@onthewall888 Haha True! Of course. I think many celebs of Hollywood and the entertainment business knew to some extent and accepted it in a sense, but it was not spoken about to the general public...maybe idk sometimes I wonder. Nowadays though...everybody knows about everyone else's business.
tee hee i dont believe Niven ever spoiled anything for Brando,,,,he is Brilliant,,,,and still with us,,,,brilliant post,,,,i havent seen the film yet but will soon,,,,
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
the actors(niven and brando)chemistry was off, this is just as good as dirty rotten scandrels except the cast was wrong, niven was perfect but they shud have cast jerry lewis or some1 as freddy ,brando played the part to serious and pulled niven down with him, brando is great but not this film
Funny enough, in his autobiograhy "Songs My Mother Taught Me", Brando states that it´s the most fun, he ever had on a set. However, I do believe the second version with Caine/Martin tops this one.
You're right! He could have used his Fletcher Christian accent from Mutiny on the Bounty or his William Walker accent from Burn to play Bond. I've tried to post a picture of him in a tuxedo from Countess From Hong Kong on the Daniel Craig is not Bond site, but I don't know how.
please can someone answer me this question! there was a fi in the 70's i think with marlon brando.. with lots of hanky panky sex suf. is this the film? cus i heard about it
Since all three actors were playing way over the top, this film was a farce, and very funny if one doesn't take it at all serious...just as Life: live each day, without worrying about death that comes soon enough, regardless of any emotional investment! 5*****
No problem. I remember reading that he was certain he wanted to be cremated. He didn't want a grave where fans etc would visit. I can totally understand that.
Ah, I don't think you're alone in that. A lot of people fear death until they get old (and ill) and it feels right that their time is up. Brando was like that.
Religion comforts some people I guess. Freud thought that as long as people fear death there will be religion. Marlon would quote Shakespeare 'Of all the wonders that I yet have heard,
This is one of my favorite Brando movies! You rarely hear people talk about what a great comedic actor Marlon was, but he's so funny in this movie and also in 'Candy' from 1968. Steve Martin even emulated some of Brando's gestures and facial expressions in the remake.
I haven't had the chance to see this movie yet (now I'm going to have to) but is the plot a sort of early version of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels? Its just this seems like a scene from that aforesaid movie and I'm rather curious if Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (which is great, Steve Martin & Michael Caine)ripped this movie off. Michael Caine always reminded me of David Niven in that movie.
It's practically a shot for shot re-make. I love them both. But I like the surprise ending in the re-make. If I'm not mistaken, this one was supposed to have the same ending but somebody in the front office objected.
It was really cute. Worth a look. all actors should have lessor works like this one. The update Dirty Rotten Scoundrals with Steve Martin paled in comparison to this the original.
David and Marlon: outstanding personalities and actors in an era which demanded character and perfectionism. David never talked about it but served in Phantom section; SAS, recce behind enemy lines at great risk. Then back to Hollywood as if nothing had happened! Remember him...
There are drag lines on this vid. Here's a tip to get rid of the drag lines. If the source of the video is in dvd format then turn it into an avi or other video format by using a program called flaskmpeg. Flask mpeg has a deinterlace box that you can tic. Set it at 50 and then convert the vid. This gets rid of those annoying drag lines. Flaskmpeg is a free program. Please pass the word around.
Best/worst line: "I wish my heart was in my legs, then I wouldn't have to feel the pain". Actually, I preferred this to the remake. Similar in tone to the great Doris Day/Rock Hudson comedies of that era, but taken to the nth degree.
Steve Martin did this same scene in"Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." with Michael Caine. I wish David Cassidy would have walked on with his guitar and said, "Mom, your wanted on the set. Will this scene take long?".
I really love it!!!!! David Niven is fantastic...<3
