Yes the debt doubled because of the bailout, but what was he really supposed to do? Overall, if you plot it on a graph, the shit storm started under Bush plateaued somewhere around the end of his first year in office and has been eeking back down ever since. If it was set to spike again I might agree with you, but it doesn't look that way to me.

You know, for many presidents, brilliance is not the characteristic that made them great. It is their ability to lead a nation that expects certain things. Bush the younger may not be a professor of Constitutional Law like Obama, but he is a man of principles, which seems to be something Obama doesn't have and is willing to ride the fence.

And I would say they both have principles, it's just that Bush's were dead wrong but he stuck to them anyway, while Obama's have mostly been right but he keeps compromising them. However I have been very disappointed that he has been trying to push his tax deal with Republicans.
