Smith recruited. Petrino had a group of kids that he let run riot over him. He will fall flat on his face at Arkansas and be out of major coaching for good in less than 3 years.
I've been to nearly ALL the states and Arkansas is actually one of the most beautiful states in the U.S. In addition, the Razorbacks are a monopoly here. They don't compete with ANY other team in the state. A smart coach sees that as a real opportunity.

I do agree that his departure was entirely unprofessional. As he never had a "...change of heart...", it begs the question when did he decide in his gut that he was getting out and how did it impact his coaching of the Falcons. I'm not very emotionally attached to the Falcons or any of this and don't feel betrayed at all. I doubt Falcon fans are as emotional about his departure as Louisville fans were or Arkansas fans are.
his mind was probably made up when Michael Vick made a plea deal and that probably did affect the way he coached. He did not come to coach the Falcons, he came to coach Michael Vick.

He is moving to a team that will likely loose 3 running backs to the NFL, and lost three very talented players because of issues with the previous coach.
