My problem with Christianity is that few follow its directives. You know, those ten things called COMMANDMENTS? They're not sugestions, by the way. So how do you reconcile training and paying men and women to be soldiers who often must be called upon to kill people?
Also, God is Just. A sin can only be committed if you know it is wrong and you do it anyway, if say a Buddhist is the best he can be in his religion when he dies he isn't going to go to hell just for having a different religion. Sure it's not the right religion but they did the best thing the best way they knew how. Like if someone was taught a religion a poor way or has all these bad preconceptions of it they arn't going to go to hell for not being taught better. The fault falls on the teacher.
I think you're looking at the sterotypical, gung-ho, bible-thumping aspect of religion. Alot of people can claim that they are religious but their actions all prove against it and then people believe that religion is wrong, not the different individuals all going through different things in their lives.
I encourage you to look into religion from a different point of view then on the defensive. I'm a Catholic by choice, so I'd encourage that religion.

The problem you face is that you're trying to justify living your life by your own standards of good and bad, rather than God's. The reason God would care is because that's the purpose of our creation.

God weighs sins so heavy that even hating someone is murder, or lusting over someone is adultery. So I don't think it is about controlling people, because these sins are fallacies of the heart that do not affect any else. Rather, they are fallacies in which we must have the self discipline to overcome because these things ruin ourselves individually. God knows what makes us fall, that's why he gave us tools. I think the basic flaw in the argument (which admittedly could be because the distinction between what 'god' the questioner is referring to - but i assume it is the Judeo-Christian God) is that if the Judeo-Christian God is the one you are answering to, your hope that He is something else that was not revealed to makind pretty much goes against the understanding of who God actually is.

A sin can only be committed if you know it is wrong and you do it anyway, if say a Buddhist is the best he can be in his religion when he dies he isn't going to go to hell just for having a different religion. Sure it's not the right religion but they did the best thing the best way they knew how. Like if someone was taught a religion a poor way or has all these bad preconceptions of it they arn't going to go to hell for not being taught better. The fault falls on the teacher.

Alot of people can claim that they are religious but their actions all prove against it and then people believe that religion is wrong, not the different individuals all going through different things in their lives.
I encourage you to look into religion from a different point of view then on the defensive. I'm a Catholic by choice, so I'd encourage that religion.

The problem you face is that you're trying to justify living your life by your own standards of good and bad, rather than God's. The reason God would care is because that's the purpose of our creation.
I accept that many religions can't back themselves up with evidence and rely on "faith", but Islam can be proven! I've never yet failed to convince anyone (incl. aetheists) after speaking to them for a short period of time.
The question truely is, will you follow your own desires, or God's?

We are not all God, you doofus! Anyway, You are confusing salvation by grace with salvation through works. You're not going to be judged on your works. You can't do enough works to pay for your sins against a holy God. That's the whole point of Jesus, He was without one sin, so He could take the punishment for your sins on your behalf. God is a holy judge, and as such, has to judge you according to His laws. Lk13:26-27 speaks of people who wanted to enter heaven by their works. I hpe you cansee

Why do call the universe "god", why not just call it "the universe"? Carl Sagan was much more than so-so, he was a brilliant thinker who contributed greatly to the scientific field of cosmology. The carl sagan comment i had made in my previous comment was just to show you why your "einstein believed in god, therefore you should too" argument failed.

that is presicely what the universe is, ONE, almighty, GOD, you can choose to call it the universe, most do, as a matter of fact, all do. except for me, i call the universe god. because it is uni (one) verse (his word)....deep down inside, i do not have proof of a god. it is true, you are right, i do not have proof, but i beleive in god te way i do because from the beginning we looked into the sky, i assume just naturally looking for god, and we see god everyday...

atom theory (which isnt directly related to the origin of the universe, if there even is an origin), and the Big Bang theory are both supported by physical evidence. God is not, thus it is irrational to believe in god.

First of all, I didn't say that atom theory and Big Bang theory were supported by scientists (although it is true that they are), I said they are supported by physical evidence, which, to my knowledge, god is not. Second of all, your argument has many flaws in it, for one I'm not a girl (although I'm curious as to how you came to that conclusion, not that I'm offended by it). Also Einstein did not believe in a personal god, such as the judea-christian god, or allah.

The gender thing is fine, i mean there really was no way for you to have known. I never denied the possibility of god, I agree with you that to completely deny just the POSSIBILITY of god is foolish. I just made the statement that it is irrational to believe in something there is no evidence for, and that I place god in that category. I don't believe in god for the same reason i don't believe that there are invisible, incorporeal unicorns everywhere, because neither are supported by evidence.

i dont get it, are you an atheist that believes in spirits or spirituality. hmm... you need to start reading some science books, because the evidence that supports the probability of a God existing is more than overwhelming. look into how matter changed into organic material, the laws of physics ex. weak and strong force electromagnetism and gravity and the specific numbers needed to hold the universe together, look into reproduction systems and then the human brain. could not be by chance.

God weighs sins so heavy that even hating someone is murder, or lusting over someone is adultery. So I don't think it is about controlling people, because these sins are fallacies of the heart that do not affect any else. Rather, they are fallacies in which we must have the self discipline to overcome because these things ruin ourselves individually. God knows what makes us fall, that's why he gave us tools. It is better to follow the wisdom of a higher being than the wisdom of man.
