  • I like his rendition of this aria better than Bartoli's. Something in his timbre just sparks here, it's amazing.

  • fantastic and great musical.

  • Oh Wow. What incredible range and volume. I'm impressed. Why haven't I got a dimes worth of his talent?

  • @cobalt100 I share your pain. I can't carry a tune in a bucket. Then again: would we appreciate the talent as much if we knew the technicalities?

  • I sang for David Lee in a masterclass last year, and I must say that he is just a genius. Every comment he made to every singer was life altering and incredibly helpful. This recording sounds good, but its nothing like having him sing the song you are trying to sing and do everything perfect. He is just incredible!

  • David Lee sings as only a welltrained classical vocalist can. Unlike Vitas, Lee needs no microphone in order to fill a venue with beautiful, emotive, musical and technically superb vocal music. Could Vitas sing the malllisma lines that Lee does? Probably not. Vitas is a good singer, but comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges.

  • knink24,

Vitas has totally different singing style in comparison to David DQ Lee. Hitting notes is hot what singing is about; it is about how a singer uses his or her range in a way to produce well controlled sound with great and rich timbre. I think David DQ Lee has done that in many ways.

I highly regard Vitas's outstanding singing range as a male singer; however I have to criticize the fact that Vitas does not regard the timbre and richness of sound as much as other singers.

  • I just can't agree. Vitas has a great range, however, he doesn't seem to be nearly as musical as DQ Lee. Vitas seems to be just for show and not nearly as emotive as Lee. Just my opinion.

  • I Love this man's Voice. I'm just finishing my second year of a voice degree as a tenor, but I love to sing counter tenor on my own, apart from my classes just for the sheer fun of it. I love hearing David sing, it's just fantastic.

  • great!

  • That's the way to do it!

  • Great voice control! Wonderfull tones.

    Robert

    (American CounterTenor)

  • He is a mezzo countertenor, very good.

  • not quite a mezzo

  • 대단합니다. 우와!~ 브라보!!!

  • Meraviglioso. Davvero bravo non avevo mai sentito parlare di questo controtenore. Niente male affatto

  • Absolutely beautiful. He's got such depth and passion in his voice.

  • one of the best countertenor I heve seen. exelent voice, exelent interpretation, a great artist.

  • I love it: you sing with interpretation. Also you're voice is great.

  • The voice is nice and beautiful...

  • His voice is of such mellifluous beauty, as pure and honeyed in the upper notes as in the lower. I don't think I have ever heard such warmth and passion in a countertenor before. Agility and extraordinary control!

  • I agree. This is my favourite version of Haydn's Arianna available on YouTube. Ironic, considering it depicts a female character. Don't see cross-gendering this way too often in the opera world...

  • Gorgeous singing, and a deeply felt interpretation. Kudos, David!

  • Mi piace moltissimo!!!!!!

  • crazy!beautiful!

  • Incredible. Such a beautiful voice, in all the range... I hope to hear a lot more of this singer ! Is that you ?
