@kuulyn it was the infestor until this model was replaced by the current model. they simply re-labled the old model as the Swarm Host, look it up on starcraft wiki.
the reason it was removed is because you cant infest the Protoss (the khala provides immunity to infestation somehow) and you cant infest other Zerg because they're already infested. though apparently before cancelation they switched the infested terrans with broodlings.
WTF IS THAT? infesting buildings? if and when they do that, I hope that its not just terrans they can do that too. and omg imagine this, if you could choose an upgrade for infestor. infested zealots, marines, or, well idk if there should be zerg
@patatepowa no its not because there wont be counters anymore and only 1 unit would be used or there would be counters but then it would just be who can cast spells first or get the first hit off
As much as this would have made epic scenario for single player or UMS, I seriously am glad that it was removed. Sure, infest command center was just a humiliation move, since you had to have building that is probably the most heavily guarded in red before doing so. Allowing this ability to happen while burrowed is horrible. Although I would like to see this is UMS settings lol.
@kolbot I suspect they replaced this ability with the ability to poop out an infected marine. Would seem unusual to give a unit a special ability that would only work on a single building of a single race.
@sadicious Infestors have much better uses than simply snaring and annoying. MCing Protoss Colossi for example can easily break open a battle. Moving into enemy mineral fields and spawning infested terran armies on top of them is also extremely effective. It's a micro intensive unit but played right it can be one of the strongest zerg units.
@Kingofredeyes A couple of fungal growths can turn the tide, followed up with NP from high ground (where the enemy has no visibility) to take their massive units to take care of the units that will survive the fungal growth and then each other.
I just love turning a thor and battlecruiser against each other.
Yeah as a zerg player it would've been great to have an ability to instant turn an building around and get lots of cheaps unit utterly destroying your enemy without him having any chance!
@DarkTemplar40k only thing is since all terran wall off vs zerg it wold be very difficult too pull it off, im glad they changed it, though it is really cool lol
@DarkTemplar40k just in case you didn't notice, it took the infestors like 15 seconds to change the buildings... if there was actually a terran player, they would have killed the infestors before the buildings changed
@iiVeGaNoXii You more then doubled the time it took them, from the point where the first infector started infecting the building untill the building turned it took them about 7-8 Seconds. And 7-8 Seconds in a real match are nothing. First you get the message, then you've got to go there and notice what's happenening. Then you need your units to move there and actually start attacking the infestors.
@RicercarUPSB Yeah because having the majority of your army inside your base to counter this would be a great way to win. It was absolutely overpowered and got removed because of that.
@RicercarUPSB Yeah, because terrans do have static defense. Oh wait, you have to load their bunkers with units to make them actually work unlike toss and zerg defense. Honestly, people like you are actually the proof how inbalanced this would've been.
@DarkTemplar40k And is that really so hard? And plus, the terran player had plenty of marines, he could have killed off the infestors before they had time to get off their spell.
@RicercarUPSB Because having lots of marines in bunkers totaly doesn't use up your supply while the enemy can use it at will? You're not making any sense anymore. At first you talked about static defense, now having most of your army guarding your base just because of one unit. Also this video is just an example of the unit, actually using it ingame would've been far more devastating in a lot of situations.
@WinnysChannel you can't scout a 6-pool or you're economy will be devestated. you just have to be able to expect and defend it with what you have. if you win, its gg. if you dont, then try harder.
@DarkTemplar40k It took an estimated 9 seconds from unburrow (units with no attack revealed themselves and casted a channeled ability) to the point where the building was infested. If you don't deal with the infestors until that you must suck at terran horribly.
I don't say that it wouldn't be powerful, but we are looking at a demostration, a video made...by infestors, for infestors! :D
No, I mean, in a real game this would pretty much be like DTs as far as the chance of dealing damage goes.
@Savci008 It's about 8 seconds, a player with several of these and good reflexes could turn around large parts of the enemy base within a few seconds. This would force the defending player to keep more then a few units of his army in his base just for the defense. Also he would need to take out all of them, even if he responded right away considering the time that would take he could've taken out about 2 of them.
@DarkTemplar40k I wouldn't say that. Sure, you get an alert when attacked by DTs, but they stay invisible. These, they are visible. Yes, it is powerful, I only wanted to point out that it takes as much stupidity to not counter this as it takes to not deal with DTs under normal circumstances.
@Savci008 Are DTs able to turn entire buildings around in a matter of seconds? No. Do the buildings destroyed by DTs produce more units? No.
Just looking at the stats should clearly show how they're different. Considering that the barracks do have 1000 Hp before armor. And they turn them around in 6-8 seconds. That would give those units about 142,8 dps per second. And then those buildings aren't gone, no they start producing units for your enemy.
Do Dts deal damage insantly when they strike a building? Yes.
We're not comparing DPS here. That way you could say that the nuke is powerful, as it can be technically considered a cloaked unit dealing 500 damage to buildings and killing off most units in its area, yet it is not overpowered because it's a great hassle to launch.
Also don't forget how easy they are to kill when channeling and they are not invisible.
@StelarCF it wasnt because it was overpowered. it was because it only works on terran since the protoss cant be infested due to the immunity provided by the khala, and you cant exactly infest other zerg structures for somewhat obvious reasons.
So they simply replaced the ability with something stupid and unrealistic but universal in who you can use it on.
@ImperatorZed Even then, the building would still be instantly lost due to it being converted. This ability could easily cripple an army for a while if used correctly and, while not openly destroying the enemy/their economy/their forces, could definately open them up for a full-scale assault with much less opposition.
@ImperatorZed No, if the building was infested, then they would keep making infested terrans. This would mean that the infested player would need to eliminate the buildings that are infested to stop the infested from spawning. This, in turn, would mean that they cannot make as many units for a short while and would leave them open for assault while they try to recover.
@Azeduori We had to deal with Terran's imbalances for the longest time. They finally just got nerfed to where it's competitive instead of a massacre. Before the nerf, almost every zerg player complained about Terran, even "pro" players that are known throughout the world. I, for one, wouldn't even bother playing vs terran in custom practice matches. I would just leave. ZvP and ZvZ was competitive and fun. ZvT was just a massive, pitiful slaughter.
0:28 i love that the other guy doesnt reac, how his barracks are beeing vomited with a weird sludge, that grows em tenatles: aring: oh our barracks seem weird today! (infested rin comes out) oh hi bob!
