Wow Debbie has amazing cardiovascular strength. What you must understand about jumping rope is, you must have a very strong heart. It develops your heart muscles and makes your stamina go up. But please, start with a timer. Do 10 seconds at a time and slowly build your self up. Debbie did about 2 minutes.. amazing pace.. She made it look so easy. Amazing video!
Listen. Theres nothing as TONING your body. You cannot do spot fat removal. Jump roping helps you remove the fat on your body, by burning calories. It dosent develop musclemass.
@dkzjesse jump rope does tone your body and in a small dose it does develop muscles. You definitely won't end up looking like you did some strength conditioning.
@THEdevilWEARSprada29 Jumping rope will have a positive effect on your feet, ankles, calves, hamstrings, glutes. But really jumping rope is great for your entire body for more reasons than one.
I like to pretend like the jump rope doesn't exist. Then it is really funny watching people jump rope. This is a good one, if you picture the movements with no rope. I've been jumping rope every day and i'm hoping this helps flatten my stomach out a lot, because I don't like sit ups that much.
Is it easy to get injuries from the repetitive impacts of jumping rope? I've heard that many people get shin splints from this activity, but I'm not sure if it's true or if there are techniques that help you avoid this outcome.
@noonej when jumping rope shin splints occur when you land on your toes and keep your ankle rigid. Instead you should land on the ball of your foot and allow the ankle to move as it needs for smooth landing. Also don't try to land, simply allow your feet to land.
I love this video I'm going go try. Can you demo some of the pose running methods for us too? Like what is the difference between slow and fast pose running? Cos when I tried pose running on the treadmill I was sprinting easily at a speed I never thought possible. But only for 39 secs, hehe! Thankssssss
Indeed skipping is a great exercise but Posture first please or you're asking for calf problems. Cause or effect - Debbie is able to do this because she is integrated. You can start by taking your shoes and socks off and going for a walk. Happy Running :)
its nice..clear descriptions,.enthusiastic, pleasant open area, pretty " teacher", clear sound, pronounciation and speech....Congratulations, thanks, and greetings from Chile (wonderful land even with our earthquakes)
Awesome video Debbie. I refer my clients to this video as the best example of skipping drills currently available. I believe the jumps towards the end of the video are particularly important. For people doing the jumps make sure you pull your feet up behind you using your hamstrings rather than pushing off with your quads. Start with a few (three sets of 10 reps) and gradually build up. Progress to barefoot skipping as your skill improves. Happy skipping :)
Notice how Debbie manages to isolate and use the hamstrings only (instead of hip flexors) to lift feet towards the hips when doing these skipping drills. This is an extremely important movement to master both physically and perceptually to ensure good sound running technique. She makes it look easy and second nature. My hamstrings feel like two alien lumps grafted onto my legs that have very little in common with me at the moment...All in good time...=)
I figured this out for myself, but it is good to see it confirmed by an expert. I was jumping rope one day in front of the mirror and noticed that you almost have to do perfect pose form to jump rope...interesting. Then it's just a matter of leaning forward and you are running pose. Great video.
Skipping is so good for you, she's out of breath after less than 3 minutes! A+

does it help you tone your arms too?
nikiioli 7 months ago
@nikiioli not exactly but I guess the sheer fact that you're moving your arms could be beneficial.

Does this help get a flat stomach if you hate situps?
justapodcast 10 months ago
@justapodcast not on it's own but it would contribute to overall tightening up so to say

I do this bare foot and smash my toes all the time
marineninga 1 year ago
@marineninga lighten up :) allow your feet to simply land, don't smash then down, let them fall down. Relax your ankle.
