Well the Winchester 97 is a 12 guage pump action shotgun, it was originlly also offered in 20 guage as well.

They were made from 1893 to around 1957, and they were commonly known as Model 1897 shotguns, or M97's for short.

It has a solid follower, external hammer, and a 6 round magazne.

IIRC it can be slam fired.

Yea, the model you're thinking of is the winchester 1887. Butt ugly firearm but effective. It was used in the movie terminator 2.

The 1897 wasn't made in 1893. The 1893 was. The 1893 was a damascus barreled blackpowder pump. With the invention of smokeless shells, Winchester had to come out with a pump that could shoot smokeless.
