I like James Cameron's imagination of the future from this movie. It has that foggy, eery, feel to it. The future from the new movie is good i'm not gonna lie but it doens't have that feel to it. ALSO the music gives it the creepy feel to it!
Hey Everybody! I have just released my new album 'Unhinged' which is greatly inspired by Brad Fiedel's soundtrack work in the Terminator series. You can stream or download the full album for free on my youtube channel!
30 years later and im still waiting to see this grim future in a whole movie:/ salvation would've been ok had i not seen only what.. 5 or so acting terminators. shit, the game had atleast 20 in just the opening scene and skulls everywhere. to make it seem like an effort was made. they just cant make'em like this anymore
this is the one of the very few movies where shot vicitms are screaming in pain instad of lying quietly on the ground. It's what makes this movie terrifying and leaves the viewer wishing he wasn't there to experience it.
And another thing - in this scene they make Reese's gun sound kick ass (That actually needed a make over) but the infiltrators gun sound ....crappy! Sorry - still love the movie! I'm just a critic lol
Is it me or does this 1980's version of the future look a hell of a lot scarier than that of T4? I mean this is what I wanted to see all these years when a movie would finally take place completely in the future.
you know a movies gonna be shit when its pg-13 these days. We might need chistopher nolan and cameron side by side to pull off an amazing terminator film again
@necessaryevil101 Heck anyone chould to a better then the bozos that made t-3 and Terminator Slavation. The problem is people are hard and few can go deep inside to feel the darkness inside and drag it out on paper.
@TheBelva85 Its supposed to be a dream. In the first film, Kyle Reece has premonitions of dying, mainly involving burning....the first premonition was when he was hot wiring a car he stole, and he drifted into sleep and he dreamed another future war scene, where he died in the end of a car chase (HK chasing it).
@10APC Or maybe he actually survived a similar attack; If you check out Reese's scars many of them look like they're from burns--probably just a 'flash-forward' nightmare: stuff that happened along with the horrible feeling you can't escape...
@10APC You dont know if its a dream. Infact im pretty sure they are future flashbacks not dreams hence the name of the song.
Kyle never died in that burning car. The scene simply got cut so we dont know how he made it out.
He has all the scar burns to prove it was real , and the fact that he once had a picture of Sarah Connor torn and old but somehow lost is good proof that this scene is real too which is why he no longer has that picture. Then again only Cameron knows.
@ClubPenguinDisney I respect what you say,but I still believe that the two scenes were following a pathos pattern,basically its setting up the audience for the tragic end. Reece could have escaped death from the first scene (HK chase, car crash), but the second scene clearly implies death..there were more Terminators in the scene than just Columbu, and Reece was clearly incapacitated with Columbu advancing on him! Ultimately, its up to the audience,but great film however you look at it.
@10APC I actually think this sequence really happened - a terminator infiltrated the base and killed a lot of people, but Reese managed to survive it and that somehow Sarah dreamed about it, probably because of some extrasensory connection between the two of them. On the dvd the actual script is included and actually states some of this, too.
@SnotRockets55 Well....I don't believe in extrasensory phenomenon, but I respect your opinion. I like the original Terminator film because it is the most realistic representation of cyborg or android technology. Arnold acts perfectly, as the machine thinks and operates in the M mode (mechanically), and not with the silly humanisation seen in the later films. Computers can never attain intelligence...they only win at chess by creating huge decisions trees, again by mechanical means.
Anyone who is a fan of the first two movies owes it to themselves to google "goingfaster terminator" and click the top result. It's a website created by a guy named Christopher Shields who explores ideas of all things in the terminator universe. There's excellent original short stories he has written there too. He concentrates a lot on what may have happened outside of the movies. Very cool stuff.
@gonzo5648 Yeah....but for me, the first film was the be all and end all of this franchise. The first film was near perfection....Arnold's acting of the machine was perfect, as well as Biehn and Linda Hamilton in their respective roles. I don't recognize any of the sequels nor the series....this film was enough for me.
@10APC The first really was the best (I just watched it again today and was amazed at how damn good it was and how I never REALLY appreciated that when I was young) though I do find the second to be pretty damn good too. Anything else really is a joke though. But the website wasn't so much about sequels as it is about possible stories and musings that exist in the spaces in between and none of it beats that dead horse of war in the past like a certain TV show did...
@gonzo5648 Thanks...I wasn't trying to be critical (sorry if I came out like that). I'll check out the website. I only like the first Terminator film, because the 'cyborg' concept was correctly portrayed....in the later movies, they made the mistake of 'humanizing' the machines. The 1984 film was spot on, and it had an authentic 'cold war' type feel to it, and the machine was realistic.
Movies today are to please the Teeny boppers and they down tone everything to get a pg rating and the darkness and realism is gone. Movies need to go back to the basic's, it seems like from 96' when we started getting movies like Armegeddon that are what I call serious- comedys and from that point movies have followed suit. We need the movies like they were in the 80's early 80's were the seriousness and realism made you feel like you were part of the movie and the movie stuck with you.
This scene has stuck with me since I was a boy. Its sad termination Salvation didn't represent this film well, instead we got a glamed up hollywood version were the actors look like they just got out of makeup and a powder puff, ridiculous. This movie was realistic if this went on, people starving, filth and devistation, Salvation was like a trendy fraternity flick, sucked. I always thought of kyle reese as a lone warrior, a loner, buty in slavation that little actor did a horrible job.
i liked this scene because its a different T800 model, thats not arnlold. like they would make multiple arnolds. i think the resistance would catch on pretty quick.
@xsf908 Because these future scenes are set way after Salvation, Reese wasn't apart of the risistance yet in Salvation so here he is that should give you a clue. Both sides also didn't have plasma weaponry in Salvation they were using acutal weapons it wasn't until later they got to have plasma weaponry, so there ya go folks.
@thatkidinthegreenhat Thats opinon you know, but no matter what is typed people won't pay attention and look how far apart the years are from in the future war scenes to Salvation.
You know when I first saw this scene I mis took the Terminator as Sylvester Stallone but its actually Arnolds old body building friend Franco Columbo classic scene though gives me chills everytime I feel sorry for Reese as good a soldier he is he cant stop this machine from slaughtering everyone it also made me wonder how he survived
This scene kind of scared me when I was small. It still kind of frightens me that humanity can be in a situation like that, hiding and starving while the machines are outside. I always imagined thousands of machines looking for people. When the Terminator enters and kills everyone, you could just imagine how many one army of machines can kill.
btw, wasn't there another sound. I recall a different lasersound.
Franco Columbu, Arnold's friend, was the Second Terminator shown in the film. He is about 5 feet three inches or five feet five, and like a lot of short guys can move very fast. He shoots up the bunker in this scene.
The way in which they waited until after he began firing to show the glow of the red eyes just makes this scene beyond awesome. I love the way it's directed. Hell, this entire movie is a masterpiece from beginning to end.
T4 made JUST 1 SCENE a huge ass paradox, first of all this movie is set in 2026 and kyle explains that the new t-800 infiltrator models were just being made which. In T4 the new T-800 models were being made in 2018 which does not make any sence at all.
Well I agree with everyone that T4 was not as dark as portrayed in these scenes. But you have to remember. T4 takes place many years before these flashbacks. Kyle was just a kid in T4. The war obviously gets more intense and desperate for both the machines and humans. Seems more for the machines since they sent a machine back in time to kill Sarah Conner. Hopefully, not likely, T5 will be dark and gritty.
It should be dark and gritty and desperate, regardless of what year it is. To think that it would get worse 2 decades into the war is wrong. Society would collapse instantly after a nuclear war, so there alone we should see how desperate Humanity is. It's not going to be dark and gritty. Why? Because it isn't CAMERON who's making the films. It's a bunch of Hollywood jerkoffs who want to make their own version of the Terminator. And thus, they ruin it.
I agree with you. I was just trying to make sense out of something that for one doesn' even follow the story plot. If you remember, this scene takes place in LA. In Salvation, only a few people are living in LA at the time, with 2 resistance fighters, Kyle and some little girl. LA was a hotbed for Terminators...I can't see people waking up one day saying "lets move to the city...location, location, location!"
@MDthornton83 I like that he only appeared briefly, added to the mystique of the Terminator, nowadays everyone wants to be a " big name" and a big role.
Franco did his part perfectly, he was supposed to be a nameless Termiantor, he did really well, I didn't even know it was Franco for a long time.
I love the way this scene shows how humanity is pretty much on the brink of survival, and it's a war that they seem to be losing. Very fucking gritty, disturbing and intense.
By comparison, Salvation is just another generic, shitty action film, with a, by comparison, fairly light-hearted vision of the war. Talk about toning it down a little too fucking much.
these were the dark scenes that made the terminator series enjoyable for me - salvation was ok but i REALLY expected a movie to focus on the war in such depth as these cut scenes - there were fewer 'machines' in salvation than my applience-rich kitchen!
I REALLY hope someone takes on the next instalment based on the war, official or unofficial
this is sad and scarier now than in the 80s. manly because we have robots that are capible of thinking for themselfs eight years before the events in t4
Not really. At least T3 actually followed the story, character and plot continuity, R rated violence, and followed what the future war looked like. And Nick Stahl played the role better and actually looked like a more realistic John Connor. The only part where Bale looked like the future Connor was when he lit the flare in the Skynet bunker. T3's only downfall was that the plot was redundant (recycled and a lot weaker), Arnold's aging, and how they almost made a parody out of things.
@FortitudeOfHeaven tbh john conner in t3 sucked ass. that kid was reloading shotguns at the age of 10 robbing atms being completely badass. now in t3 he rides his bike with a fake gun and gets captured by a vetenarian? a frikkin fake gun! anyways u can blame that to the plot and script however t3 john connor was made to look like a complete pussy whereas in T2 he was this tough rebel kid not to be messed with.
@ThePetosiris they didn't use foetuses. That would be inefficient, having to grow an entire human with internal organs and all. Makes no sense. Skynet just grew the skin itself and shaped it into whatever form was required.
All Reese said is that the biological coverings were grown for the cyborgs.
Customer service? Well the I-950 series are made by Skynet (in the T2 novels) with the intention of being a better infiltrator by using human embyros, infused with a harder skeleton + a chip behind brain to control them. But, we should have the adaptation of that instead (if Cameron was behind it) as it covers events from end of T2 to the future war.
I can't believe Mr. Cameron didn't try harder to get back the rights to something he CREATED! it's like abandoning your child. his terminator movies are so unbelievably great, why Jim?
I don't like the new sound fx for this release. The shotguns don't sounds like cannons anymore, that was an awesome sound!!!! Every gun or plasma rifle has been redone, not nearly as cool. Back to my VHS I guess.
I find it astounding that a movie that was made with a 200 million dollar budget using the latest special FX and CGI like Terminator Salvation, can't even come close to the grit, the realism and just the pure, classic, action movie feel of a movie like this made with a 6.5 million dollar budget. I'd take the flashback sequences of this movie any day, over 2 hours of well polished, hollywoodized crap that is T4...It proves that story, not special FX make a true classic film now...and forever..
Actually it depends what special effect method you use. Look at Star Wars Episode 4 to 6. Those were awesome special effects back in their time, everyone hailed it, just as much as the story. Now look at Episode 1 to 3...most people criticize it for being more like a computer game with it being polluted with CGI!
@Cayden1986 Yeah no doubt. I guess what im trying to say is that, back in the day, when you didn't have alot of CGI to play with to mask up the special FX, you had to more rely on superior story then special FX to draw people in. And star wars is another perfect example. 4,5,6 are just better told stories in comparison to 1,2,3 in my opinion. Cuz the first 3 were telling a story, the prequals were Lucas showing off ILM.
@theSuperMetroid Yeah, it was basically a scam by Warner Bros. to milk some money out of the Terminator franchise. Yet another reason why you don't hire MCG to direct movies and have the movie written by like 7 differnt writers cuz you will seldom get anything worth a shit come out of it. But then you have SOO many idiots who go to it many times and make it money, so WB thinks THATS what people want... :(
@ryano2099 The original Terminator story line was just simple. Terminator 2 is still the best movie of the whole series. And I think Terminator 3 was the worst one. I haven't seen the fourth movie yet so I can't make a judgment on that one until I do.
@ryano2099 Well, Terminator Salvation took place 10 years before these scenes. Plus each of these flashbacks are from the original timeline. The futures for T2,T3, and salvation, could all be completely different for all we know.
@ryano2099 I do agree about the story. That's why i always favored the first movie over the second before the others even came out. While T2 has way more action, this one had way more realism. T1 will always be the best.
@ryano2099 ...I agree! The other films just aren't as believeable as this film...And then there's the soundtrack...listening to it always makes me feel like im a part of that movie...Class!
The eyes really get me :S

T4 made JUST 1 SCENE a huge ass paradox, first of all this movie is set in 2026 and kyle explains that the new t-800 infiltrator models were just being made which. In T4 the new T-800 models were being made in 2018 which does not make any sence at all.

@HirachieOfSociety cause they postponed judgement day, they explained that badly in t3 and t4, so everything sarah connor told john changed

Just ONE infiltrated terminator wiped out everybody! That rifle packed a punch too, almost like a futuristic minigun.
T1 and T2 are what I call really good sci-fi movies.

It is Connor. Many folk spell Conner and that is simply wrong.
buokopter 1 year ago
Well I agree with everyone that T4 was not as dark as portrayed in these scenes. But you have to remember. T4 takes place many years before these flashbacks. Kyle was just a kid in T4. The war obviously gets more intense and desperate for both the machines and humans. Seems more for the machines since they sent a machine back in time to kill Sarah Conner. Hopefully, not likely, T5 will be dark and gritty.
ripper360 1 year ago
@ripper360 I find this to be wrong.
WTCTribute 1 year ago
@WTCTribute
I agree with you. I was just trying to make sense out of something that for one doesn' even follow the story plot. If you remember, this scene takes place in LA. In Salvation, only a few people are living in LA at the time, with 2 resistance fighters, Kyle and some little girl. LA was a hotbed for Terminators...I can't see people waking up one day saying "lets move to the city...location, location, location!"
ripper360 1 year ago
2 questions (sorry for my real bad english)
1.- with a gun like this with how many shoots you can "kill " a terminator ?
2.- if john connor knows that his father is going to die why he not send more peole to protect sarah connor ?
legionario501 1 year ago
@legionario501
1# If its the weapons from the future then it is plasma at a certain degree of pressure to destroy a Terminator.
2# Because Kyle was the only one that volunteered to go back onto time and Conner blew up the time machine after Kyle went through .

@MDthornton83 that aprticular terminator also turned up in the T3 game, or so i heard
Bystandah 1 year ago
@MDthornton83 I like that he only appeared briefly, added to the mystique of the Terminator, nowadays everyone wants to be a " big name" and a big role.
Franco did his part perfectly, he was supposed to be a nameless Termiantor, he did really well, I didn't even know it was Franco for a long time.
Vitruviux 11 months ago

557011 1 year ago
@557011
He used a skin suit, like say for example putting on someone elses face and such. They grow it by making little foetuses and taking the skin.
ThePetosiris 1 year ago
@ThePetosiris well T4 was better then T3 thats for sure but it could have bean so mutch better!
557011 1 year ago
@557011
FortitudeOfHeaven 1 year ago
@FortitudeOfHeaven tbh john conner in t3 sucked ass. that kid was reloading shotguns at the age of 10 robbing atms being completely badass. now in t3 he rides his bike with a fake gun and gets captured by a vetenarian? a frikkin fake gun! anyways u can blame that to the plot and script however t3 john connor was made to look like a complete pussy whereas in T2 he was this tough rebel kid not to be messed with.
ClubPenguinDisney 6 months ago
@ThePetosiris they didn't use foetuses. That would be inefficient, having to grow an entire human with internal organs and all. Makes no sense. Skynet just grew the skin itself and shaped it into whatever form was required.
All Reese said is that the biological coverings were grown for the cyborgs.

@KiraXBara456 Oh, I think I bought one of those once. Broke down within a few minutes and the customer-service was practically nonexistent.
Sorry, I didn't see the new movie yet.
Dirtfire 1 year ago
@Dirtfire
KiraXBara456 1 year ago
@Dirtfire
They grew the skin on the terminator from a device that just mashed the flesh on and gave it facial features and hair and body.

I don't like the new sound fx for this release. The shotguns don't sounds like cannons anymore, that was an awesome sound!!!! Every gun or plasma rifle has been redone, not nearly as cool. Back to my VHS I guess.
jumpinjax2 1 year ago
I find it astounding that a movie that was made with a 200 million dollar budget using the latest special FX and CGI like Terminator Salvation, can't even come close to the grit, the realism and just the pure, classic, action movie feel of a movie like this made with a 6.5 million dollar budget. I'd take the flashback sequences of this movie any day, over 2 hours of well polished, hollywoodized crap that is T4...It proves that story, not special FX make a true classic film now...and forever..
ryano2099 1 year ago 65
@ryano2099
Cayden1986 1 year ago
@Cayden1986 Yeah no doubt. I guess what im trying to say is that, back in the day, when you didn't have alot of CGI to play with to mask up the special FX, you had to more rely on superior story then special FX to draw people in. And star wars is another perfect example. 4,5,6 are just better told stories in comparison to 1,2,3 in my opinion. Cuz the first 3 were telling a story, the prequals were Lucas showing off ILM.
ryano2099 1 year ago
@ryano2099 T4 is horrible. What was the point of ANY of it? John Connor wasn't even that important, and Kyle Reese was a wimp
theSuperMetroid 1 year ago

Wasp1984 1 year ago
@ryano2099 I watched this clip for that very same reason. True dat.
Samnutter3212 1 year ago
@ryano2099 Well, Terminator Salvation took place 10 years before these scenes. Plus each of these flashbacks are from the original timeline. The futures for T2,T3, and salvation, could all be completely different for all we know.
GrendelBoglin 1 year ago
@ryano2099 I do agree about the story. That's why i always favored the first movie over the second before the others even came out. While T2 has way more action, this one had way more realism. T1 will always be the best.
