  • wow that's a lot of switching around so quickly, i'm out of breath just watching

  • sweet sweet sweet

  • That was just plain awesome

  • What??!! One take!? Seriously? How in the world did they get that right in one take? I'm amazed. O.O

  • @sweetsolitude99 they have an extremely high level of awesomeness, that is how they were able to do it in one take

  • @toester290 Haha. I believe it!

  • @sweetsolitude99 I think they tried to attempt this a lot of times! And finally got it. They're amazing! This is an amazing video and song

  • I thought it was magic

  • I wonder if keane did the same...

  • O.O nice

  • This video was awesome. This song is awesome. You guys are awesome! Regards from CO!

  • Am I the only one who's wondering why there are little butterfly children running around at the end?

  • Did anyone else notice how at the end of the video her shorts are showing?

  • WOW.

  • That looked like fun!

  • Great video, great song - wonder how many takes it took to get it right?...

  • Emily: "Don't go... Stay with the all-unknown."

    Crew: "And... GO!"

  • Amazing. I just shocked! One shot... jeeezus!

  • Thanks for posting this. At this point, i'm not sure what's more remarkable. The video or the "making of." definitely not staged. Suppose it speaks to the their music. These guys are sincere...and this is coming from a 40 year-old copper!! lol

  • ORALESSS CON QUE RAPIES HACEN EL VIDEO ESTAR CAMBIANDO AL MOMENTO Y CON UN LIMITE DE TIEMPO jejjejejejejejej aaa¡¡¡

  • Wow!!! This is truly amazing!!! When I first saw this music video, I thought that there was no way that they could have done this without some sort of special effects, but this video has proven me wrong. Great Job!!!

  • this is one of those things where it looks like it would take forever to get right and you think there must be a trick. but when you look for the trick you realize there was no trick. it just took forever to get right.

  • the most amazing part is that they made the video in one shot!!

  • Amazing *...*

Que legal, e muito engraçado! Adoro esse clipe, amo a música!

    Amo Metric ♥

  • Any idea what the guy with the beanie who follows the camera is doing? he has some type of device in his hands with an antenna?

  • @dgschmitke If I had to venture a guess he's controlling the camera. It would be very hard for the guy holding it to work the zoom and focus.

  • @dgschmitke He is the focus puller. The device in his hands is the remote. He follows the camera around to watch the monitor so he can focus by eye.

  • This is amazing. One of the coolest things I've seen

  • dude.. how many takes did they do to get this!?!

  • @ozdobby 1

  • @ozdobby - "-see what's going on behind the scenes as the video is being shot in one take!"

  • I wonder how many tries till they finally got it.

  • @JLJS 1

  • This is the magic that got me into filmmaking.

  • Me neither. I thought that they were doing post-editing and cut and paste crap, but now that I see that it was one shot:

--> that art direction needs some recognition too <---

  • VERY IMPRESSIVE.

  • Wow, I didn't think this was actually done in single shot. I am impressed.

  • They did this with one fuckin take? i thought they would hav stopped to switch, but they did it in one go o.0

  • emilys pretty hot on the bass

  • @ymechaie I think she's hot in any context. I think she's just hot.

  • This rules!

  • Nice presentation of a BTS video!!! (L)

  • love the behind the scene version it's awsome

  • love the behind the scene version it's awsome

  • I see a mistake at 2:31

  • when i saw the video i guessed how they did it and after seeing this i learned i was right. it looks tough having to get to your next spot perfectly so you don't have to start over. i wonder how long it took to get it just right?

  • /watch?v=RArccUQ1RWA

  • So freakin' amazing!!!! This was beyond incredible!

  • Yes, these are two different takes, but i see no reason for them to go through this rehersal then fake the real thing. The video is legit for sure.

  • Amazing

  • lol SWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITCH PLACES!!!!!

  • Seeing the video, I was pretty sure that it was all in one take from the beginning (editing this seamless simply couldn't be possible). But then the members had different costumes with every camera rotation so I was doubting myself (how could they change that fast?)... but now it's all clear! They just changed REALLY FAST. XD

  • These are two separate takes.

  • I love Envy Adams

  • @GrantgJackson Thats nice...relevant?

  • @kazalack It's a Scott Pilgrim reference -_-

  • it is amazing if i had to do that i'd end up with the wrong outfit and the wrong instrument they rule

  • Wow...one long take, I love Metric!

  • FUCK, that is amazing, all in one take :O

  • omg its just like russian ark...

  • seriously...... that was frickin cool..... metric forever!.... if she sold me pit stick that was made of chemical waste .... i'd wear it..... forever :)

  • Hmm, the video we're seeing isn't the same one that they're shooting, but I think it's just to prove how they did it. I noticed it was all one shot, pretty cool. :) I wouldn't deny that there was no editing involved.

  • super bueno ese trabajo.. me gusto como se apresuran a cambiarse de ropa

  • Nice video

  • puxa q an dever terminado cansadasos

  • this video remember somthing special

  • the behind the scenes footage and the music video is not from the same take. you can tell, try comparing their exact same movements at a specific time. just saying.

  • @jestersbidding ... using "just saying" is just a license to be an arsehole. Troll.

  • @jestersbidding They're desynchronized. They actually are pretty much the same.

  • 8O <--- My face right now.

  • in the mv, i couldnt tell whothat long haired dude on the drums was, but the guitarist had long hair at the moment!

  • I like that they only used one camera instead of multiple one....SKILL!

  • This video reminds me of Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero & Maps in that order, wonder who directed it. <3 love both of the bands,,

  • @TheSupersurgical

    AHHHH! me too <3

finally someone who can relate ,

  • @msanchez344hotmail ...i never did look up who was the director :p

  • @TheSupersurgical

    They should do a duet ; )

  • i wonder if there exists a video of this with the audio of the shoot (right side) rather than the track. It would be cool to hear them doing it.

  • this is fantastic production work. emily you always have the greatest outfits!

  • wow that just blew my mind! crazy awesome! <3 <3 <3

  • esta version es la mejor great ^^

  • Funny how it look like superbus "Addictions" music video

  • me encata

  • It seemed to me pretty obvious this was an one take video. But it's just great to see the way they did it. Awesome video!!

  • Sometimes seeing behind the scenes only ruins the effect of teh finished product. This one only makes the final video seem all the more impressive.

  • @gruntyfluster Like that movie terminator salvation....it's looking terrible without all the cgi.....

  • @gruntyfluster Hell yea!! it was incredible!

  • It's so funny seeing everyone rushing about but it looks so seamless in the final video. <3

  • got no tim to take a picture ill remember someday...all the chances we took.. were so close.. to somethin better left unknown..we're so close to somethin better left unknown. i kan feel it in my bones.

    \

  • metric saved me from staying up all night crying

  • *officially dumbfounded forever

  • xD at the end with the little kids

  • those legs simply will not quit!

  • This PV deserve an award. Some really crappy videos have won awards and some gorgeously edited videos have won awards, but this kind of beautiful well-made video needs an award more than any of them.

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO! just awesome!!

  • Brilliant work Metric! (:

  • @sophchampion actually I think it was just a bad edit with the final video and the behind the scenes footage. Stll, it's a pretty clever video.

  • that looked like a fun day for the band

  • im suprised no cgi

  • jesus look at the size of the steadycam rig they're using

  • she moves really good!!!!! if i will be a singer i would like to dance and sing like her. She is amazing!!!

  • This is really cool but I'm not totally buying the syncronization of the two camaras. Watch carefully from 2:08 to 2:10. As her assistants are helping her put the guitar on the real video clearly shows her already playing.

I believe that this is how they did the video, but there is definately a continuity error there.

Love the band; love the song...neat video!

  • @bsharpinLondon They probably shot several takes, 2 minimum, and either didn't film behind the scenes for both or chose the one that turned out better. It looked close at first, but you're definitely right about that 2:08 mark.

  • Wow!!!!! It is really nice and intriguing to see a video like this that respects the integrity of a single performance in this way. Not that I am suggesting that their is anything wrong with editing but the fact that this was shot in one take gives the video a kind of unity that most other music videos don't achieve. Fantastic work!

  • With the software they have these days i was thinking overlays on the multiple cam angles and recordings so cheers to the team for a great wardrobe and cam team. Metric rule

  • Now that is how you film a music video.

  • Amazing! Great song, great video, amazing film crew!! Her dance moves are awesome. Hah!

  • stedicam team skill and coordination OVER 9000!!!

  • Oh so THAT'S how they did it! I was so confused when i first saw the music video

  • That was awesome

  • Love you guys...pure genius!!!!!!!!!!!

  • just genius

  • Unbelievable!

  • hahaha!! this is so incredible!

  • We as humans have such great capacity for doing things. There was Einstein, Beethoven, etc. We get together with fellow musicians and decide to form a band. We sit down each day thinking of ideas for songs. And then, One day not any different from the others, we come up with an idea for a song and we do it. That song for some strange reason just clicks. What was so special about that day? Who knows. Metric is a good band and they've done some good music but this song just stands out. Bravo!!!

  • Bear with me here, I'm looking through my 400 page book of adjectives, looking for the right one that describes how I feel about the video work involved in making this video and the song itself. ............. There we go, found it, page 297, "Bloody Frigging Awesome"

  • I think that about summed it up morry!

  • Flawless victory... they never even hesitate. Wow....

  • omg i whas thinking so hard how the hell you can make such a clip and now it seems that it's all about speed and pecision. Nice work and an awsome song

  • unreal fit

  • gives me goosebumps everytime i watch it.. you guess did it so flawlessly..

  • Amazing! Such hard work, but it all went beautifully!

  • AMAZING! they're brilliant !

  • flawless

  • This steadicam operator is amazing. Solid fucking work.

  • So well corigraphed

  • FUCKING SICK!

  • very cool.

  • I didn't think they shot it like this, very interesting. RANDOM BUTTERFLY CHILDREN

  • @cienade Exactly. :)

  • looks fun, lol

  • At 3:21 she lifts her arms as if to say phew - did it!

  • pretty amazing - a hole interesting to watch music video without any cuts...

  • so sick

  • i'm guessing it was a rehearse .. anyway it's a cool video

  • Wow, that's awesome. I love seeing behind the scenes footage like this. Kudos to them.

  • haha FUN! b:

  • Sweet.

  • I wonder if this was done by the same people who did Feist's 1-2-3-4 - another one-take. Emily and Leslie were band-mates and knew each other.

  • god, they must have practiced a lot... it looks so hard!

  • WOAH, MAN!

  • wow! i thought that they edited this

  • awesome video and its in one take1 =p

  • awesome :)

  • i never would've thought that was all done in one take. the first time i saw this, i was thinking to myself, "that is some really good editing. awesome work!

  • @osbely lol me too!!!! i was surprised too but i heard when they try to make music videos they try to do it in a really long day

  • very neat. My sister saw these guys tonight and said it was fun times.

  • Nice team work! The children were so cute in the end. Great job :)

  • lol hurry up! hurry up!

    i think that was awesome!

  • huuuurry! hahahaha! great, ilove it!

  • Very good video great steadicam operator fantastic focus puller and top notch idea!

  • That looks REALLY fun. I love how they're dashing around hats and sweaters flung everywhere. Man, that must be tough to get all that timing! Really, REALLY great vid.

  • genius and skilled

  • she is so hottt don't you just love those legs. what a great package

  • Amazing. Looks so much fun.

  • interesting music, i was a synth pop retard in the late 80s early 90s so to hear synths is cool

  • I would have a stroke doing all that moving...

  • wow! my respect for metric just rose another notch! Glad I could see that.

  • I love how they barley make it almost everytime

  • extraordinary. loved it!

  • One of the guys totally should've done her hip dance thing when they were on the mic. Could've been gold!

  • no.

  • nup i'm sorry but twilight doesn't deserve to have metric in their movie. it'd wreck the song & nobody would take note of the lyrics & how good of an artist Emily is. i haven't seen twilight myself, however i seem to have heard enough about it to not need to watch it myself. anyways, i like listening to alternative bands. if twilight suddenly had METRIC on it everyone would listen to them. anyways, GREAT song. I LOVE METRIC! please don't take offence to the above comment, just saying my opinion.

  • So cool, love the transparency.

...and not just because I'm partisan to the whole idea that blue and red combined gives one another level of perspective. (As promoted by them ol' cheezy 3-D glasses :)

But what's the note say when she starts at 0:01 ...it's attached to the rose? It's like "Hang in there" except that's not what it says.

Plus, I'm certain that pointing out Emily asking for "Here comes the Sun" suggests a preference of whether one wishes to be the Beatles or Rolling Stones. :P

  • except the answer to the question is neither, so that line doesn't really suggest a preference.

  • wow. so THAT'S how they did it! I wondered how they did all the costume changes. Well, now I know. That mus've been hard work. But it all payed off in the end. Great video!

  • I'm really glad to know that, like the Feist video for "1 2 3 4", it's all real people and talented camera framing, and not special effects... well done Metric!

  • o snapppppppp that is kinda hard to pull off

  • wonder how many times that had to be practiced before shooting began. kudos to whoever organized the craziness.

  • I wonder how many times they have tripped running around :P

but they certainly did an increditable job

  • OMFG thats cool. i wish i had the balls to film something that complicated

  • those one shot killers are still a huge mystery for me.....

  • I love her clothes. I want to own her white (drumming) jacket and the sweater she wears playing the bass, in particular. :)

  • that is an incredible feat of organizational mastery! makes me appreciate the video more. the kids at the end are a bit creepy though. but probably because kids just creep me out.

  • lol I think the kids at the end are really cute. But then again, I'm a mom.

Yes, this vid's a great organizarional feat.

  • looks like a lota fun!
