's Elvis.

  • rock dad

  • bill Nolte you were the best of Bill's later drummers...great sound and good voice too !!

  • Bill such a pro....even the way he walks on stage..THE KING !!

  • I played drums for Haley betwee 1968 and 1972 . Is there any one that has any clips from those years? We did all the talk shows plus recorded 6 albums just in the last 3 years. Thanks, bnxcomet

  • According to those dates you mention - you must be the great Bill Nolte ! What a pleasure to hear from you. I'll have a search through my clips to see what I can find.

  • Yes you hit it on the head. I don't know how great I am tho. Nice to talk to you.

  • @bnxcomet

    Dear Mr.Nolte.

You can find the David Frost from 1969 on youtube that you did with Bill in 69`.

All the best to you Sir.

    Chimbo`s Revival

  • @bnxcomet Oh man, you are so lucky!!!I´m 24 and I can´t believe that I'm talking to you!!!I think you´re one of the most specatular drumers in the history!!! and you played with BILL. I can´t believe it!!!My father and I are great fans of yours...You were just AMAZING!!!

  • sottoilmetro com

  • great ,bill haleys classic song and a great band ,jim lebak on the bass ,top class , thanks more please

  • great right to the end.thanks Bill.RIP

  • hahaha, nice young peter rapp, austrian presenter.

  • This is one good reason why artists should never change ..I am getting into this preformance same as 1956 .you can not say that about anyone else from that time.

  • The guys are just great many thanks for bringing the memories of the great man and his band. Well done

let the 1950's rock and Roll. Down here in Australia Bill was huge as was one WILD ONE Mr Johnny O Keefe

the King of Rock and Roll Australia. BH Came to Australia on many tours together, the joint was just rockin. Sadly both of these great artist NO masters of their trade are no longer with us. WELL DONE

  • But members of the Haley bands still are and doing just the same as the. I'm one of them, bnxcomet

  • I also saw Bill in 1979 when I was 14, at the odean in Birmingham. This was the time when Punk, New Wave and Disco were dominating the charts, but the concert was full of young people, many in Teddy Boy gear etc, long live Rock n Roll.

  • Man, from 55 to 76, he didn't change at all in appearance or his singing. The band sounded great, would've liked to have seen the upright bass instead of the electric though.

  • I was with Haley from 68 to 72 and he always featured the walking bass when Rudy did Rudy's Rock. bnxcomet

  • What ever happened to John "Bam Bam" Lane?

  • Johnny Bam Bam Lane died a few months back,I don't know all the details but Bam Bam played before me and again after me with Haley. He also had his own Comet band which btw was after he and Al Rappa split with their Comets group. Bam Bam I bielieve was 60 yrs old. Thanks, bnxcomet

  • You are SO right! The most insistent request from fans throughout Europe, was to bring back the Upright Bass. That was the one element missing from Haley's music. Lebak couldn't play the Upright anyway...

  • I was fortunate to see Bill in 1979. He sounded great, despite what idiotic critics say about that period. He's the true king of Rock n Roll!! God bless him!

  • Really good to see Bill Haley as always,The king of rock and roll ,and why he is the king , because, he start it all with Rock the joint to night loooooong time ago, and belived and loved the sound of rockabilly.

Chuk Berry, said Bill Haley, was a man who go back where he began and play the music always how it sound from the first time he play it,

Chuck Berry sound like ,you hear one you hear them all , he is still in jale ,for you know what

  • "Chuck Berry... he is still in jale ,for you know what" Chuck isn't in jail. He's touring Norway, Sweden, and Germany this month at age 80.

  • "The king of rock and roll , and why he is the king , because, he start it all with Rock the joint" Jimmy Preston recorded "Rock The Joint" in 1949 (a Top Ten hit on the "black" chart), then Chris Powell also did in 1949, then Jimmy Cavallo (who is "white") did in 1951, then Haley did in 1952, all in the basic style Preston had used.

  • You have got to be black

  • Great video! Not a lot of folks know that Haley was still performing in 1976, but this is a terrific performance. Bill Turner, the lead guitar player, is still rockin' today!

  • Good clip of King Haley...seems that he is missing the great Rudi Pompilli though. i think he died in february of that year.

  • He died in February 1981.

  • He was already 51 in this clip, but still rockin' and rollin'

    Great clip!
