i reallllly would like your help if you knew the solution, PLEASE!

I have this same monitor, vw246h. and i'm trying to connect it to my macbook os x version 10.6.8. I have the adapter for hdmi but whenever i turn on my asus monitor it'll show the start up and then go black. but the blue light on the power button stays on. if i push any other buttons nothing happens. when i unplug the hdmi a screen would show saying hdmi has no signal. any clue whats wrong?

@labancki I have a gtx 470 and it ran max at 1080 at 20 fps-25 fps. It might not run well with your laptop graphics.

Hey, i bought this monitor yesterday and i have a very strange problem with it. If i connect my pc ( graphics card : ATI Readeon HD 5670 with 1 HDMI, 1 DVI and 1 VGA output) it looks horrable with VGA. Then i tried DVI and everything looks just great in Windows, but if i start a game then Windows says : No graphics card.

If I plug HDMI in the monitor it has 4 black arbors ? ( i don´t know the english word for black zones ^^ ) but the games works, just like with VGA... Can someboy help me plz ?

@thetobi000 you probably took care of this already. But that is a common problem with all ATI Radeons. You have to go to the settings and set the display area to 100%, cuz for w/e reason, it's set to 80% by default,hence the black bars.

hmmm sounds like you need a new video card. all performance video cards will have DVI. VGA is garbage. game looks pretty sick. i Just bought a ASUS VE249 LED. its amazing for gaming!

@xnakurax On newegg for 1250 reviews, 948 gave the vh242h 5 eggs (stars), for this monitor out of 976 review the vw246h got 725 5 eggs. Based on that, i say the vh242h is a better choice, it also has a lower price.

@xnakurax the only difference is the size, 242 is smaller but like 1 inch and it has a 5 millisecond response time, and the 246 has a 2 ms response time, so i rather have the faster response time to have better looking video.

I own this monitor....it is AWESOME for gaming.There is absolutely NO GHOSTING with this monitor.I'm a pretty hardcore FPS player Quakewars,Crysis,Unreal Tournament 3,Battlefield Bad Company 2 etc... I have never seen any ghosting and the picture is very sharp,text is also very clear.This was my 1st lcd monitor....I have no regrets.

@AchillesXVII I guess not, if your talking about the optx, i say no. the optix has a higher refresh rate. That monitor is also a tn, which is not as good in terms of video quality as a va or ips based display. I think for the price of an alienware monitor, you should get a good ips monitor, with a good enough refresh rate, and good enough reviews to convince you.

@MLKioncWarlord Monitors aren't for consoles because console games (360/PS3) max out at 720p and monitors are only designed to play at native resolutions, like 1080p for this one. Console games won't look as good if played on a monitor with a higher native resolution than the games are designed for.

@MLKioncWarlord Don't listen to him. Many HDTVs are in 1080p, but that doesn't mean 720p looks worse compared to a TV that just outputs 720p. The monitor/HDTV will upscale the image to 1080p and will look exactly the same.

However, HDTVs are generally better for consoles for other reasons. You get what you pay for, really. You can't expect your 360 to look as good on your $200 monitor as your $700 Panasonic plasma.

@Garyyx24 slightly, but i have a pretty responsive keyboard so i dont hit the keys heavily. It does wobble im sure its nothing to worry about, I dont worry about it.
