  • Ingenious, but wouldn't it better to get an old used shaper? I think you'll have more control and will be a bit faster.

    Absolutely, however I had the steel and ram in our shop so other than an hour of time it did not cost us anything.  Going forward with new dies I will have the CNC machines do the broaching, so I only need to do what I currently have on the shelf.
