I'm shy and I'm 23, you've to go to at least one live show man, the atmosphere is awesome and the sound of the pyro and the sound of the mat is incredible.
Yea I was surprised to hear u never been to a live wrestling event...I'm a die hard sports fan and only been to a few games myself.....But I did meet HBK in person when he was wit Sherri[RIP] and I was in same room wit Hogan but never spoke to him though...was about few feet from him
love that song.Ive never cared to see a live wrestling event myself like yuou Im satisfied watching it on TV ... I do get DVD's though enjoy the knowledge about peoples lives I may never meet them Im ok with that. But ill say it I can be a cheep person.
I went to No Way Out in '09 and when HHH got his foot on the rope after Undertaker Tombstoned him it really seemed like he didn't kick out and almost everyone in the crowd thought he was pinned.
I did go to a few wrestling events and it's nothing like seeing it on tv. I think seeing it on tv is better because like you said, the camera angles and so forth. This is why I do not attend wrestling events.
Watching on TV is good, but it simply isnt close to the live experience, in anything, WWE, NBA, Football, Boxing etc. Although I wouldnt like to attend live too often, as it would take the novelty out of it and get less enjoyable.
i have only ever been to one wwe raw event back in 2007. thank god i didnt regret it as hbk & cena went to 45 mins in the main event with hbk winning XD. i have been to a few small independent wrestling events at my old wrestling schools but they dont count lol
I went to a wrestling event that wasnt wwe or tna.. I went to the clash at the cove in south bend! Very good show and everyone enjoyed it. I met hacksaw and cowboy bob orton and sunny was late to the event :p and I got dick the bruisers autograph..I recommend it! Awesome performances!
I only attended 1 live wrestling event, WWF backlash back in the late 90's. It was a good experience for me and I enjoyed it, but I also enjoy watching wrestling on TV as well in the comfort in my own home, kicking back snacking on a bowl of popcorn, drinking a soda, or a beer sometimes, plus you can see the action close. I was so far back in the stands watching live, I needed binoculars too see some action. Nice vid, TLC called men scrubs but I still loved this song regardless. Classic!
I could see Spinnernet getting to the show and just starting all kinds of "show your t**'s" and "you f***ed up chants". Being one loud crazy shy bastard.
I been to a few independents, a few smackdowns, and the royal rumble I think it was 08. Or idk, it was here in san antonio and taker won the rumble, 200 dollars for two nosebleed seats, and the next night on raw donald trump drops money on the crowd, I was pissed.
I must say I'm shocked. I understand though not really having a desire, but I if you were to go a wrestling event when it was actually really good, you would have really enjoyed yourself. It's nothing like actually being there, the atmosphere is great. Everything on tv is shown on the titantron now days of course, but of course you wouldn't watch that the whole time if your at the event. But anyways I get your point & its completely understandable.
you never been to a live wrestling event? not even a ECW event? hell not even a indie fed? you couldnt get 10-15 bucks to attend a indie fed even once? and you grew up in the NYC area???? never met a any wrestler in your life???? I been to indie feds in my life which had around 100 people and never felt packed..... get out the house and go to one. meet people!
Why the hell would you pay 20 or 30 dollars to watch a wrestling show live when you have TV or internet for that? It's cheap and WWE also gets MUCH MORE money from TV ratings than from ticket selling...
I've gone to every Raw/SD show that they've had in Orlando the past 3 years and I always enjoy myself. I feel that it's one of those things a wrestling fan should go to once in life, just for the experience.
I used to be just like that, until around 2005-2006, when I finally went to my first live event. And now I'm like seriously additcted to the live event experience. I mean sure watching the event from home is great, but you haven't experienced wrestling until you've been to an event live. Trust me, it's an experience like no other. If you ever get back into wrestling, I'd recommend just going to a live event & experiencing it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.
Being there live can kind of make a not so great show seem alot better than it actually is. I've met a few wrestlers over the years, and that's pretty hit or miss depending on who it is, some are cool others are pricks. But I can understand your point. Things like cage matches are not really fun to watch live imo because you have that cage obstructing some of your view the entire time. You can't hear commentary, and there's usually somebody that's overly obnoxious around you.
Scrubs..lmao..Gold diggers...As for the live events....Homie i have been to Many Raws from Mondays.Friday night Smackdowns.I saw a few PPV.With the Ultimate.Wrestlemania in Orlando a few years ago.Awesome experiences. The events i dont see are house shows. To me there poorly done and not alot of effort. Not to mention the angles rarely are involved.Just throw stuff together.I have met Freebirds,Teddy long,Jake Roberts.Terry Taylor. The Rock.I worked out with Carlito.I love it.Memories
As a kid I never really wanted to go to wrestling shows (except for the original ECW which i never saw live). I just started going to shows and even then I've only been to ROH shows and the first TNA houseshow in NYC. I don't really want to go to a WWE live event or a Raw or Smackdown because I fear that I'll end up paying for a lot of comedy skits and bad hosts and whatnot. Live events in general I'm just now starting to warm up to. Jay-Z and Kanye West was my first concert at MSG
You're not alone, spinner. I'm also one of those guys who prefers being home over going out and doing stuff. I go to school, then work, and then I'm home lol.
i went to wwf insurrextion 2001. also went to some live small shows in my area when i was growing up. met bushwhackers, hawk (rip), yokozuna (rip), virgil and greg valentine.
In a way it makes sense. Cheering at a Wrestling event is kind of backwards logic wise, since the outcomes are predetermined, so what does it matter who you cheer for? The match ending is already decided :D
I see your logic but silent fans are NOT good for any wrestling promotion. You can't expect 60, 000+ people to gather somewhere and NOT make any noise.

its amazing feeling connected to people and moments that noone else is my brother actually got bled on by hogan and flair at tna lol go!
I went to an event where I got a bit carried away with chants, I think I might have made a bit of a twat out of myself. Oh well, I had fun and that's all that matters! Woo!
I have attended a decent amount of shows but I consider it worth of my time and some are just okay. The pros of you staying at home is that you save money. live wrestling events are cool. They are pretty expensive especially if you have to get hotel and all that. The best thing is the atmospher. I went to WrestleMania 23 and the feeling the stadium and the atmosphere was just awesome. I see all your points though
u say you never had a desire to see a live wrestling event but your favorite wrestling promotion of all time is ECW?? wtf, ECW was all about the live experience (bring your own weapon night, epic chants, crowd surfing, etc). granted i dont know if the original ecw visited where you live but you see very much an introvert. good thing i live in philly.
I've been to 2 live events, and I actually met the Rock backstage at the second live event. Real cook guy. I also met Al Snow, D-Lo Brown, and the Road Dogg. Oh and Chris Jericho who was really cool and down to earth. The live events were fun though.
I love seeing it live. I've been to a few Raws and Smackdowns, 1 house show and 3 PPVs (Survivor Series 2003, Wrestlemania 25, and Hell in a Cell 2010) Probably the most awkward feeling show I went to was the Raw the week after the Chris Benoit incident. They were checking everyone's signs as we entered the arena and confiscating anything mentioning Benoit and a lot of people were still distraught over the whole Benoit thing. It must've been tough for the wrestlers to keep performing after that.
been to any concerts spin? as much as you dig music, especially the 90s, surely you caught a good concert or two. unlike football and wrestling in person. music in person, is far more enjoyable.
Ive been to 2 smackdown tapings (2001-ish the night stond cold threw kurt angles medals in the detroit river, and 2004 the week after orlando jordan aligned with JBL and the smackdown before summerslam that year) and Wrestlemania 23. I think after watching live, i had different view of wrestling, and saw that the ring is smaller than we think it is on tv. lol
Nothing wrong with being a wrestling fan and not wanting to go to live events. I did went to a couple WWE shows and one TNA show, that's it. To be honest the actions looks more choreographic live than watching on tv.
It's actually better to go to a indy wrestling event and sit front row. The 1st Raw live show I went to was fun. But, I agree it's better to sit and home (best seat in the house) and get as close as you can get via TV
that's really interesting. I was the complete opposite. In 2002 (I was ten years old). My parents finally started to let me watch wrestling. I never saw PPV's, parents wouldn't order it even if I worked to pay for it. Mother thought it was inappropriate. I remember Summerslam and Survivor Series came to my hometown in the same year and as much as I begged they wouldn't take me. The first show I went to was in December of 2006, my father finally gave in and took me with little interest.
I've been to a SmackDown House Show back in November 2005 where I saw Eddie Guerrero live in a World Title Match with Batista before he died, I've been to RAW and SmackDown taping back in April 2006 and later that year in October went to a SmackDown and ECW taping and then I went to Elimination Chamber 2010.
WOW, you and I are the complete opposite. Every time a WWE event is close to my house (Either MSG or Nassau Coliseum) I have the desire to go. Just recently I went to Survivor Series 2011. You don't know what your missing Spin. The best part is when you start a chant and soon after thousands of people are chanting the same thing you are.
Count me as shocked. You love wrestling so much that it's surprising you've never been to a show... I mean, that's what it is at heart. I understand your reasons, but man you owe it to yourself to go. It really IS a different experience! What if you went to a small indie show?
tlc was great r&b girl group lisa left eye (rip) my first wrestling event was when i was 10 years old in 1993 when my dad took me in 1993 to richfield colisem in richfeild, ohio i saw jerry lawler vs bret hart in steel cage match. stenier bros vs quebecers wwf tag team titles ludvig borga vs lex luger marty janetty vs shawn micheals.
I went to a live show back in 2004 and it was great. Saw Angle vs Undertaker, Guerrero and Benoit before they died, got some vulgar chants going it was awesome.
I went to a smackdown house show once in 2007 and got to see the Undertaker, Kane, Batista, Edge, etc. I was in the front row too, it was great. Although, speaking of live events there was a smackdown house show over here a few weeks ago and I decided not to go, it's just not worth the money to see the smackdown roster these days.
I actually went to the arena for Survivor Series 2003,WWE Raw in 2007, WWE Smackdown in 2006, and a couple of house shows. Those were some good times and great experiences
i go to local basketball and hockey games. The place holds around few houndred to maybe a thousand people. I've been to 1 wrestling show in my life, and i seen Bret Hart and Chyna from far away before.
Its fun to go to wreslting or any other sport for that matter live. Its fun to interact with the fan base. Lets face at its fun to chant "CENA SUCK!!" when cena comes out and have all these kids right beside you. best moment ever!!
I feel your standpoint and I'm sort of like that. I mean I've met some wrestlers but the only live events I go to arent ever pro wrestling. Just local promotions. The only sport I like to witness in person is baseball. But that's another story.
I made a video about this a few months back. I'll post it as a response. I've been to several live wrestling events but I feel a lot like you. I'd rather sit back and relax on my on sofa and watch wrestling. good video, sir!
I'm in the same boat as you. Though I wanted to meet the Undertaker as a kid. I don't know or care about wrestlers' personal lives or real names. Other than knowing Taker, Rock, Kane, Cena, Orton, HHH, Beth Phoenix, Kelly Kelly, Lita, and X-Pac real names, I don't know anyone's real name. I didn't know Undertaker had a divorce with his wife (Sara) until I heard him and McCool were together. However, if I watch shoots of wrestlers; I rather hear the person, not the character talking.
Interesting perspective. I've never heard anybody with this point of view before and it's funny because I've just done a video today about getting tickets to go see TNA here in the UK
Im 22 I have only been to 3 live shows since I started watching the WWE in 2000. I went to Raw on Feb 5, 2001, I went to Royal Rumble 2010 & Wrestlemania 27.
spinner the crowd makes it ten times better live some of the reactions we come up with his hilarous i think us a wrestling fans are kinda like a family lmao!
i actually feel the exact same way... i fell that way with most sports too tbh.. i like watching baseball and basketball and football better on TV too
Spinner, my new England patriots are going to beat them Baltimore ravens this weekend and go to the Superbowl.... go PATRIOTS. And hopefully 49ers go as well
I remember when I watch wrestling live back around a year or 2 around the NXT season 2 my dad and me were heading back and stopped to get some gas and right when we were about to leave I told him stop and went back in the store to go meet Low Ki,Eli Cottonwood,Alberto del rio before he debuted and Jamie Keyes, It was pretty cool and all nice people to bad my camera died I only got autographs...
You're not missing much these days. 10-15 years ago, you'd get to see more than 10 matches per show, some of which were dark matches that didn't get shown on TV. Now, you're lucky if you get to see 10 matches a show. Of all the wrestling shows I've been to, there's always been at least 10 matches, dark match or televised. Now, I don't want to go to a wrestling show because if there's less than 10 matches, I'd feel ripped off.
Live events are extremely fun from time to time. It's more comfortable at home, but it's more exciting live. You should go to at least one. Even if the seats are mediocre.
I've been to pretty much every PPV event, alot of television events and some house shows held in Montreal and Toronto from 91 upward. My two favorite experiences was my first ever show which had Ultimate Warrior vs Undertaker in a bodybag match as the main event in 1991, and Wrestlemania 18 which was the only Wrestlemania I ever attended. There were alot of stinkers though, even Survivor Series 1997 was a huge letdown to me as it was a horrible show top to bottom live.
I'm shy and I'm 23, you've to go to at least one live show man, the atmosphere is awesome and the sound of the pyro and the sound of the mat is incredible.

live wrestling events are cool. They are pretty expensive especially if you have to get hotel and all that. The best thing is the atmospher. I went to WrestleMania 23 and the feeling the stadium and the atmosphere was just awesome. I see all your points though
herd4344 1 month ago
u say you never had a desire to see a live wrestling event but your favorite wrestling promotion of all time is ECW?? wtf, ECW was all about the live experience (bring your own weapon night, epic chants, crowd surfing, etc). granted i dont know if the original ecw visited where you live but you see very much an introvert. good thing i live in philly.

I've been to a couple of PPV's
- WrestleMania 23
- UK Rampage 93
Also a few Houseshows, one of which was on Video "Mahem In Manchester"
They were fun

I went to a smackdown house show once in 2007 and got to see the Undertaker, Kane, Batista, Edge, etc. I was in the front row too, it was great. Although, speaking of live events there was a smackdown house show over here a few weeks ago and I decided not to go, it's just not worth the money to see the smackdown roster these days.
