The way I think of Bathory is like going 70mph while laying on the hood of a car. These bands today, while they play faster, the feeling of speed and danger is removed because you are sitting comfortably in the leather bucket seat in the passenger side with your seat belt securely attached. Quorthon had a hidden knowledge to create this music, which is why no matter how metal changes, the feeling and atmosphere of Bathory will never die.

good thing Quorthon did pretty much everything by himself on a 4 track recorder in a warehouse somewhere. poor as fuck and he still rocks with whatever he has, the distortion and dirtiness of it is what gives it that special feel, like listening to and old record.
