  • So basically the "11 dimensions limit" is like the limit of folding a piece of paper in half?

  • Deep physics O_o

  • WTF

  • Mind grenade!

  • @BlackzSmoke 1D is a line, so you have buddies!!!!!

  • @AvierSkies Lol saying third time. 1D as time. no use if time doesn't flow right?

  • sheldon cooper would be proud

  • So the 11th dimension would be everything imaginable would exist...?

  • watch the anime phi brain kami no puzzle XD

  • So our universe is a lesser-dimensional object within an 11-dimensional space? Is it possible that the relativity of space and time are due to our "bubble" not being uniform, with an absolute frame of reference existing where higher dimensions are considered?

  • I was with him, right up to the part where he said 'Andre'.

  • so god is music? what about slayer?

  • @idontseeynot9 slayer is god

  • @Beefcakes155 good man beefcake

  • Only 10 dimensions? Turn it up to 11!!!

  • I disagree, I believe there are 13 dimensions, not 11.

And they're not bubbles, they are shaped like donuts.

  • I came from a 1D universe. It exists in a dot so yea i was the only one there. Forever alone :(

  • @BlackzSmoke 1D is a series of points that create a line. Hence, 1D. 0D is a dot and technically that dot does not 'exist' because it's just a singularity of information.

  • @LilGunner030 I meant the 1D as time. :/

  • @BlackzSmoke 1 d is a line

  • @egmixere 1d as time. :/

  • @BlackzSmoke A dot is zero dimensions. One dimension is a line.

  • What, no one made a p-brane joke yet?

  • ok, so whats beyond the hyper space? the ultra space?

  • I WANT MY CYBORG BODY NOW KAKUUUUUUUUU! *shaking fist*

  • Blasphemy!!! lol jk

  • soo my question is how was the multiverse created?

  • at 1:32 he is trying sooo hard not to laugh cuz he said p brain lmao

  • INCEPTIONS

  • man what did u smoke? I want it

  • But it goes to eleven!

  • the multiverse is actually 10 spacial dimensions. if you include time it is 11.

  • @TheXavDesign silly question. nothing can instantaneously appear from A to B. takes time to do so. no matter what direction you choose you will always travel in the same direction as time. in other words time is stuck with space. no matter what geometry or dimension or universe or any system of two points with distance in between. and time is a side effect. our understanding of time is hazy even at best

  • P-branes.

    Pea-brains.

Ya. You gotta think when physicists were first thinking up a variable to use, they were elbowing each in the ribs and snickering a bit at the thought of using "p".

  • The mind of god is a gigantic symphony, exactly the way Tolkien put it in the Similarion

  • This goes to eleven.

  • And i thought i understood physics...

  • makes you feel odd when you pause and really contemplate us on our tiny microscopic speck of rock in the middle of infinite vastness

  • Comment removed

  • according to ancient hindus there are 1000 dimensions

  • pee-brains. Biggest troll on youtube?

  • When he means dimensions he means degrees of direction. You people understand that right?

  • @bazle64 time is a dimension too.. what direction does it go then?

  • @TheXavDesign I'm not entirely sure of what you're replying to so I'm not sure of the context here, but time doesn't go in a direction. It just is.

We only perceive time as we do because we're 3D creatures not 4D.

  • You just blew my f%$*@#! mind, man.

  • I guess it's time to turn it up to 11 and make some cosmic music!

  • ...and how does one make a living in string theory?

  • Swooooooooosh! Right over my head. You couldn't pay me enough money to tell you what he just said.

  • I hate to say this, but I am inclined to believe, Mr. Kaku, that you are on very good acid or full of shit.

  • So we cannot say anymore multidimensional, because we have a finite number of universes, they are 11. So we cannot use a triple of 1. We are destined to live as 11, two dimensional s even we are 111, 3 dimensional beings, or we are 11111111111...dimensional ...

  • Didnt M theory talk about 29 dimentions?

  • @Talis116

    no

  • Either I'm getting tired, more stupid or this episode was alot more complicated than the others....

  • 12 is my lucky number so if we could somehow come up with one more dimension, that would be swell.

  • huh??? this is where i always get lost. how do you know this shit.... lemme guess youre makin it up. sounds pretty religious to me.

  • @jr5607 The ideas come from mathematical models that try to unify classical mechanics and quantum mechanics. There isn't a general consensus among physicists about which model is the best, and creating experiments to test these models has been difficult. String theory has a ways to go and it's not as solid as some of the physics of the past, but it's not just 'made up'. It is real science.

  • Did he say "The Big Bang Theory". LOL.

  • do the bubbles pop?

  • @hwang1607 Yes it does. Many documentaries explain this. the universe keeps on expanding and ultimately, it will pop. Thats the end of the universe.

  • "P-Branes" are merely a freudian linguistic matter of time and a preistly privilege, according to "wool-pullover-for-true-believers" theory. I recommend using a "that's you" sneeze when they're brought up.

  • "the mind of god will be cosmic music resonating throughout eleven dimensional hyperspace" - sounds like J.R.R. Tolkien's story of creation in the Silmarillion, the ainurs created the world through songs. hahahahah...

  • Your mum has 11 dimesions

  • sooo when do i get my nintendo 11ds?

  • @anonymousmry99 It doesn't work like that and this concept of 3d is an optical illusion.

  • @BurnzyTheBassPlayer iknow the difference in steroscopic 3d and three deminsinal space it was a joke

  • wat

  • Yep, that's enough internet for tonight.

  • I know no questions are stupid, but some of these cut it pretty close. Firstly, what's inside the bubbles..? Secondly, why do things have to listen to laws? Ex: (I'm 12, so don't yell at me for idiotic questions) If a black hole had no matter but only a lot of mass, how does it exist in the first place? Lastly, why only 11? Theoretically, if that applied, what would happen if a 12th was made? Thanks! :D

  • @zub074 What's inside a soap bubble? Air. The "air" of the arena he was talking about is the hyperspace, just as the "air" outside the bubble is. Secondly, the laws aren't laws in the way you're thinking. They're simply the way things work, the gears that turn the great machine of the multiverse. A black hole has mass, but it's such a tiny amount compared to it's gravity shadow that it's neglegable. And any universe beyond 11 dimensions becomes unstable and reduces itself to 11.

  • @zub074 first, inside the bubble is a dimension... 2nd, theres certain law you can't avoid, Gravity is one of them, there not talking about social law but physics one... Third, this is only theory, it has not been proven yet and to your last answer, the 12th one would colapse because its unstable... and by colapse he mean self-destruct, not explode...

  • You heard what the man said! It goes up to 11!

  • anybody else hate this guy?

  • @hmehlenbacher I think its just you.

  • @hmehlenbacher just you do

  • WE ARE A GUITAR

  • I have a question: Since Mr. Michio stated that the multiverse has 11 dimensions have those dimensions been determined by what we are able to understand now at our level or is it something that they are not sure yet. Also is it possible to have a universe inside a universe therefore having 11 dimensions coexisting inside 11 dimensions or will they just cancel out???

  • @H8tinVidz its theoretical physic, its only a theory...

  • @H8tinVidz They will cancel out due to the expanding dimensions within a dimension which will collapse within that multiverse

  • @H8tinVidz like a sandwich within a sandwich? inception...

  • Mich, quit talking a sec and pass the bong.

  • @guyincognito210 There's an alternate universe where that very scenario is happening right now.

  • can our 3 dimetional space enter or alter into a 4-11 dimentional space? or does different dimentions only exist within a humans brain (our perspective of the world)?

  • @kristiancharlesberg it exists, but you can't imagine it at all. it is impossible. oooooooooooooo

  • @w00tbeerisgood im sorry, but nothing is impossible. now what im going to say might frighten you, quite possibly offend you. But, there is a substance called Dmt-Dimetyltryptamin. Your brain produces it in heavy REM sleep and pumps it out in the moment of death. But when ingested, smoked or drank. People experience vivid hallucinations, multi dimentions in hyper space and lightning speed. Some even go as far as calling it life after death. check it out, and you can see our brain is so much more.

  • @kristiancharlesberg It is sort of like a dream. Everything in a dream or hallucination has been experienced before, more or less. You could dream about your mother, or you could dream about something with 5 arms because you have heard of something that has five arms in a sci-fi movie or something like that. It is all stored in your memory, and can be pulled up for use (in a dream or when needed.) However, your brain cannot pull up something that was never in the brain. So it is impossible.

  • @kristiancharlesberg It is like you need to edit a file on your computer, but the program to run cannot be downloaded onto your computer.

  • Ive actually arrived at all this on my own without any formal training. shits not actually that complicated until u get OUTSIDE the multiverse (which i call the superverse)

  • @DripStopShop without any trainning??

    what level is your math?

  • @yauyyb IT'S OVER 9000!!!

  • @yauyyb just single variable calculus. but i didnt use math. its easy enough to just think about. i should clarify, tho, that i didnt discover that there were 11 dimensions (i dont think the specific number is relevant at this extreme of abstractness). but i did arrive at everything else

  • @DripStopShop And then you woke up.

  • @JbmxG89 haha seems crazy right? i actually have been finding out recently in my life that most of my ideas that ive arrived at while just thinking are major theories of famous thinkers like einstein, many philosophers, and i guess this guy lol

  • Hehe P-branes, or rather, pea brains. What an ironic term for a theory so advanced

  • GREEKS THOUGHT MUSIC IS DIVINE. THE GREEK LANGUAGE HAS 7 VOWELS. 5 SHORT/SLOW/SINGLE ONES AND 2 LONG/FAST/DOUBLE ONES AND THEY ARE EXACTLY LIKE THE 7 NOTES, DO RE MI FA SOL LA SI DO. I BET ANYTHING SOON ACOUSTIC LEVITATION WILL BE POSSIBLE AND LIGHT WILL BE GENERATED FROM SOUND AND VICE VERSA. THE GREEKS HAD BEEN NEARLY CORRECT ABOUT EVERYTHING AND THEIR METAPHYSICS IS SPOT ON WITH MODERN SCIENCE. THINK HYLOMORPHISM ARISTOTLE.THEY HAD DISCOVERED GOD. HEBREW BIBLE CAME LATER...MUCH LATER 200AD.

  • STRING THEORY WILL COME TO REALIZE MULTIVERSE ARE MORE STABLE AT 7 DIMENSIONS , NOT 11. ALL IS CONSISTENT WITH THAT DIVINE MAN ARISTOTLE. ALL MY LIFE I HAVE WORSHIPED HIM SINCE I WAS A CHILD. EVERYTHING MODERN SCIENCE DISCOVERS CONFIRMS HIM, EXCEPT THE GEOCENTRIC MODEL...UNLESS IT'S RELATIVELY SPEAKING.

  • If you listen closely to the cosmic music, you can hear Spinal Tap. These dimensions go to 11.

  • using "big words" dose not make you smarter. and using "curse words" does not get the point across. WE ARE HERE TO WATCH A SCIENTIST EXPLAIN A THEORY! not to complain like we know it all. gezz talk about immature.

  • Let's turn it up to 11.

  • Michio makes me feel like Ariel Sharon on an endless mickey-bliss.

  • Must keep howey stwing nowwedge and quantum gwabbity away from teghoists.

  • "branes" short for membrane...p denotes number of dimensions...therefore "p-branes"

Hmm, I think he's trying to troll us...

  • Remember, when speaking in public, the correct pronunciation is "StWing TheeWee." Thank you.

  • this makes perfect sense with the hebrew bible

  • unstable after 11?!?! its starting to sound like some sort of inception

  • this guy said a lot of crap and he still didnt explain why 11

  • @wjj132123 umm he said coz over 11 it gets unstable :o which (i guess) one does not want.

  • Sounds simple. Sadly no human brain can really grasp the scale of what he is talking about, even his own.

  • why are alot of you trying to disprove science? hes alot smarter than all of you. if if a theory is wrong who cares? its science. you keep making theories until your right.

  • To feel better about my brain, I like to pause each time he's about to wink, so he look stupid.

  • "we believe though we cannot yet prove" is all I needed to hear. These "theoretical physicists" will be remembered in the same way that alchemists and astrologists are remembered.

  • @toucanist

Fuckin a man, finally somebody who agrees with me. This guy is a fucking joke. He's no better than religious groups, with his stupid fucking assumptions.

  • @Evansdotcom without assumptions you'd probably still be picking insects off your mother's back and eating them like the primates in Africa do.

  • @toucanist so they'll be remembered for hundreds of years after for making theories that fueled a generation of scientists that were able to prove such claims and disprove?

Why denounce these things when all of math and science are based on them. It's called a hypothesis.

  • @PrizePirate Science entails looking at a range of existing evidence and drawing conclusions based on that evidence. This conclusion is the hypothesis.

What this man is doing is plucking a conclusion out of thin air, and then devoting his life to finding supporting evidence. This is the method used by creationists and the like, not real scientists.

  • @toucanist right, this string theory physicist is not a real scientist. thankfully, your here to set him straight.

  • @SixStringDeity At least try to understand the simple difference between "your" and "you're" before inflicting your pathetic sarcasm upon us.

  • @toucanist hey, fucktard, im not interested in your spelling critique. fuck off.

  • @SixStringDeity I think you mean grammar critique, rather than spelling critique.

  • ... Uhhhhhhh. What?

  • two questions

what is this guy on and where can i fine it?

    lol

  • And what's the difference between each one of these dimensions?

  • @70Leandro70 what's the difference between up&down versus left&right?

  • braaaains

  • His day job is string theory??? What does that even mean?!?!

  • @Heath0494 string theory is a theory of physics that many physicists are currently looking to prove. Dr. Kaku being one of them. thats what he means.

  • I read stuff like this for fun.

  • In other words,... We don't have a clue.

  • these dimensions in String theory is parameters like 3D, 4D and 5D cubes, but this Multiverse is actually a Dimension - a energy level, and these energy levels is ? amount in the next energy system level and so on. This upgraded theory is my theory - everything is energy and with energy we can do everything and every energy is actually a Energy. To explain this is a little bit advanced story but i hope to contact with Michio kaku and make cooperating with him to prove my discoveries too :)

  • is he trolling me

  • Thumbs up if you'd heard 2:02 on Discovery Science a long ass time ago!

  • So I hope its true but we are in a spot where we cannot know one way or the other. At the very least this universe hints at deeply profound and amazing things. We just need to find that one person (or group of ppl) who are capable of providing that testable new hypothesis that opens up new avenues of the universe to us. Ask any competent astrophysicist and cosmologist. There is so much more to learn, the universe has so many more questions to answer. Isn't it great? :D

  • Heres my one big sticking point in ALL of Kaku's great work: he seems to talk about string theory as if it is actually a true theory. Granted the hypothesis does a great job of providing potential explanations for tough spots in physics but heres the kicker: there is no testable parts of this hypothesis with our current or even foreseeable technology. Right now its still only just above god in terms of scientific proof. God has zero proof but at least string theory has mathematical proofs.

  • he doesnt explain the theory, because its 2:25 minute long, to an audience that we assume know nothing of advanced mathematics, so yea what he says might sound like fairy tales, but read the theory and you might be suprised

  • this guy sucks big time

  • Great simple explanation of the 'theory', but I still cant accept these theories. They sound great and look good on paper but with no one ever finding nothing more than small glimpses of 'evidence' it all sounds like science grads wishing and wishing.

  • I'm an advocate of science and its progress but only those which contributes to hard proof and facts where it's actually beneficial to humanity and the world. This... this is like witnessing a creation of a new hypothetical religion where it is based on a theory which is riddled with inconsistencies. He may be smart but at the same time, pretty much advocating something which potentially could be wrong. Well, I guess believing in something is better than nothing right. Blind faith? :)

  • String Religion ?

  • in string theory, arent all infinities within the 10th dimension?

  • Why make videos on topics so obvious and simple?

  • He's just explaining what the theory is, not why it is. I suppose explaining why the theory is that way would take a lot more time.

  • 31 people are creationist

  • Dr. Koo Koo is full of sh*t!

  • @Zaxxen69 what are you, religious or something?

  • haha, pea-brain.

  • @TeapotFTW

    That's P-Brane. actually :)

  • you should do a collab w/ minutephysics to confuse us even more xD

  • I think he just said were all Pea-brains living in a bubble.

  • Only Chuck Norris can go to the 12th dimension...

  • so wat is the multiverse in? and wat is __ in as well? And how many possible dimensions do they hve?

  • non informative

  • @Gufberg Electric Universe - Mind Of God

  • YES, yet another victory for me and my theories on the universe.

Well, I did not know what he just told me, ofc not, that man is a genius!

But it works really well with my personal theories, as I am also a goddamn genius!

If I ever make a religion, I will make sure that he will be my idol of worship and that all robes will come equipped with a trollface.

    U mad?

  • This guy makes hard stuff sound so simple

  • @Waka99Ify That only means he know exactly what he talks about.

“If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough” - Albert Einstein.

  • umm wht?

  • startin a church of musicalogy, who will join me!?

  • i'm not sure, but i think this may have been the most beautiful thing i have ever heard.

  • Hm, sounds like Jewish Kabbalah explained like this.

  • "A P-brane is a universe in different dimensions floating in a much larger arena."

    Insert witty pun about pea-brains.

  • :Aliens:

  • ...but what does the other dimensions look like...? we know 1, 2, and 3 dimensional... but what does the other dimensions look like? hmmm... >,<?

  • Lol i don't get what he's saying but i feel slightly more smarter

  • @FABlackStar more smarter eh? I don't know how well it worked...

  • @FABlackStar lmao.

  • @FABlackStar

You may not get what he's saying, but I'd like to assure you that it all makes perfect sense in its own context. Therefore, if you want to learn more about it, you'll eventually get it. :)
