Precies zoals op tv... Sterker nog ben geopereerd door Dr. Vincent. Ik ben destijds weggegaan bij het Elisabeth vanwege de achterstand daar mbt technieken. Aan de andere kant natuurlijk mooi dat ze nu eindelijk het licht gezien hebben..Gr en succes met je studie.

Bij mijn vader is deze operatie voor het eerst in Nederland uitgevoerd in het AZ Maastricht.. Bij hem is toen maar 30% van de tumor weggehaald. Hele mooie techniek en vaak effectief, bij mijn vader helaas niet maar dit is echt DE methode om overbodige schade te beperken

ik heb een hersentumor glioom in VU Amsterdam vorig jaar geopereerd narcose en wakker operatie

met eveneens allerlei opdrachten .99% weggehaald van de tumor

na een paar dagen inderdaad ook weer naar huis

de uitslag van de patholoog anatoom die een gedeelte van tumor op kweek onderzocht bleek graad 2 te zijn

Voor mij was het ook een onverwachte verassing na een epilepsieaanval op mijn werk

spannende tijd geweest vorig jaar

binnenkort weer de scan in voor controle ,altijd spannend

Wow props to you. glad to hear there are no side affects. I was left epileptic after they removed an AVM in almost the same area. and thank god i was not awake for the procedure.

Klopt maar juist om de schade te beperken is er gekozen voor een wakkere operatie. Op deze manier kon men in samenwerking met mij(patiënt) exact bepalen wanneer er schade optrad.....Fantastische operatietechniek!! en +/- 90% van de tumor is weggehaald!! Hoera!

I know for sure(because it's my head) it's real and it's an awake craniotomy.The have taken out over 90% of the tumor in the Erasmus hospital Rotterdam. I wasn't scared because this was the best solution. I'm still alive and feeling very healthy. Better than ever!. There was no pain at all. Just an tinkling feeling in my mouth during the stimulation of the brain. I only stayed for 3 days!! in the hospital for this operation.That's all, good luck!

nope happy21c they do do this. They put you out to start with then wake you up so that they know which parts of the brain are what and they test this by getting you to count or identify pictures or move your hands etc

I'm not entirely convinced that this video is for real... if a guy's skull is opened up to remove a tumor, this would *have* to be done under general anaesthetic, IMHO.

Under certain conditions, the pasient has to be awake during the operation. This is to know that they don't kill him, or destroy importent parts of the brain.

no, no, no, no. That's an endoscopic procedure. The patient HAS TO STAY AWAKE AND SPEAK so the neurosurgeon can see if the language centers are compromised during the operation.

Exactly 6 months today, I had my open-brain operation after a car accident in Ukraine. Seeing what my head went through ("Brain Drain in Ukraine"), and then considering the possibility of having someone probe about my brain with view to removing a tumor is just too awful to contemplate.
