  • Reserves

    :-)

  • Has this video been authorized, there is pictures of CTAT covered equipment. You trying to spark a diplomatic incident with the Yanks?

  • I have questions to ask of though.

I know everyone who joins goes through basic training (got that out of the way) but I was going to ask, do you need to pick either artillery or infantry for part time as one of your chosen jobs to continue on with a trade? Because really I just wanted to pick, Cook, Imagery Technician (Really want this one), or plumping and heating technician.

  • how old do you have to be to join? Im 15 now. and do you have to be in cadets or anything to join?

  • @hockeyspencer1 If you listined towards the end, you have to be between the ages of 16 - 57. You do not have to be in cadets but it does help (I'm a Flight Sergeant in air cadets). However, cadets and I believe the reserves does their timing on drill differently from the regular force which make the regular for not like cadets as much. they still like them but it falls under attitude. (Example: attention - at ease in cadets is "up down" but regular is "1, 2 (or 1, 1)"

  • @BothtaweeKelly Also, it depends on what trade you plan to join. Some MP's are reserves but you need police foundations or anything related to that or law to join them (youngest I heard in the MP's was 19). Combat engineers might need carpentry and or auto-motive high school credits. Check with your local recuiter for details on the unit you plan to join.

I might be able to help you more, but I can't always give a positive answer for I havn't joind the CF yet. I'm in my 6th year of cadets.

  • @royalmarine1011 what type of schooling do I need like (grade 12) and also how can I join since I live in a small town in bc called lillooet I don't know where to get the forms that I need to fill out

  • The enrollment age for the reserves is now 17, if you're 16 you can't join. And Regular force and Reserve force all have the same level of training.

  • Do full time reserves have the same training as regular force troops?

  • Canadian Forces is nothing like the American Militiary. Everyone is so nice and respectful in the Canadian Forces.

  • can i join the Reserves then go into the full time forces after school ?

  • could i join the Reserves when im still in highschool ?

  • @Rick34ize yes you can as long as you are 16

  • Armoured Recce Is not a trade! Its Just Armoured.

  • Aye Holla At Jaffa* See If I Meet Credentials... To Be At They Service. Perhaps More Education... White Man Lol ... Respect.

  • would it be better to join the army reserve or naval reserve?

  • 1 person was denied due to being a hoser, and then trolled for the recruitment videos to dislike.

  • well im not qualified then , still a perm resident only

  • @Dragonbornn oh and sarg you look fine and danddy , can you run at least 10 km ? lol

  • I wish to join the Canadian forces on the front lines part of the infantry. So if someone could explain the requirements and some guidelines, I'll be very thankful!

  • what happen if you fail the the aptitude test? is this means that you don't have a change to join the reserve because you fail.

  • @stingraydelta i really hope this is a troll...

  • How smooth is the switch between Reserve to Full service?

  • His button is undone he owes me a pop ;) you have to know a little about the army to get the joke.

  • @CORPORALcartman lol i heard that all the time in cadets:P

  • Reserves is the best way to go. You can serve your Queen and Country, and you dont have to get caught up in stupid wars.

  • I believe I have commented on this video before (perhaps, still not certain) but unfortunately I have no audio (my problem). I do have 1, simple question:

Is the basic training for reservists different than that for the regular force? Or do reservists get the exact same training, just as long but they only serve part time?

  • Comment removed

  • @m1up All the major checks are covered in both, you will learn drill, weapons handling, first aid etc... Time spent on a topic in a reserve BMQ is usually more condensed. Then you are off to the second portion called BMQ Land (or SQ/soldier qualification) which is all your fieldcraft (if in ontario your looking at meaford).

  • @Robert0288

Thanks for the response. I am considering the reserves as something to do later in life and it sounds like its great to be a part of it. If I were in Alberta where would I go?

  • Cant wait till im 16

  • @matthe18 enlistment has been changed to 17 years of age. According to my recruiting buddy.

    ~Thanato

  • do reserves have to do the bmq first ?

  • @jonathanrodney21 Everybody in the CF has to do BMQ, Officers do BMOQ IIRC.

  • @416xplod I just handed in my application for the Infantry. How is it that you don't have to be athletic to pass when you have to run 2.4km under the time of 12 minutes?

  • @Bargains1 12 minutes is simple for a person who is slightly in shape

  • @Blazing234 mmmk whatever you say.

  • @Bargains1 I did the 2.4 k this past weekend. We were told 11 minutes. I did it in 8:22 and I'm of average athletic ability. I think the best time was 7 something. Our instructors seemed impressed though.

  • this guy is so full of shit...

  • Dammit, I so badly wanna join the Reserves...! I have no job right now, and I'm 18. The CF Reserves is a great way to make some money, and do what you love, helping this glorious country!

  • If u need any joining help I would be glad to answer Been in for a while now

  • @royalmarine1011 what is the phisical fitness requierment before they accept you? like what will be on the fitness evaluation

  • @MrRenegademovies you have to walk up some stairs and do 20 push ups and crunches

but you should be able to do more then that

They also test for grip strength make u squeeze a machine that tells how much force you can grasp

  • @royalmarine1011 k thnx

  • @royalmarine1011 um are you a marine hense the name and if you are canadian then if i do join the reserves would my education still be payed for

  • @royalmarine1011 I just need to focus on passing the test. One more fail and it's a strike out. It would be some freak of nature if they discoualified me for my hearing after I pass the test

  • @royalmarine1011 Can I join any time of the year or is it only starting at the end of summer.

  • @kop4321 any time before or after summer is fine

  • @royalmarine1011 That's awesome, thanks a lot buddy!

  • @royalmarine1011 I'm 16, is it possible for me to join the reserves and still go to school?

  • @ibetroll sure is enjoy

  • @ibetroll u could apply to reserves through a co-op at your school if they do that, if not id talk to a recruiter

  • @royalmarine1011 Do you know anything about Task Force Arrowhead, a new SF that is getting set up this year? Are they a tier 1 SF like the JTF2? And is the CSOR supposed to be taking JTF2's place as a tier one SF?

  • @ibetroll sorry can't disclose this information

  • @royalmarine1011 id just like to kno if u have any tips on how to prepare and im nervous to join the reserves:P

  • @royalmarine1011 hey man i want to join in the spring but im just confused as to how to go about it. i live in the ottawa area.

  • @royalmarine1011 hi im almost 16 and considring joining the reserves and have a few questions if i join will i have to particpate in the remebrance day assemblies at my high school. and thats just one question if you awnser back i will send you more thank you

  • @royalmarine1011 what do the reserves do on the week nights?

  • @seanmichael93

    obviously watching hockey.

  • @royalmarine1011 i have some question

  • If anyone needs help go to ARMY(DOT)CA! Make an account and ask your question in the the apropriate section!

  • I signed up already gotta do the test and done

  • uh what are the phicical requierments to join it just says you need to be fir for it like how many push ups or sit up do I have to do and stuff like that?

  • so if ur in the reserves, u dun have to fight? and wat if u do the reserve basic training but then after u wanna join the regular forces, will i have to go through regular forces basic training or would i have direct entry?

  • @imnoobish reserve training is the same as reg force.

  • @ichibakudan lol not realy dude. It is not the same at all...

  • I have a question about joining the Canadian forces do they have an I.Q test when you go to sign up

  • is the reserve only really ment for people in school cuz im out of school and wanna do the reserve for a job

  • @Darkness0111

dont just do it for a job, do it cause you wanna do it. im in the reserves and am about to finish SQ (bmq land) and if your doing it just for a job then you wont survive

  • @Darkness0111 Its for anyone that fits the criteria, watch the video and pay attention. Its basically like a part time job.

  • 3:02 onward... so true...

  • Hi, I turned 16 in February and I recently got my paperwork. I want to join infantry, but I've heard they changed the age to 17? Also, who are the people I will be working alongside? I've heard they are high school drop outs, old chubby people and hobos. I want to be part of something intense and challenging. Is Army Reserves the right thing or should I wait for reg forces. Should I and can I join?

  • @GuitarQueero1 age was changed in Feb to 17

ive been in the Infantry reserves for 2 years and ive never worked with anyone with an iQ under 130, they are all smart, top of the class type students involved heavily with athletics. Most of the guys in my section are late highschool/ early university students. While i cannot speak for the university students, the highschool guys i go to school with are all on the honour role except one. and he isnt on the honour role because he is doing coop....

  • @j0ely24 do they make you do an IQ test when you join?..lol.

  • what time do you have to be up in the morning for the reserve

  • @Darkness0111 man it all depends on what your doing, im recce and some time your up a 2, or you may of had no sleep at all

  • Hey guys, I was just wondering how basic training works for the reserves? How long is it? And where would it be if I live in the GTA? Thanks!

  • Sweet i can sign up soon

  • damnit i want to join, but im too young

  • @kevin1001100 your going to be fine as they wont assign you a task you cant physically achieve. i am 19 6"3 and 200 pounds they will give me all the hard shit lol

  • I'm 17 soon to be 18. I'm still in highschool but I wanna join the reserve. I am insanely strong for my age , but lack a lot in cardio. Any tips on how to get ready for the army? I wanna be in it till I die. I lift a lot of weights. And sometimes run.

  • I live in Canada but the usa forces seems better. They have much up to date weapons, armor, gear, vechicles, etc. Everything the Canada forces have seems outdated.

  • @killerex010 actually the Canadian Forces have some of the most advanced wepaons and vehicles out there, for instance the C7A2 (our main rifle) is a much improved version of the m16 which is Americas main rifle, and as a Canadian soldier you will receive much better training and much better equipment then an American soldier will, simply because Canada has less soldiers to supply, so they can spend more money per soldier than America.

  • @zazszdzfzgzhzjzkzlzx Well the C7A2 is not that different from the M16A4. What about body armor? They have the new Modular Tactical Vest which is lighter, has more protection and more flexible.

They have the AT4 and we are still using the M72 Law. The AT4 is more deadly, has alot better range, accuracy. They have the M9 which is much better sidearm then the Browning 9mm that was designed a hundred years ago.

  • @killerex010 C7 actually has a lot of improvents over the m16 (mostly internal things) like shooting faster, being more reliable, etc. We also have the C9A2 which is also a much imroved version of the SAW M249. we are phasing out the browning to the Sig Sauer P226. We have the Leopard C2 as our main battler tank which is probably tied or a little bit better then the Abrams. We have the LAV 3 as our main troop carrier, they have Humvees, LAV 3 is way better then a humvee.

  • @killerex010 When your deployed with the CF you will have A LOT more resources at your desposale then an American sodlier will. But the best thing about the CF (and the most important, not to mention) is the training, in The CF you will get a lot better training than in the US Army. Between Numbers, Equipment and Training; you would be a fool not to choose training. Just remember, quality over quantity.

  • How many days do you have to work in the canadian forces reserves? Also, is the age to join the reserves still 16 or did it change to 17?

  • @paintballlwars28 yeah im 16 and i waent to join this weekend, but guess what , they changed it to 17 a couple of months ago, so im extremely pissed off

  • im aware that there's a medical exam you have to go through before joining, anyone knows what kind of medical exam it is?Will they do a genitals/prostate exam?

  • @dmoneyxd no the just check your hearing/vision etc. they get you down to your boxers, no peeking.

  • Ok so im 14, still in junior high, i was thinking of online schooling next year until i get an education... does anyone know if that would affect getting in the reserves?

  • i'm in university, is it too late?

  • For anyone interested in joining the Canadian Forces I highly suggest that you look at Forces.ca and go speak to your nearest recruiter in person. The information you can obtain from those two things is far greater than what is available on YouTube. That said, this video does provide a lot of insight.

  • loll at 1:07 its my dad

  • Hi, Im 15 years old, In the cadet program and am interested in joining the Air Force as a pilot when im 18 years old.

I just want to know will joining reserves help my luck in being a pilot. Also, do they have a program setup in vancouver, B.C ?

  • @JohnnyGiard you have to get a degree before they will let you pilot anything, youre not gonna be a pilot at 18. you could to ROTP (i think thats how its spelled) and take your degree through RMC

  • @JohnnyGiard lol u cant just "join" as a pilot, u need to become an officer, and u need university degrees, if you start at 18 it will be a couple years before u even touch a plane

  • im in grade 11 and i have a job part time that i do on weekends and i was woried that my work would not let me take off one weekend a month

  • i have a question..a stupid one though :(

was just wondering how long it takes a private rank reservists to get to chief warrant officer the last ncm rank ?

  • well, it has always been the back of my head ever since my mother enrolled me in Cadet`s, it taught me alot of things and it was all hands on experience. Im 21 now and was wondering, just how physically fit, Id have to be to join the forces. I smoke a pack a day and am a coffee drinker, but Im in good shape, not supplement ripped or gym built but still dont know about those 25 pull ups. on the other hand ive been told great things about the reserves and educational benifits.got a work out sheet?

  • Hey im 18 and im in gr.12 , I am thinking of joinin the reserves. Does anyone know the pay rate? Im from BC canada, And Do you get deployed to war if ur in reserves? And I heard reserves are like 1 week then you go home for weekands. aight thanks.

  • @fastone32

Check out the forces.ca website for information on the Pay Scale.

As for your second question, yes you do get deployed to war as a reservist, however it is strickly volintary and you have to submit your name through the appropriate chain of command.

    Regards,

  • Im 17, 185 pounds 6'4. Im thinking about joining the reserves but im not sure. Do you get the same training in the reserves as you do in the full time force?

  • Hello, My name is Michael and i am currently 16 years old. I want a career as an RCMP officer but would like to join the reserves, and was wondering if it could fit my high school days and if there is some sort of transportation system as I live in a remote town in BC (Merritt, Country Music Capital, not really proud of the country music thing but you get the point) because my mother doesn't like driving that much and she doesn't like me driving either :P

  • Great video, thanks for the heads up. Can't wait to join next year. Is it safe? My mom wants to know haha.

  • @GuitarQueero1 I think more people get hurt working in fast food restaurants every year than in the Army reserves.

    lol

  • Oh man. I dropped out of highschool this year (Would be gr 12 right now) with 11 1/2 credits... Do I have to go back to school and get the additional 4 credits to be accepted? Or are there any alternatives?

  • hey so im 15, i turn 16 on the 24th of june, do i go in the summer? or after the summer? do i go to school there? how does it work? someone please answer my question : /

  • @unrealshrimp you must be 16 to hand in your application, it will take some time to get in so you most likely not make the Summer program. You do not go to school (high School that is) in the Reserves you still stay at home unless you go away in the summer.

    I hope that helps!!!

    Sgt (Ret'd) Hensman

  • Thanks, that was a very informative. I'm seriously considering joining the reserves next summer. I just thought I'd ask if you know anything about exchanges since I'm a university student. Would I have that opportunity to study abroad? I'm just wondering what the rules are with regards to that. Thanks again.

  • How old do i have to be to enlist Fully, (not thr reserves) and is there a certain age i have to be to be shipped over seas? Or can i go at 16-17?

  • @whygod1105 you wouldnt be shipped anywhere at 16 or 17. youd have to be 17 with parents consent to join regular force and at least 1 year of full training before you would be completely knowledgable in your trade. and after that its up to them when they want to ship you and your unit overseas

  • Man i wanna join so bad

  • Wait... I can leave at ANY time? Like ANY time?

I also have one more question... what's the point to have an army reserve? It's like you pay people to shoot guns and that could leave at any time if they wouldn't like it.

  • Hey, i'm 15 years old in 5 months, I'm joining the Reserves when I turn 16 and finish grade 10. What is the pay rate will you are in the reserves and also will the hours fit my schooling because I want to finish highschool at the same time as I join the reserves.

  • @micheal4400 I have no idea what the pay will be when you go to join! The reserves is set up for students, you should be fine!

  • Comment removed

  • @micheal4400 you should join a co-op program. You'll get your credits as you train, so it saves a lot of extra time and work. If that helps :)

  • @micheal4400

how hard is it to google Canadian forces reserve pay scale

took me about 10 seconds to find that. if you want to join the Canadian forces put a little effort into it and take the initiative

  • @veiledal lol good point!!!

    Sgt (Ret'd) Hensman

  • @micheal4400

Dude, same here haha, can't wait. You get paid around 83 dollars a day. And it's one day a week and one weekend a month. Good luck.

  • @micheal4400 i did the same thing i start this summer you make $80 a day and work on weekday and one weekend ever 2 weeks this is for the army

  • @micheal4400 the pay rate starts at 85 per day of work. However the CF Reserves recently increased the age restrictions from 16 to 17 so unfortunately you are going to have another years wait.

  • @micheal4400 You have to be 17. I am joining.

  • @micheal4400 If u go to the CF website u can find info on the pay grades. and if not u can email them and ask.

  • @micheal4400 The pay scale is on the CF site, and Im 16 in the reserves, it really easy to finish school when you are in the reserves. its a great thing to join up

  • @Mavrickr please tell me more

  • @micheal4400

starting pay for private recruits is about 85 bucks an army day. which is 6 hours or more. may sound decent but in the end you work about 22 or 23 hours a day on the weekend course, and only a few less then that during the summer course, and thats over 5 days. in the end you make like 5 bucks an hour haha

  • @micheal4400 sorry to say this man but as of January 2011 the age to join the reserves is now 17 you are going to have to wait another year

  • @Captinsappy58 I am born on Dec.25.95 (Turning 16 on that date) so can I apply in that 6 day period

to the Cf as Regular Officer Training Plan?

  • @micheal4400 lol are u joining the reserves just for the money?

  • im 16 5"8 and about 135 pounds. are there lots of smaller people like me in the reserves or would i feel like a pussy lol

  • @norcofoxrider lol you will be fine!

  • @armysgtca kk if i am 5'6 and 175 pounds do you think i could you know pass like because what i sound i sound fat but i oly have 13 pounds of fat on me i can do the push stuff but how important is it that you have to be able to run 5km

  • @Freepepsi42 the fitness level is what it is, you have to keep in mind that several people are applying for a few jobs so any advantage you have is better for you. On that note anything that may hinder you will be a problem. What I suggest is you start running now to get in good shape for your test.

    Good Luck

    Sgt (Ret'd) Hensman

  • @BushTroopers yeah thanks dropped to 167 on my way to 150 thanks i'm at 2.3km non stop but i have 2 years left till i join. and thank you for the advice and your service to canada.

  • @armysgtca Hey im in police foundations and was thinking about joining is this what I should consider or should I just do auxiliary policing? please reply thank you..

  • @norcofoxrider na they will make soilder out of you

  • @norcofoxrider na they will make solider out of you

  • @norcofoxrider Size has nothin too do with how pussy you are... Im 5"7 and could beat the shit out of most kids in my unit

  • @norcofoxrider I'm 5"7 never received any heckling from my fellow candidates ; )

  • @norcofoxrider I'm 4'11 and just under 120 lbs, I'm getting sworn in in a week, if you can meet the physical requirements I'm sure you'll be good to go.

  • @norcofoxrider im 5'3" and 115 pounds, i got accepted

  • joining the reserves next year!

  • So I am 16 and am planing on joining the reserves maybe this spring. Just a couple of questions... First one is how many 16 year olds join usually? is it rare would i be the only 16 year old there? and second one for the 1 weekend a month what do you do in that weekend and do you stay over night? Thanks alot, sorry for these annoying questions you probably get asked frequently. Cheers

  • @urfaceismessed thanks for watching and asking your questions!!!

Just before I was getting out 16 years olds were among the majority of new recruits in the GTA.

I can't tell you what you will be doing on weekends as they change regularly. Your best bet is to ask a recruiter what they do in the job you are interested in doing!

    Good Luck!

    Sgt (Retired) Hensman

  • @armysgtca Hey just wondering are there reserve elements for the paratroopers/air assault or is that a full time job? And what are the educational requirements if you have been educated abroad and only recently became Candian? Thanks.

  • @urfaceismessed Hey im in police foundations is joining a good idea on my part or should I just go with auxiliary police? please reply thank you..

  • @vallo220 I found that joining the Reserves is very good if your interested in being a police officer. Remember they don't want robots for cops (I know that is hard to believe) if everything in your past is all cop related then what life experience are you bringing to the table?

    Hope that helps!!!

    Sgt (Ret'd) Hensman

  • @urfaceismessed sorry about that last message meant for the dude who put tjis vid up lol

  • @urfaceismessed On weekends, it's usually an FTX, which is a field training excersize where you do combat simulations with blank ammunition. Well, for the infantry, that's what you would do, normally.

  • Thinking about joining reserves, what kind of hours would I be looking at? As well as I have heard the Basic trainign varies from summer and winter.
