this kid goes to my school, he is usually on tour, but when he is in school he only stays for the morning then after lunch he practices violin for the rest of the day

I got a chance to see him perform a few months ago (second act was Carmina Burana by Carl Orff) and this kid is AMAZING!!!! I mean the passion he puts into his intrument shows a love and a dedication. I can only imagine what he will be like in a few years,....but Chad has one of those old souls where he makes the violin sing such sweet music.

Accompanied by tremendous applause the International Jury for the Menuhin Competition awarded 1st Prize in the Junior Competition to Chad Hoopes aged 13 from America. Second prize was awarded to Dmitry Smirnov aged 13 from Russia and Third prize to Mindy Chen aged 12 years old from America.

The competition was hosted in partnership with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the University of Glamorgan's Cardiff School of Creative & Cultural Industries

chad is pretty amazing.

we were both in the play snow white with him when he lived in minnesota, and he was the lead dwarf named gustaf.

he played violin when snow white died, and during intermission with his two sisters.

He played for a few of us at my school while in Cardiff for the Yehudi Menuhin contest. One word- AMAZING!!! And he went on to win the contest as well... :D Well done Chad!
