  • Really Amazing!!! Cool things without stupid computers! I hate the new CGI movies!!

  • Maybe we should find out who put the DVD together. In order to have this song in the main menu, he must have the access to the unedited audio file

  • why isn't this version on the neverending story soundtrack composed by klaus whatever his last name is? the ivory tower theme on my soundtrack seems all techno and totally not this theme! i love this theme better!!!

  • Everytime I reconnect with anything that has to do with The Never Ending Story I feel so happy. And I get more and more convinced that all those Final Fantasy games are based on this. Thank you for a beautiful childhood, Michael Ende.

  • I reeeeeally prefer this version.... so magical!

  • Wasn't Klaus Doldinger who composed this?

  • Moroder rulez

  • THANK YOU,thank you and thank you for uploading!!!It gives me chills every time I hear it,such a beautiful music, and a movie which is deep my heart and forever will be there!!

  • There's a game called klonoa: Door to Phantomile and the theme called "Cress" sounds a lot like this

  • So bad ass! The reboot that's suppose to come out in 2014 better have this music in it or something more epic, which I don't believe is possible.

  • the never ending story,LEGEND, Labyrinth and the dark crystal...man they don't make them like that anymore!

  • @KeithWasHere1 Those are my favorite fantasy movies :) as much as I love The Lord of the Rings, it's just impossible to beat the 80's.

  • When i get married, im gonna have this playin as i walk down the aisle.

    :)

i love this piece of music,

  • I used to cry a lot when I was a child whit this music. Thank you for sharing it!

  • hmmm...sorry, not my kind of music, the doldinger-version is way better in my opinion, matches the story much more than this synthesizer-stuff

  • @koppsr I thought this was Doldinger's version :/ I'm confused now, which version was composed by Doldinger and which version was composed by Moroder?

  • this is NOT doldinger.

    try this:

The Ivory Tower - original score by Doldinger

can t post the link, youtube as always :P

maybe you ll share my opinion that it fits the movie MUCH better than moroders version :)

  • gives me goosebumps every. single. time.

  • gooooosebumps

  • wonderful theme, it has make an impression on my childhood

  • Hell yes. I swear, if I ever get married, this just might end up being my wedding march, lol

  • This is the song i want to hear when I enter heaven

  • @destroyer8604 that would be bitchin

  • Ivory tower? How many elephants did they have to kill to make that monstrosity!

  • @Knightmessenger Does it (did it) surprise you? Don't they remake everything these days? I just hope Burton keeps his hands off it..

  • @Eragarev Ohh, yeah. Burton + Remake of the Neverending Story = bad remake.

  • So I finally added a link in the description. Didn't realize television tunes had posted my submission until yesterday.

  • I knew this was Giorgio's handiwork.

It always reminded me of Scarface. Now I know why.

  • @Knightmessenger Use This VIDEO2MP3

  • Terrific!

  • Nice montage. That moment towards the end of the movie is so beautiful I want to cry. There is still hope. There is still a core, still a place of beauty that stands strong, pure and true. The phrase "ivory tower" is so often said in ridicule. :(

  • so beautiful!!

  • @Knightmessenger Can you send me the audio file?? I LOVE THIS SONG! The version on the soundtrack is poop. lol

  • I love this theme and thanks for posting it.

  • There are no words to describe how wonderful this music is.

  • I love this music, is beautifull!!!!

  • If Fantasia had a national anthem, this would be it. Majestic, confident, tender, dreamlike.

  • I was searching for this so much, and it's not on the original OST. How on earth can that be possible?! Shame... But now I have your version, and I can watch it as much as I wish to cry over it. Hurray...!

  • @700gsteak -It happens at about 20 minutes into the movie. And, it's a bat :)

  • I dodnt remember the man flying the koala bear into the ivory tower

  • @Knightmessenger listentoyoutube (dot) com allows you to extrac the media also.

  • I extracted to audio and for some readon youtube won*t allow me to post the urls for users to do it themselves! Oh well, message me for details...

  • Base jumping off that thing must be better than sex.

  • Holy shit.check out the top of the screen at 0.23.No wonder the riddler aint in the new batman movie. He's gonna be in the remake of Neverending story LOL.

  • Thank you SO much for this!!! I have always lamented the lack of the US version of Ivory Tower, with only the dialog-laden audio to hear it... So thank you for your doing the work of this video :3

  • @Knightmessenger Sorry for waiting so long to respond Heard it from a friend of mine then looked it up on Wiki but that's not too reliable. Says having trouble finding Director,Writer and Cast so may not go through

  • magnificient

  • god, that's beautiful!

  • this would be the best ever ringtone for my cell. just have no idea how to get it :-(

  • god... imagine the price for the elevator on that tower... i mean whats the point on build a small...errr house? on a huge ass spire :P build a goddam tower that is a tower not a branch :P... anyway the theme is amazing

  • Good work!

  • When I was little, I always thought the Ivory Tower looked like a stalk of corn.

  • WOW great job editing that! Its seemless!

  • The special effects back then are so much better than CG

  • If only the Final Fantasy movies could've been this good. But, sadly, they weren't

  • I've always thought of this movie as Final Fantasy Zero.

  • Why's that? I've never really played any of the games (except Crystal Chronicles) so I'm not that familiar with them, other than occasionally viewing footage and music online.

  • The earlier Final Fantasy games (5-9) had awe-inspiring settings like the ivory tower.

  • @MrLazy27 That's...a surreally accurate way of putting it. o_o

  • The new blu-ray disc coming out next week will have a 5.1 surround track in Dolby true HD that should be easy to rip music from without the dialogue track. Also, there is already a dutch import DVD that is in 5.1 where the audio can be ripped from as well.

  • Yes, i've been looking for this version in AGES!

  • Thanks for uploading this version.

    *****

  • Pretty incredible peice. Really makes you believe that the Ivory Tower is the unbreakable core of fantasy, which it is meant to be.

  • I completely agree. It takes me back to when I was very young, to a time when fantasy was something magical to be treasured. Almost as though there was a certain power in believing in fantasy. A very moving piece for me.

  • Giorgio Moroder, from Italy!!! great soundtrack

  • Sure. Try MediaFire. They're pretty awsome.

  • Hi there. How can I get this theme in audio file, please?

  • I got a great result from video2mp3(dot)net :) Just copy and paste the video url into the site.

  • Fantastic job piecing the two scenes together to make the complete theme. Such a shame it's never been released as a track, the soundtrack seems incomplete.

  • Thank you SO much for posting this! I've been looking for this version of the Ivory Tower theme...I'm not a fan of the synthesized one. If I knew you in person--and it wouldn't come off as slightly creepy--I would give you a huge hug for this!

  • The Neverending Story is like my favorite fantasy movie ever! I even read the book which was a really good book but when it shows the Ivory Tower in the movie it looks so beautiful it sends shivers down my spine.

  • Nice job splicing the two cuts together to remove the dialogue. :)

  • Right on brother, good work!

  • The best piece of music ever made.

  • @Mumriken Nope, Doldinger's original soundtrack's much better, imho. But that's just me.

  • Yes the remake comes out 2012.....

  • I like them both, but i have to agree with DaredevilWF, because this song is unic and gives the Ivory tower it's own powerfull soundtrack

  • The Moroder score was perfect.

  • I still think the Moroder theme beats the Doldinger theme for when they arrive to the Tower cause the Happy Flight theme is good but used too much Fast and Slow this theme gives the Tower its Aura and awe that is why I like this better

  • i really wish this was released on the original soundtrack - that's the only disappointment I have with it. Happy Flight will always fill me up with joy, but the Ivory Tower theme done like this is so beautiful and its really missed on that album

  • @frizico does your heart every swell when your hear this on a loud sound system?....this song is so powerful it brings tears to the eyes...perhaps cause it takes us back to that time when we were kids and we first saw this movie and were completely enthralled and captivated. perhaps it reminds us of a time in our childhood when magic was still possible and this movie made it REAL for us,at least for a little while.

  • @KeithWasHere1 It certainly does and I agree with you - we're all grown up and full of stresses and responsibilities and this music returns us to a time when life was truly magical - it provides an escape and a reminder to remember the magic and not allow the 'swamps of sadness' in every day life overtake you!

  • @frizico finally another believer! i turned 33 back in Jan,and whenever i watch videos like this or the other movies i listed, man do the memories come flooding back.like the first time you ever saw a chemical break light/aka glowstick and thought it was the most wondrous thing ever, HOLY CRAP! they even came in red and blue!!!! lol..even the ai rwolf theme brings a tear to my eye and a rush to my heart for some reason i don't know its weird...good to know another person feels the way i do.

  • @KeithWasHere1 I'll be 32 in December and i know exactly what you mean. Classic movies that we grew up with like this, along with others such as The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Willow, E.T., Legend, The Last Unicorn and The Secret of NIMH, among others, remind us all of a time when life was truly wondrous and magical.

  • @TheAltair4

Don't forget The Princess Bride, Fire and Ice, Flight of Dragons, Return to oz, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (aka Warriors of the Wind), Black Cauldron and Rock and Rule are other good family fantasy classics we grew up with as well.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Indeed! Those are all great ones too.

  • @TheAltair4 there really were so many classic movies from the 80's. There was a lot more creative ideas (ex: Back to the Future) and there was a lot more attention paid to storytelling.

Today, the rage seems to be to have all this mindless action and stunts while the contrast is punched up, and the color is either desaturated or highly tinted to one shade of color. It's as if people don't know how to light a scene anymore so they exaggerate the fake appearance to call it "stylish."

  • @Knightmessenger I could not possibly agree more. Movies were so such much more beautiful looking when i was growing up and so much more attention was paid to the storytelling, unlike most of the tripe these days. True creativity and imagination have gone completely out the window these days in favor of mindless CGI spectacle and teen oriented glamour combined with ugly, depressing, desaturated, digitally manipulated visuals posing as "stylishly brilliant" cinematography. It's really quite sad.

  • @TheAltair4

Does James Cameron fall in this trap or does he make pure cinema?

  • @Johnlindsey289 Avatar is a very fun, colorful and highly entertaining throwback to many of the classics i grew up with that respected storytelling so i would have to say that Cameron does not fall into that trap. Not yet anyway.

  • @Knightmessenger Completely agree! stop with the tinting, it looks cheap, it's good for some scenes, but not for a whole movie.

  • nice job on avoiding the speaking parts and getting the song alone! i love this!

  • It was in the Hollywood Reporter. No cast, director, or anything announced yet, but apparently a studio is interested in doing an update of it.

  • Did you guys hear they are making a new movie of this. But it will include the whole book this time not just the first half.

I leaving my opinion open for it hope it does good but it will not replace this one in my heart or be as good as the book

  • I think if it was done properly a remake of this movie could be fantastic. I love the original but the effects are rather dated now. Of course the 2nd movie was pretty bad and we won't even touch on III. I would love to see The Neverending Story truly follow the book in an epic story line similar to how the 10 hour Lord of the Rings movie series was done.

  • 'bout time this gets online!

  • Finally! I've been searching for ages! Thanks sooo much for posting this!

  • Thanks for posting this video. I've been looking for this theme song forever. Neverending Story was one of my all time favorite movies when I was a kid. Makes me feel young again

  • Can we get this in MP3 please???? A childhood dream come true.

  • Download Realplayer. You can download the video from Youtube, then burn it to a CD

  • Thank you for this info, i have managed to get it onto disc now and will be able to play it at my wedding.

  • You're welcome.

  • Thankyou so much. I could die happy hearing that tune.

  • i need an mp3 of this >,>

i luv the movie so much

  • Yes! Now THIS is th eoriginal theme music that I remember!

  • Did u take this music from "The Neverending story" DVD menu???

  • Only the part at about 10 seconds is the dvd menu partially mixed in. (To minimize the Rockbiter saying "Wow") The rest is from the part of the movie accompanying the audio.

The dvd menu sound quality is not nearly as good as the actual music that plays in the movie.

  • Cool....thanx for posting by the way this movie is awesome:)

  • I always wondered, what was the name Bastion decided to pick for the Child Like Emperess? I know he gave her his mothers name. But I could make out what it was when he called it out. Does anyone know?

  • As far as I know, it's Magdalene -at least it is so in the Hungarian version.

  • Nice :) thank-you. I've been wondering that since I saw this movie when I was a little girl.

  • He calls out Moon Child in English, Monderkind in German.

  • Lol I thought it was something like uoruoeioaoeadugh!

  • @007guy19 LOL!

  • In the french version, i'ts Marina I think.

  • Moonchild is her name :) read the book its awesome!!!

  • Something to think about: Since the Ivory Tower is in the center of Fantasia and is resistant to the nothing, does that make it kind of the core of Fantasy?

  • Good question. I never really understood why the Ivory Tower was still standing and I don't think the book had more of an explanation either.

  • Well, I just posted that here cause i thought this song enhanced that feeling.

  • SPOILER WARNING!

In the book much of Fantasia still remained when Atreyu reports his failure to the empress. The scene when Bastian enters Fantasia takes place elsewhere.

  • The answer is that the Ivory Tower wasn't resistant to the nothing - the reason it is still intact by the time Atreyu and Falcor get there is because The Nothing hasn't finished destroying all of fantasia yet.

That's why later when it reaches the Tower and starts obliterating it, the Childlike Empress starts calling out for Bastion to show himself and save them. Because the Nothing has finally reached them and will obliterate what is left of the fantasy world.

  • In my opinion, this theme is better than the german version in every way.

  • right, this version is more various than the original..

  • I totally agree. Is there anyway to express to the correct people this interest in the original composition? It seems like there's a disconnect between the people who own the song, and the people who wuold be interested in buying it if it was available.

  • I fear the people who own this song are the same people who are currently deleting videos all over youtube. But yea, maybe that's possible.

  • That would be silly. Honestly, the only thing videos like this could do is generate more interest in a new dvd release of the movie.

I don't buy many dvd's anymore, I already have plenty. Never Ending Story special edition is one that would be on my 'must have' list.

  • I completely agree with you. But somehow they fail to understand that.

And yes, a TNES special edition would be awesome and a "must have"!

  • So beautiful

  • Wonderful piece of music, to bad it was never released in it's original form. Great!!!
