An easy way to tell apart LaChapelle's is through his oversatuaraion of colors in his works. He makes incredibly artistic and bizarre works of art, like this video.

@face2faceish1 fleshtone is a five for me. it's a musical masterpiece in it's own right. it may seem like she changed to fit the current sound, but her sound on that album is still much, much different than the current electro-infused sound out there. it's not about sex or self-legitimization in an over-glorious way, it's self-legitimization for a global collective. i love it.
@uthunderilightning I could see how people would give it a 5/5. "Flesh Tone" knows exactly what it is, and dealing with technical aspects, it is the best. I rated it a little lower than her previous works because I thought that the album wasn't really an "album", more like an experiment. It seems to me like Kelis was working with different beats, and trying something a little new. I still like it, I just don't LOVE it.
@face2faceish1 I respect that. As long as you can recognize the fact that it is a work of art, I'm happy. I just feel like so many people pointed fingers at her for ditching her urban edge; in reality, if you take the time to listen to the songs and reflect on what's happening in the urban scene, she's making music that fits the urban market in a new way. I love it, I do, and that's coming from someone who fell in love with Kaleidoscope at a very young age.

this is what I miss about Neptunes magic. no pretentious attempts at art-rock like on the N.E.R.D. records. sure, those can be catchy too, but this shit was fun as well. kelis is one of the most underrated singers in the history of hip-hop and the Neptunes are beat geniuses. nuff said.

@face2faceish1 fleshtone is a five for me. it's a musical masterpiece in it's own right. it may seem like she changed to fit the current sound, but her sound on that album is still much, much different than the current electro-infused sound out there. it's not about sex or self-legitimization in an over-glorious way, it's self-legitimization for a global collective. i love it.

@uthunderilightning I could see how people would give it a 5/5. "Flesh Tone" knows exactly what it is, and dealing with technical aspects, it is the best. I rated it a little lower than her previous works because I thought that the album wasn't really an "album", more like an experiment. It seems to me like Kelis was working with different beats, and trying something a little new. I still like it, I just don't LOVE it.

@face2faceish1 I respect that. As long as you can recognize the fact that it is a work of art, I'm happy. I just feel like so many people pointed fingers at her for ditching her urban edge; in reality, if you take the time to listen to the songs and reflect on what's happening in the urban scene, she's making music that fits the urban market in a new way. I love it, I do, and that's coming from someone who fell in love with Kaleidoscope at a very young age.
