  • Damn what guitar is Lonnie playing with here?

  • Fucking Gold!

  • Something about the look on SRV's face tells me he loved Oreos almost as much as he loved playing the blues for his fans.

  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • I got to do an on-air phone interview with Lonnie Mack years ago. A very nice person and a great talent. No surprise SRV listed Lonnie as one of his primary influences.

  • How great!!!! One of my favorite songs...I need to find Cincinnati Jail now...and to see these two together! SRV is fantastic, also. WOW!!!! My only problem is I'm starting to do the things Lonnie talks about. Thanks so much for posting this masterpiece.

  • theres oreos on sale 2 packs for $6 AT CVS

  • perfect song for a fat kid on a diet

  • "the next best thing to nookie...."

  • Ha hilarious song.

  • Consummate professionals both. they know how to step out and play a lead then fade back and keep it going while the other wails. Too many players want to always be the center of attention. The look on Stevie's face says it all. he was flat loving playing with Lonnie. Big ol' shit eating grin on his face! That's a happy bluesman right there!

  • Lonnie is terribly unappreciated for his merging blues and rock and creating rock and roll as we know it today.

  • Damn cool though.

  • I don't know how Stevie can play like that. Looks like he's getting ready to open a jewelry store.

  • Thank you so much for this post. I had never seen it.

When Stevie died it was like we lost a member of our family. Wore a black armband. Hell of a loss....

    Awsome video! Thanks.

  • lol 5 losers out there ...God who could not like this.

    god bless the hot sistas!

  • Trouble In Mind...........Hank Jr.

  • Trouble In Mind..........Hank jr.

  • did someon know where i can find the tablature of this song please ?

  • The first time I heard SRV, I thought of Lonnie Mack. Lonnie was probably a strong influence. Me and my sister used to dance to Lonnie Mack playing "Double Trouble" in front of a Seeburg jukebox in the '60's.

  • @oldmus60

Stevie said that Lonnie Mack really taught him to play from the heart, so strong influence is an understatement!

  • a fat kid such as myself could not get away with playing this lol..

  • Oh woowee... I'm in heaven ! Great Stuff. I hav'nt read all the comments here, but can it be true that someone has said anything negative about this clip of music ? Did your medication run out or what ?

  • \m/ yeeaa oreeo cookie bluees ^^

  • Stevie was having fun there too, he smiled the wqhole way through. Too cool.

    Jimbo

  • Thanks for posting this, Lonnie is my cousin and he wrote the song. Lonnie deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

  • So does SRV, and he deserves it more than anybody else!

  • @grga888 Hell YES!! : )

  • @grga888 I'd say he deserves to be in there just for the fact that nobody else could play guitar with that many rings on their fingers.

  • @the12thwoman I CAN'T AGREE WITH YOU MORE

  • @the12thwoman say hello to your cousin =] and tell him he have a supporter from Saudi Arabia >>> that's right! all around the world =],,,people are the real hall of fame! not some stupid judges!

    Cheers V

  • @the12thwoman YES he does!!!

  • @the12thwoman It will be criminal if Lonnie isn't recognised as one the great blues guitarists (and singers). Been a hero of mine since '63 and managed to see him in concert when he came to the UK quite a few years back.

  • @the12thwoman he sure does. I think the sounds he made in Cincinnati were the blueprint for 'southern rock'; blending rock, soul, blues, country and gospel.

  • @the12thwoman Lonnie is a legend.

  • great video, thanks for sharing!

  • dang. ive never heard anyone rip it up on an acoustic like that before like stevie did. that was friggin insane.

  • gives me cold chills and goose bumps

  • Very clever, well done, I'm hungry! :-)

  • I looked all over for tabs for this tune but found none. The best advice I can give is pick up a simple blues riff in E and improvise like hell.

  • I'm working on it, but if you find it please do share.

  • Does anyone have tabs for this? They would be appreciated.

  • i cna here this for free if i got to tenesse because lonnie is my uncle =)

  • Pure unadulterated genius.

  • that is the cream filled Cincinnati Kid

  • humor in music is the frosting on the cookie - it don't get better than that

  • i cant help but think of this every time i eat oreos now SRV and oreos two of my faves

  • anyone got tabs??

  • 12 bar in E

  • 650 of them, and I am keepin em all to my own self! Jones ON! bye.

  • Keeper. God and Lonnie. Kools.

  • Your a loser you suck at guitar, and distortion isnt ever thing

  • dude, if you think that in order to sound good you need distortion, then you obviously use distortion to hide how awful your guitar playing is

  • First off, you obviously have no clue what good guitar playing is. Second of off you obviously have no respect for anyone if you can insult a dead human being, a great human being for that fact. Third off, you have absolutely no videos up you loser. Or maybe you took them all down cuz people made fun of how you probably hide behind distortion? Either way, learn to have some respect, loser.

  • AMEN BROTHER!!!! Two of the GREATEST EVER TOGETHER ON STAGE

  • Gotta love it!!!!!!

  • i love how over teh top stevie is with accessories his rings his hat necklaces etc,

wish ppl still dressed liek that

  • He looked kind of funny and dressed kind of funny(Not saying that to insult him, I love SRV) But he sure could play; and there's nothing funny about that.

  • Thank you for this

  • Next best thing to-----(I'll say it) Nookie. A very distant second especially if you have icing on your lips. Great Post. This song is truly funny. Limp Biscuit's "I did it for the Nookie" is also great!

  • simple blues in E keep playning

  • did the video screen just get wider?

  • Does anyone knows the scale? Then I perhaps will be able to figure the song out :)

  • Stevie playin'slide very rare.1st time seen him slide in The DVD Live in Montrex 82.

    amazing.

  • He played on 6 or 7 songs with slide.

    He was great on slide.

  • Stevie was great with everything he did. It's just a shame that he didn't do more songs with a slide

  • Stevie played many songs with a slide.

Here are some of the songs he did with a slide (live and in studio): Slide Thang, Will My Man Be Home Tonight, The Sky Is Crying, Give Me Back My Wig, Boot Hill, Star Spangled Banner, Tin Pan Alley, Slip Slidin' Slim, Couldn't Stand The Weather, Oreo Cookie Blues, etc...

As you said, he was great with everything he did, and although the slide may not be his first and best tool, he was still rockin and playing wow!

  • Boot Hill off of The Sky Is Crying album is slide? I have that poster hanging up in my room and I love that song. And I'm sure Slide Thang, Tin Pan Alley are off of In The Beginning album. But do you know where I can find the versions of the other songs you listed, such as Will My Man Be Home Tonight, The Sky Is Crying, and Couldn't Stand The Weather can be found? You're a die hard Stevie fan like me so I'm sure you know exactly where I can find them

  • I don't know where you can find them, sorry...

I do know that I would certainly like to have them and hear them (as much as you do)!

The reason how I know it cause I read on many SRV web sites of his live concerts that info.

If there is any help this is where those 3 songs were performed (info):

Will My Man Be Home Tonight - live with Thriple Threat, don't know what year...

The Sky Is Crying, Fitzgeralds - 1982

Couldn't Stand The Weather - Hordern Pavillion Sydney 1986.

  • im not sure about boot hill...im working on the song, at it seems to me that the intro and solo is slide but that the verses and the chorus is normal...

  • Great stuff.

  • hahaha this so cute makes want eat oreo cookie

  • Anybody got Lonnie singing Cincinatti Jail?

  • This video should have more hits than this!!Its great to see this.I watch it every day!!soon i have the record Strike Like Lightning in my hand.

  • Thx yes i am.Got it now in my hand and its burning hot.Lonnie is great and amazing!!

  • how quickly does he produce and get rid of that slide lol its amazing! everything that man does is skilled

  • Totally amasing!!My hairy arms just vibrates of this.My heart cries for Stevie and he is my heart and soul. R.I.P

  • What a great video I was robbed of the chance of seeing SRV. I finally scored tickets to see him Sept 28'th 1990 at the Kern county fair and we know what happened I cried for days.

  • Thanks for posting !!!

  • God Damm...DIG IT, MAN!!

  • great track

  • Great performance from two blues greats!!

  • thanks for the vid !!!

  • For your info you waterhead, the studio version of Pipeline was SRV with Dick Dale, and live was SRV with J.L.Vaughan!

  • hilarious song stevie ray vaughan my idol long live the blues

  • lovely song, fun lyrics, great guitars ( offcourse ), but there's an elctric version as well, on a bootleg called, mr.clean (just out of rehab) that will really knock ya of ya feet, with lonnie mack, it's probably one of his best guitar duets ( among the pipeline duet with his brother ) . + unbelievable versions of life without you, little sister, rude mood...etc..

  • The pipeline duet Stevie did was with Dick Dale surf guitar legend, just for your info.

  • he might mean the pipeline jam stevie and his brother did on a double neck guitar. its here on youtube somewhere. it turns into pipeline near the end.

  • great track
