You know flight attendants have it easy in the U.S. I was recently on an American Airlines from Dallas to Miami and the flight attendant only spoke one language. In Spanish, the overhead tvs would do the spanish talking. Also I was on a Lufthansa 737 from Frankfurt, Germany to Bucharest, . All the flight attendants spoke 2 languages and there was not on overhead telavision to speak in english. I have flown at least about 22 airlines in Europe and every single flight attendant spoke english.

This is stupid to say. FAA maintainance standards are very strict. This is a classic case of bad PDM, and perhaps CRM.. the crew should have elected to divert rather than land, upon finding out the prevailing weather conditions.

I blame the pilots (thank God everyone is ok and not dead). They had poor judgements; very poor. we all know if your driving in the rain you have to brake early. They landed the plane almost in the middle of run way; come on R u serious under that weather. By comparison when USAirways flight 1549, an Airbus A320 of similar size, hit NY's Hudson river it did not break up. As they investigate this 737-800 hull loss, I think a big question is going to by why the flight crew didn't do a go-around, or possible even a divert to their alternate airport.

There have been very few, if any, runway excursions like this that weren't caused by pilot error, but folks should keep an open mind until more facts are known.
