  • the 56th taking of beaumont hamel goes quite nicely with this tune

  • Awesome!

  • Nice tone and articulation. I have to accompany the Jacobites Pipe & Drum Band in Sarasota, FL - You're helping me learn it. THANKS !!

    LaVoix

  • Jesus H Christ, I agree with Finn! Its music and what it does for YOU...I see Finn play and he should upload some piping!

  • i find as a solo piper the piping dont have to be perfect, they just have to be played beauityfully, all that perfect stuff is for old farts in bands, dont listen to those eedjits that have high-jacked piping with their o.c.d. syndromes, they are piping nerds...

you look like a piper as well as sounding like one, regards finnbarr...

  • Woah dude, slow down! It's a retreat, and remember what this tune commemorates. 1.2 million dead for an offensive that turned out completely pointless. That said, pay special attention to getting a good solid low G at the beginning of your throws and they'll improve greatly. Keep it up, not enough people play.

  • Is this a lament or a march or a waltz? Too many tempos displayed. And don't tell me that it's down to personal preference.

  • love it from the finney clan

  • Epic song lol, my great-grandad was a Gordon Highlander and got shot at the Somme :L

  • I love this tune mate. Thanks and well done. As one of the "original" punk rockers, I love the mohican by the way!!

  • LOVE THIS!! GREAT JOB :)

  • I am a soloist piper hoping to

find a realy good pipe instructor, & make friends with other people who play, &get more involved in dillagently learning. Just would be nice to be around other pipers in generald. I know I have good potential, & I am very serious about learning. I live in MO & willing to travel. Ive dreamed of going to Balmoral college of piping.Kind regard too TheHighlandPiper!

    anyone got sheet music for

    The Glasgow City Police jig?

  • My favorite pipe tune,

  • absolute classic, very nice

  • Thanks a lot my Friend!!!!

  • My dad used to play this, it's one of my favorites.

You're holding one or two notes in the second measure too long. Double check the sheet music there my friend.

The notes are at 0:45 and 0:48 and 1:04

Keep uploading and good reeds to you.

  • and 1:07

  • I will try to play it better!

I´m always try to do it better or perfect!

I´m not perfect that´s my biggest false!

I had to play more oftenly by the sheet of this tune mostly i play it bymyself and so it´s possible to make some fale!

    Cheers

    Andreas

  • Me too, thanks for teh uploads.

  • @sgtcrab1 Bollocks, I'm not a fastidious player and I believe in playing with expression, but the particular issues I pointed out seriously degrade the tempo of the music so I pointed it out. Go take your pet peeve and that chip on your shoulder elsewhere.

  • Nicely played!

I'll have my hands full on learning scots wa hae on my practice chanter soon. (just with grace notes, nothing fancier yet), maybe I'll make a vid of it. :P

    Groeten uit Nederland.

  • Thanks a lot my friend!

I´m sure you will master this tune soon!

    Best regards

    Andreas

I hope to see you again next year at the workshop with David and have another fantastic weekend.

  • Wie immer: Gut gemacht!

  • Great playing, and I like the black-and-white effect! Compliments! ^_^

  • Well done!!

  • Awesome man! We played that for our band comp a couple of years ago. Peace.

  • Hi my friend!!!

    Thanks for your comment!

    What´s up with your piping?

    Best regards from Germany

  • Ah, well I put it to the side to be honest...but Shawn and my Pipe MAjor are encouraging me to join out grade five band on the pipes. So needless to say I'm working on my piping again. Hopefully this coming season I'll have some videos to post.. I took last season off, and really missed the comps, and bands.

  • grade 5 is the lowest grade in band grades..go for grade 4 A

  • Already in our grade 4 band as a tenor, and mid section instructor. I'm joining the grade 5's as a way of expanding my pipe band experience, and knowledge. Also, in the EUSPBA, we only have grade 4...no 4a's

  • Once again, nicely played!

    Cheers from Canada, Nova Scotia

  • Thanks a lot my friend!!

    Best regards from Germany

  • Sedalb...let me guess...you either like knives or love to skate!

Cheers from the USA...My dad is buried in Nova Scotia!!(Baddeck)
