The French Revolution ended her life when the people of the new government charged her with treason and sexual abuse against her own son, which were all lies. She was a good woman who was hated by the French for being "L'autrichienne" "The Austrian", and the French hated Austrians. RIP Marie Antoinette and Long Live The Queen

As Tocqueville showed, the revolution was masterminded by an small oligarchy that took advantage of France's awkward economic/social transition. Even when the 'women' (including men dressed as women) stormed Versailles in rage, they could not shoot her. That would make a great moment for a film! The queen standing unflinchingly on a balcony, muskets aimed a her, and in the course of moments, the crowd crying out, 'Long live the queen!'

I am lucky I have a French speaking husband. But even if I didn't and you know the history of this unfortunate Queen it is easy to follow the storylne. This is the best depiction of her time in imprisonment I have seen. If Holywood tried this the results would be a glitzy piece of rubbish like they do to all historical movies they make.
