  • The Lennonesque tip of the hat is unmistakable...Canadien magic...

  • Thanks for the great songs, Pag. It was always a pleasure to play them as they charted at the GO/14 in Ottawa.

  • My sweetheart who just passed away never got to hear this tune from my life in Montreal in the '70s. He would have loved it ... and he would have danced with me. Some sing, some dance ... LOL Thank you Michel, I am eternally a fan.

  • Classic Canadian rock, timeless...

  • très très bon chanteur , grand talent , j'aime beaucoup .

  • Écoutez bien mes amis le meilleur musicien Québecois jamais! Sont si fiers du Pag! Vive le Quebec!

  • Musically speaking this stuff is beautifully produced. I would go so far as to say it is the Phil Spector wall of sound kind of thing going on. Really nice actually.

  • was this guy a one hit wonder? I remember this song. but I cannot remember if he had any other hits.

  • @Tiger1968ify "Some Sing, Some Dance".."Rain Showers" .. "What the hell I got"...are the ones that come to mind

  • Perfect example of a great talent taking the wrong direction and sticking to his francophone roots.

Celine Dion was headed in the same direction until someone slapped her or her management in the head and urged her onto the anglo stage. She hasn't looked back since.Lokk at her now,,,,Ohhh those crazy Quebecers(Quebecquoise),,,so mislead.....

  • one of the most under rated musicians in Canada!!!!!!!!!

  • Love the music of Pagliaro! He has been so underrated - brings me back to CKLW in Windsor, Ontario in the 70's....what fabulous times!!

  • I would like to know who are the 4 dislikes - probably Maple Leaf Fans.

    Grazie mille

    Chris

    Thomas D'arcy McGee High School

  • Great song Pag; Badfinger should have recorded it and maybe you would be getting the credit you deserve

  • Best song McCartney never did and surely would've had another huge hit with.

  • you are quite right - it was and is a terrific song - can't believe its 40 years old - thanks for posting it.

  • well my name is supertam1231 and i tipped it for a number one when it first came out. in 1971 it struggled in the top 30 then, so british public then missed a great song with fantastic beat.

  • Isn't it "just keep riding your WAVE"? (rather than "way") - Always sounded like that to me, maybe I've had it wrong all these years, LOL!

  • High school!!! If i only knew then that was the best years of my life - young and no responsibilities!

  • i thought this was from the 1980s. heard this on live365.

  • Thanks so much for posting this.

I loved this song in my teens and I tingles even now listening too it. What a great musical talent ....

  • This was one of the first videos I posted when I joined you tube. I always thought this song was one of the best pop songs ever and I was the only one that bought this vinyl way back in 1971. When I got a turntable that I could record this great song direct to my computer, that was it - this is going on you tube, and I am amazed at all the Pag fans out there.

Thank you Pagliaro for your great music.

  • @iGaucho

Perhaps the greatest pop song ever...my thought exactly. You can't buy it on iTunes!

  • PAG forever !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think this is one of the first 45s I ever bought.

    And I still love it.

Thanks for sharing it with us!

  • I have an inside track that he recorded most of his hits @ Apple Studios. That would explain the similarities between him and Badfinger and early Macca.

  • I have an inside track, that he recorded this track and others @ Apple Studios. That would explain the similarities with Badfinger and early Macca.

  • Pure pop at its best! Genius. I loved this song when it was released and played over the airwaves as much as I love this song today. I'm old, Pag is gold!

  • If you like Canadian obscure oldies, go do the audio quiz under Caramba's games at Sporcle. com . Lots of forgotten songs and artists. None of the big boys are there, but you just may hear something by Michel P (not this one). See ya there! Oh, and awesome song!

  • Thanks so much. I still have the single too

  • @Caz225 oh yes, me too! i learnt to play this on my brothers' guitar when it first hit the stores. so young then.....lol! I'm a granny now!!

  • I bought this back in 71, it literally went into the lower reaches of the uk top 40 at around no: 39 or so for about 1 week and then disappeared, I thought I was the only one who bought it, great song and I,ve still got the original 7" vinyl single

  • Reminds me of the Stampeders, way back when.

  • I am amazed that this was not a #1 song here in the USA. It should have been...for months!

  • Long lost Gem!

  • Pagliaro is an unheralded popgod...Lovin' You Ain't Easy could easily be Badfinger on a good day...What the Hell I Got also a great tune...

  • Ohhh take me back. Been listening to Lighthouse, Crowbar, now Pagliaro and Foot in Cold Water........ lotsa fun :)

  • Boy I love this song. I love driving on summer day and haveing this great tune come on the radio. The best!

  • Thank you all and Pagliaro - we are almost at the 65k mark.

    What a great song!

  • Man this takes me back to 1971 and 9 years old riding my old CCM Mustang.

The soundtrack too my life, love PAGLIARO !

  • Yabba dabba do....something you younsters will soon forget!

  • Une bonne chanson de Pag!!!

  • Got the Pagliaro 2-CD set 13 years ago;called 'Hit Parade'. A special order and took ~ 3 months to get ; fairly expensive at the time ($30). Worth the money. A few english songs, mostly french. He can rock it! This song was popular locally (the old Big 8, CKLW) when I was a High School Senior (71-72). Thank God I lived within broadcast distance of Canada or I'd never heard his music. Other parts of US really missed out!

  • yeah, you cant find his damn cd in any cd outlet... i ordered one in october and it still hasnt arrived... for how good he is, im surprised more people havent heard of him.... he is killin it though, hes so good

  • A truly great pop song, just one of many great Canadian records that have languished in obscurity because of music politics and greedy guts marketing pressures. Oh well, just more buried treasures to enjoy for those who truly care!

  • Lovin' YOU wasn't easy

  • my dad told me about this song and how people in montreal sell millions of albums yet nobody has ever heard of em. he was right

  • Maybe if you got your head out of your ass, you'd realize he's not a one hit wonder, just recorded very little in english. He had a string of hits in french, his native language...

  • I have tried to hunt this down for years. This song, along with Ringo's Photograph were out at the same time. Soundtrack to my adolescence!

  • Just an awesome song. Thanks for posting this. 5 stars!

  • Didn't he sing at a grey cup halftime show

  • Best driving song EVER!!!!

  • pye records,,was switched to amber records in 1972,the biggest artist was the stampeders on it but as they got bigger they moved to RCA.

  • Ah I love this. I've got that blue 45. Bought it when I was 10. Thank you igaucho for posting.

  • never heard it befor.

  • Great song! Great artist! Song was played October 1, 2009 on 580AM, CKWW, Windsor,Ontario.

  • who cares it was played here yesterday

  • It makes me proud to be Canadian when I here the likes of Pagliaro...a true Canadian icon

  • Almost forgot this song existed, thanks for reminding me.

  • One of the top songs of it's time, well done Michel....

  • retro juenesse? peut-etre...great tune

    thanks michel

  • Pag 4 ever 5*****

  • An absolutely amazing tune. I remeber it as a kid. Alway loved it!! Great driving song!!! It even got cowbell!!!! Do you think this guy was influnced by the Beatles by any chance? Sounds like Abbey Road backing vocals and guitar fills.

  • Great tune!! Nice to hear it again!!

  • Thanks for the share Christine

    Claude

  • good tune......love the 70s

  • I love the tune but can't buy it online or in stores - must be nice to be so rich that you don't have to bother selling your music!

  • govern0r: Pag released a double CD in 2001 called Hit Parade that includes this song. Just checked and it's available online from HMV Canada. HTH

  • Truly one of the greatest pop songs to ever come out of Canada. Pag rules!

  • timeless. this takes me back

  • Another seriously underated song, from an era of great songs.

  • Timeless. His early 70s English hits have the most melodious hooks I've ever heard. When this song would come on the radio, I'd crank up the volume and wish it would never end. Thank you for sharing iGaucho!

  • I thought i was the only person who could remember this. Remember seeing him on top of the pops and rushed out to buy the single

  • "Top of the Pops" - as in England?!

  • Yes TOP OF THE POPS in England. Used to watch it every thursday night then it was changed to friday. That was in the good old days of music. Showing my age now.

  • I'm startled. I had no idea the man had any exposure in the UK. I wonder if his French songs got played in France as well.

  • Wouldn't it be great if the BBC could dig it out of the archives and show us again?

  • If the tapes survived that is. The Beeb was notorious for wiping tapes back in the 60s, but I dunno if they were still doing that in the 70s. Hopefully not!

  • Would be good to contact a BBC DJ and ask if they could find out ( eg Steve Wright ) He did top of the pops 2 didn't he?

  • I played this song on the radio a zillion times.

Being a deejay in the Seventies, we got to play some great music. This rivals pop music done by Lennon-McCartney or Abba. Name it. Great.

  • like ive said before Pagliaro songs where played in quebec and did go to number two on the solid gold show, but pag did have two strikes one he was from canada and the worst for the industry he was from quebec , but did have a couple of number one in french

  • Would've sounded especially great alongside Badfinger and early solo McCartney.

  • @fabrikk60 I never thought of that.

Good point! I'll have to check out the condition of my 45.
