It's really misleading when you make a tutorial about something you really don't know yet, or you aren't advanced at it, at least, and this is supposed to help someone? The tutorial is a trainwreck. You didnt used snaps, osnap, (just ortho?), when u tried to "pull up the wings" in the transform cage u couldnt do it coz there was "ortho" osnap checked in the taskbar, and you wonder why u cant extrude upward. The polysurface mesh was invalid in the end, so this is missleading. Learn - then teach.
im not sure why but when i do this exact procedure and then shade it it looks mega bumpy like someone kicked the crap out it! i cannot figure out why?!? im not pushing the control points particularly far either! can anyone think why?
thank you so much this is indeed an easier way!.....i love your videos especially the rhino ones....is it okay for me to request a video? Can you please do a video on creating textures, especially with repeating forms? I have issues with too many polysurfaces that won't boolean union....and whenever I flow along curve it won't boolean union....
@SuperWegen It's Bryce. You can get Bryce 7 for free now through download [dot] com. Just search for Bryce and you will see the serial number with it. It's a really awesome free program.
I can piss a model like this in no time in max but that is because I have been using max for years, I learnt it through watching videos like this. I personally still prefer max but the major architecture companies these days seem to prefer a background in Rhino to one in both AutoCAD and Max and there must be a reason for that...
Rhino, to me, already seems far more capable of providing assessments of space. Max is more sculptural, it would be no use to me at all without AutoCAD.
i used to be awesome in Rhino... then i switched to 3ds Max... learned max, now I forgot everything in Rhino. LOL sometimes I miss NURBS... max's nurbs tools arent as powerful as Rhino IMO... some days i miss rhino :*( then I fire up Max and I snap back to reality :D
Hi! I'm watching your tutorials and learning a lot so thanks. But I'd like to know- is there a way to measure (as in Revit for ex) to make it more accurate?
I think many people replying here don't understand what this program is for. It's not designed to make pretty pictures. It's intended to create drawings to control Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) machines.
Thank you for that. There really aren't many Rhino tutorials available on MySpace (especially for beginners) so discouraging people from creating them seems stupid. Especially coming from people who have posted nothing at all original or helpful.
Why is it that all you "experts" can supposedly construct an aircraft carrier in Rhino, CATIA, or Pro/E, but you CAN'T CONSTRUCT A SENTENCE IN ENGLISH?
if you guys are so "advanced," then why are you even viewing tutorials on how to use this program. all this person is doing is showing everyone how to squeeze a spaceship from a box, and everyone is shitting bricks. jesus christ.
Ok... who cares? This tutorial is for beginners, they really don't care at this stage. Plus don't try and compare 3d packages like 3d Max, because major fx companies use all of them. Not just one.
pack ... Your right, but he's a hobbyist , that's a far cry from the typical 'professional' rhino user. Watching the tut from a professional perspective, indeed -- total train wreck. Nobody here is worried about continuity or valid polysurfaces ..... lol.
Misleading ? Maybe, but I'm not sure anyone learning at this level in a non-professional way will be harmed.

I'm sorry but that was really bad!...when you turned Ortho off and changed the wings in the perspective view it automatically takes the cursor to the origin...which is why you fucked up the wings....nice effort
That was a fun little vid! I understand your frustration with rhino when you want to do the simplest of things and something random happens! I didn't even realise you could box model with Rhino, something i find very useful in Max! Something i'll be trying soon xD
You got really weird wings when you tried to develop in the perspective view which always makes a small move really big. Also if you want to select or deselect certain points, holding CTRL or Shift while selecting (individually or with the selection box) will add or take away from the current selection. :P
ok maybe a dumb question but how do i get my cursor to show the red orbs when i click on it?..mine wont do this...

Why is it that you "experts" can construct an entire aircraft carrier in Rhino, CATIA, or Pro/E, but you can't construct a sentence in English?
This guy's doing a better job with the software than you're doing with the language.

You could use kind of mirror/symmetry, to get the same shape on both sides, in least i believe so, there must be something.
Can you show us more about exporting/importing int o for example max/lightwave, zbrush?

When your trying to pull out the sides, you can't do it in the 3d view. it just works on the plane for some reason.
