Guys, if you're not sure of what to do with your overclocking, try to stick at 700/900 WITHOUT PowerPlay.

Somehow, I noticed that using PowerPlay will affect the Frames Per Second of your game. Try to disable it.

I want to overclock so it can run battlefield 3 smoothly, but whatever settings I try, it just runs worse than before.. anyone got bf3 running stable on this card? in that case, what mhz did you use?

I can overclock fine. But when I play for a long time my computer would crash. i use 750/900.

Sometimes it doesnt crash but when I reset the clocks and put my laptop to sleep my screen stays black when I awake it but my harddrive still spins..

Whats wrong here?

@jayxunned ude the 700/900 is much much much better than the 650/1000 because the 1000 is not effecting on anything so its good no need to overcome it

@jayxunned You're pushing the memory clock too high for this card. The 5650 is really unstable with memory clocks above about 935-950MHz. Keep the memory clock lower and just test out the core clock, see how far you can push it before you start to have instability. Watch your temperature closely, different laptops have very different airflow/cooling characteristics and you can do some real damage if you push it too far.

I've managed to also Overvolt mine to 1.0 as it was 0.95, i can get much higher clocks now, 780 stable on the core, i don't really change memory as thats mainly for higher resolutions that helps out.

@theblacksmith93 AMD GPU Overclock utitilty also has a Option to select a higher VDDC voltage which enables you take direct more power from the power supply to the graphics card. MY default laptop charger is only 45W though so ima av to upgrade it to a 90W one :-)

2nd reply, Spoke to a designer that makes factory overclocked cards, he said to me that some 5650 and 5700 - 5850 Mobility cards are different depending on your designer company. Most ATi Cards aren't made by them only designed as far as i know and parts change so there are only base specs. Best way to overclock is to find your maximum speed then go 3 Mhz back that way you are stable and within heat range usually. Hope it helps XD.

My 5650 can make 1000/1100 without freeze, Crysis at maximum run at 30 fps!

THe softwer I use is Msi AfterBurner. I don't touch the voltage for the overclock, only the core and memory clock. I raccomend to use Msi AfterBurner, it make it better I think. I can surely go OVER 1000/1100 because the temperature when I play Crysis at maximun for 15 minutes is about 53°, SO I CAN PUSH AGAIN!

done alot of tests, and the best speed for the RAM adn Core are as follows:

any Switcheable Graphics with DDR3 Core - 650 memory - 933 @ 1v

any 5650 with DDR3 Core 640 Memory - 890 @ 0.9v, 910 @ 0.95v, 933 @ 1v

and 5650 with GDDR3 and/or Swichable Graphics Core 630 @ 0.95v, 650@ 1v Memory 850-900 @ 0.95v 900 - 933 @ 1v

::NOTE::

If any voltages "Core or Memory" go to a higher voltage use the highest reccomended voltage, i reccoment using 1v none the less for stabibility issuses.
