Contrary to popular belief, we are doing better then most people think. The reason why we are still dealing with these guys is that they are fighting among the local population. So unless you want the US to kill people in mass, then it will take time to defeat these guys while making sure that no innocents die.
I did not, and I have had a chance to go to several parts on eastern Iraq, up until the Iran border. They have access to power and clean water. As far as when each area got them up and running varies but the fact that people setting up bombs across the country kinda slows that type of work down.

the morally corrupt society we have now is a direct result of the sanctions. Anyoen could see that they only succeeded in raising a generation of alienated, impoverished Iraiqs whose only experience of the world outside was fear. There was no element of 'the stick' at all to the sanctions as far as the dictatorship was concerend.

1. The reason we gave him support was that we viewed Iran a greater threat then Iraq. It is the same reason we helped Russia against Germany.
2. Any idea of removing him was gone after the "highway of death" and there was a general opinion that a invasion of Iraq was taking the UN mandate too far.
3. Not sure how that would work given that a good dictator knows how to pass the buck around.
4. Would have been better but the situations where different in the how to part.

I highly doubt that, if you serve in the military you do not have a choice to chose where you go. You are also required to honor your contract.
What is so hard about that? If you are not willing to deploy to anywhere around the military then do not join.

You have no idea do you. The that part that gets forgotten is that in the US military you are only required to follow lawful orders and a deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan does not violate that.
I have yet to be ordered to kill people at random, destroy property at random or anything else of the like.

Contrary to popular belief, we are doing better then most people think. The reason why we are still dealing with these guys is that they are fighting among the local population. I did not, and I have had a chance to go to several parts on eastern Iraq, up until the Iran border. They have access to power and clean water. As far as when each area got them up and running varies but the fact that people setting up bombs across the country kinda slows that type of work down.
So you where in Iraq last week? In what providence area? Also what organization are you with?

I was in Baghdad, where people are reliant on generators. I was there doing some academic research. No organisation or group involved.

The more rural cities and towns have access to power generates of various sizes. I have photos that show this, but my internet connection is not all that great. But it shows that the towns do have power and that it is not as scarce as people think.
Also your talking about things that have happened 5 years ago when we are already dealing with new challenges that have happened last week.

I cannot say because i do not know the original plan, but like anything it could always be better. Also from the information I have read it was not for a lack of trying. One thing that is interesting is that I have talked to some IAs and IPs that complain about the new security pact that now the Iraqi government is in control of supplying them, they cannot get the things that they need. But supplies where there when the Americans where in charge.
