  • this had me sniggering.

  • Even though you stole everything from me, you are truly the best, Denis.

    BS

  • Lmao at the people who don't get this video ! I teared up on the last overhand shuffle part , I laughed so hard! Perfect imitation !!

  • I fell asleep while watching this video..................no..........I really did. Your card handling sucks....Thanks.

  • @mrbusters You didnt get the point, but thats youtube for ya..

  • Those impersonations pretty much look like my first attempts at those moves pretty closely. I should put out a dvd!

  • I personally have never watched "Artifice, Ruse, and Subterfuge" so I can't say anything about Wesley James' card handling and teaching skills. But if it really looks anything like this then I might have to think again before buying the set.

  • jajajajajajaja............. Hey you need more practice. Nice charlier cut jajajajaja!!!

  • @Lexito150 ur really stupid...

  • that injog was huge LOL

  • You showed up too much.

  • i have no idea how he good the jack there in 1:10 lol .. killer video btw :D

  • You are the noob my friend. This video is a joke!

  • @mattylyonsvideos You are calling Denis Behr a noob :) lol. Noobs don't master by forces unseen.

  • @clangelo03 haha thats hilarious

  • your video is very nice! Where can i learn that false overhand shuffle?

  • Pay attention to the first 5 seconds of the video and you might get a clue...

  • @splice42 i meant the shuffle at 0:56

  • As funny/sad as the video is, the comments are even better!

Denis (with one s) - when are you going to do a Canadian Tour? We have a bunch of stack workers here who would love to see you...

  • how did u make ur charlier look so bad? i tried but i couldnt do it! lol u mustv had to practice that :D

  • :38 .....yea you need to cover that up on the left hand next to your pinkey.....

  • You've totally missed the point of this video.

  • Wesley James totally sucks. If Erdnase ever saw what that wart faced troll did with his book, he would drop his drawers and shit in Wartfaced James face.

  • Wesley James literally raped Erdnase, in the ass

  • hahahaha I know!!!!!!! it was a terrible dvd set. good thing i didnt pay the full $100 for it :D

  • 54"

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    Perfect magic humor!

  • i have to watch this james.. ridiculous ;D

    nice done!

  • Ok, people seem to be missing the point of this video. Read the subtitles at the start, then about half way into the video. It is a spoof of the James handing of the Erdnase DVDs

  • I see you've put 'vernon' in your name to make yourself appear clued up on this magic business, but clearly you have no idea. Maybe you should read up on Mr Behr before you go posting comments that make you look like an idiot. I saw Mr Behr lecture last year and he is VERY technically proficient and a great thinker! Oh and by the way, I watched some of your videos. Nothing to write home about. Must you insist on adding in so many excessive twirls/flips? What ever happened to natural handling?

  • by the way ..the comment below our conversation already gave the explanation i needed ... i think i made a mistake .. but seriously .... : THIS IS NOT ENTERTAINING , FOR ALL I KNOW !!!! DEAL WITH IT ...

sometimes you like the buck twins and sometimes jennings , cest la vie junior !... plus you dont know anything about me ,so dont bullshitize and assume what is convinient just for you ... i didnt realise he was spoofing .... no biggie ... it's all good !

  • haha his aces video is sick, and you only talk about natural handling because you cant do it

  • yeah, ok whatever, not going to bother arguing. Been doing magic 15 years, I know what I'm doing. A laymen would not turn over the top card of a packet by spinning it round his fingers. Therefore it is not natural handling. It's just confusing to watch for the average person. Its not to us cos we are magicians and can follow these things. Being fast and flashy so the spectator has no idea what is going on is just confusing them. And confusion is not illusion.

  • Make it look flashy just adds to "Wow, this guy is good" factor. I mean okay I understand that you want the "natural" aspect of doing magic, but being flourishy is a nice way of presenting magic.

  • looooooooool i agree with u dude he was aweful

  • Cool!

and what the hell with James?

    ....What's the background music?

  • The green deck is unique. Cool video.

  • frankly, I have no idea how you manage to get the JS there on the last shuffle...

  • lol1! me too haah

  • Hahaha, that's brilliant

  • what's with the last move?

  • It's supposed to look bad. He is making a visual commentary on the quality of James' teaching.

  • Erdnase is a wonderful book. Your "before" performance was very well done, I love the lack of flash on the bottom palm. Your "Wesley James" performance was really funny man. He should have stuck to the text. Thank you for this, good laughs.

  • I agree.

    That was some fine entertainment.

  • Still waiting for your DVD set - it's now 2009. You can (I obviously admit) do better - so what's stopping you?

  • Still waiting for your DVD set - it's now 2009. You can (I obviously admit) do better - so what's stopping you?

  • Pretty damn good. Apart from the car exposed from the little finger at :39 it's pretty much flawless. Good work.

  • That was the point of it actually. He was showing a comparison of the all the moves before he does the steal the 2nd time

  • I bet he had to work to make his charlier look that bad

  • I just watched the first 20 minutes of DVD 2, and I appreciate this video even more!!!

I'm already sick of the DVD, he immediately goes in to explaining why erdnase' shuffles, etc. are "wrong" and there is more explantations of "Wesleys improvements" tahn of the actual techniques.

Of course maybe some of Erdnase's techniques would be out dated for cheating, but I think a little more time spent on Erdnase's techniques would prove them better than James seems to think.

  • well, when you have nearly 70 years of experience, and have known and associated with the likes of Dai Vernon, Ed Marlo, David Roth, Harry Lorayne, etc. you may write your own book on Erdnase.

  • Unlike some,

I acknowledge that I am not up to the task.

Who you associate with has nothing to do with your qualifications to teach. Only your skill.

Lastly I stand by my statement, even if James' variations were great; if I buy a DVD set on Erdnase, I want to learn Erdnase's techniques, not someone ideas on what works better.

Now, of course I would be happy (am happy) with a book and DVD set by Dai Vernon showing HIS variations, but James (however good he may be) is no Dai Vernon.

  • HAHAHAHA

    OMG!! ROTFL!

I thought this was serious at first, I was like, PLEASE stick with the "old" way.

That is so funny! I got a free copy of the first 3 DVD of James' set, I can't wait to see if he is REALLY that bad.

Has anyone seen Allen Ackerman's Erdnase DVD set? I bet THAT is great!

  • Hahaha, that was great. :D

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    I love the final sequence!

Havent seen Wesley James but this was a lot of fun. Just received the erdnase.. 'bible style'. I feel saved.

  • i just love your stuff mang!

  • One hell of a bottom palm.... Great work as always! (and finally! someone who knows good piano music... hehe)

  • Wow. Just, wow.

    Great stuff!

  • LoL

  • That was hilarious

    -Jake

  • I don't understand? Is there a joke about some guy named Mr. James? What are the phantom note books? Denis is obviously making fun of James, but who is James? What is the story behind this? Could someone tell me?

  • Wesley James released an Expert at the Card Table 7 DVD Set going over and explaining sleights in the Erdnase book which has been described by some as difficult to read and fully understand. I've seen Wesley's close up work and he has amazing skills and carries tremendous respect in the magic community, but I haven't seen this set so I can't comment on what appears therein. Apparently Denis Behr has and what he has seen doesn't look too good.

  • So it sounds like this DVD set should be in the Comedy Section. lol

    -Thanks dw3541

  • I'm sorry if I'm not sure about whats going on...but if one would do a move flawlessly, wouldn't that veil and showoffiness seeing as the move would be undetected? Doing it sloppily to seem less than what you are wouldn't make much sense in a scenario with real audiences.

  • Perhaps it's a difference in nomenclature. I'm thinking along all those fancy flourishes that basically say, "look how skilled I am, NOW watch me do a trick." You're right. Performing "a move flawlessly" is largely what it's about, but doing fancy spreads, and cuts, unless that's what your show is about, before doing a trick just draws attention to that fact that there isn't anything "magical" you're just slick with a pack of cards.

  • To cont., as an analogy, r you going to be surprised more/less by a guy who shows up in top hat and coattails(I loved Blackstone) or a guy who shows up and isn't broadcasting, "I'M A SKILLED AND POWERFUL PERFORMER" Is anyone surprised that those Fast & the Furious cars take off like a bullet? It's a difference in close up performing styles, I think as performers we can appreciate both. The extreme would be the, "I'm so good you'll never catch me," guy who challenges his audience for good/bad?

  • Wesley does not look "sloppy" doing the moves. He looks like a kid who has read the description once and is bungling his way through it for the first time.

He in-jogs cards for over half their length during overhand shuffle controls, he examines the back of the deck and fumbles for an eternity when attempting to secure a break, he sticks his thumb out at right angles whilst palming and he stares at the audience whilst mouthing numbers to himself for over 30 seconds when doing an overhand cull

  • Very nice!

I like the pianomusic of Medtner (Sonata Romantica) alot!

  • lmfao, I sure hope you are exaggerating.

  • lol thats is just the best thing ive seen in ages, wesley james realy should not have made those dvds. It should have been Darwin Ortiz, R. Paul Wilson or somebody along those lines who realy know how to handle a pack of cards. having watched them i still can't believe that neither him or Simon Lovell could do a smoothe charlier cut, however Simon Lovell was most likely drunk again lol. Hell even I can execute the moves in Expert at the card table better than Wesley can lol

  • Remember Elisha.

  • Maybe you should do a DVD "The Man Who Knows Wesley James"

  • Ouch. That was hilarious.

  • Classic response to those James DVD's. I love it!

  • Wesley James is indeed peerless when it comes to a mastery of the Erdnase material.

"I'll stack my knowledge of the [erdnase] book against almost anyone in the world. I'm confident there aren't more than a half dozen people who would even come close to being as familiar with the material."

    - Wesley James.

  • das war echt spitzenmäßig ;)

  • I LOLED hard. Awesome man.

  • that was hilarious

  • *lol*

    you're so right!

5 stars for the card god!
