Thanks everyone for posting comments! I've decide to respond with a video which I had to break up into three. It's not the best presentation and I should have had notes and structured it better, but hopefully you will pickup something of what I mean. Cheers! - Ferrick
I'm a believer that time was created by God . God is omnipresent , outside of and in time . Time has a beginning and an end , God sees time and everything from beginning to end . That's why He knows the future . Our life is but a vapor , here for only a moment but our spirits are eternal . God bless you Ferrick . michael
We are a moment in astronomic time, a transient guest of the Earth. Our wet, wrinkled brains do not allow us to comprehend many mysteries of time and space or even the future. Our brains evolved to make us run from saber-toothed cats on the American savanna, to hunt deer, and to efficiently scavenge from the kills of large carnivores. Despite our mental limitations, we have come remarkably far. We have managed to pull back the cosmic curtains a crack to let in the light.
One question that leaves us with is what happens when we slow down, do we stay at our "current" point in time or do we "return" to the present? or vice versa. But the fact remains that time seems more of an illusion of our time. It is but the measure of movement, action, and since living can be defined as action than time is nothing more than the measure of life. I have to stop here I am already 350 words over max. I feel a good essay coming on though, I'll send it on if it is any good.
According to theories in quantum mechanics if a person could travel faster than the speed of light (300,000 km/sec) they would theoretically advance in time to the "future", because the clocks would appear to be moving forwards very fast. If that is true then if we were to slow our travel speed down 300,000 km/sec slower than our current rate of motion then the clocks would appear to spin backwards thus we would be moving back in time.
Since time in the sense that we can understand it is merely an illusion (just a measure of action). How could a person Travel into an illusion except by means of another illusion?! When you wake from a dream, can you still experience that dream in your present state (awake) or to continue that experience would you have to enter an imaginary state (imagination)? So since time is an illusion and the only way to travel thru time must also be in or of illusion, we can conclude that true
Yes indeed - I do think we can influence our future to a large degree by exercising that thing called 'choice' and acting upon those choices. Most of us don't do this enough and live life as if the script has already been written for us - it hasn't! We can write our own lines if we choose to.
indeed its the same question as the question about time itselfs.
i thing and if i remenber it the right way the buddism says it the same way, future and past are just thoughts. they only exist in our minds. Indeed we always stay in the present monent. that all what we have .... the whole life is just one moment. so enjoy it ;-)
Nice to see your having a play around with some presentation material. I don't think it's your style though. Maybe have a little hint of classical music in the intro and more formal style graphics? Just a thought.
As for seeing the future. Nope. Wait around though and you can find out for yourself.
Nice new editing style, very trendy. From a Buddhist point of view, what you are now is what you have been in the past, what you will be in the future is how you act presently.
When in a deep state of meditation is realised, masters say that our true state of existence is devoid of past, present and future. From my own brief insights I can see that this can be recognized.
When you die all your thoughts and concepts no longer exists all that is left is space and light. That is our future.

I see "the future" as a human delusion closely related to the idea of "time". Because as humans we can remember our past actions, it fools us into thinking there is a "future" that we can see or even travel to. There is only the now, no past, no future. We can imagine what may happen and try to guide ourlselves to that goal, but it is much like a canoe in a raging river, where we hope to go may not be where we actually do go, no matter how hard we think about it or how hard we paddle. Kel
Time is a squashy thing. The hours and days can drag on forever, but years fly by in a white-winged whoosh. It's partly strange because our linguistic conception of time--past, present, future--is handy, but it tricks us into thinking that these categories are somehow separate, which of course they aren't.
In The 18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte, Marx famously writes that people create their own history, but not by the means of their own choosing.
What he means of course is that we can (must) take an active role in shaping our future, but the tools we use to shape the future are inherited from the past. This realization stresses the importance of realizing that history is a material narrative--that where we are going to be in the future has almost as much to do with where we have been in the past as it does with what we do in the present.
It's all one big story, the authorship of which is as expansive as a roll call of the human race.
Man has not created anything. Only the Creator can create, at least from Ex nihilo. I agree we only can exist in the here and now. If we could only get that through our thick sculls we would consider each day a very special gift. Thanks Ferrick!
Well, I got your point, what you currently experience is not your future per se, or not at least from your present perspective, but how about if you change that, how about if you look at it from the past? One could argue that either way, such perception wont be an authentic experience of ones future, and I'll have to agree, but is interesting to think about it.
On a side note, being certain of your future is impossible, agreed, however, it could be thought on levels or certainty instead, right?
"The future" does not really exist. It is closely related to the concept of time and as I stated in one of your other videos time is something that man created. As far as the universe is concerned time is nothing. You can plan for "the future" but in acting out your plan you are still only ever in the present.
Very well put! I like the way you think ... and I agree to the point that time in how we measure it was created by man but I believe that same thing we call 'time' has always existed in a form (not measurable) which can only be comprehended by a living entity in that it is aware of time but unlike us, not necessarily interested in measuring it. But that's another story :) Cheers and thanks for commenting! - Ferrick

@Killedkennyagain Surely that would then mean that time travel under those circumstances are no more than an illusion?

Finally. I have been waiting for your thoughts instead of just posing the questions.
tobaccoburner 2 years ago
May I ask you to expand your thoughts on immeasurable time and, if not too intrusive, could you clarify what "living entity" means to you?
In other words, does "living entity", to you, mean existing within the physical realm or other?
