  • yo i was wondering what you call the sleeves cuz i knew my shocks were stock, but i can also lower them. i need some coilovers cuz dis busted shock business not workin 4 me.

  • 1:20. You almost said fucked up haha.

  • FULL ADJUSTABLE COIL OVERS. Nuff said

  • its a good thing you live in canada. that way you have have youre car rust out and have youre struts blow up. i suggest getting a truck

  • Run a 15 with a lol thicker side wall and you be fine. The 17s would kill stock struts lol

  • so when you first installed them how low were they set? i heard tha if you stay above 2 inches ebay sleeves on stock struts are just fine.

  • @bmxn4l1f3 I believe I began at 1.8" of drop and over a course of 6 months ended up being around 2.5" of drop which was too much for the struts to handle. It's up to your discretion regarding using oem struts and sleeves. I actually feel that since the price of coilovers has dropped and there are so many different available options which keep the spring preload it is the best way to go.

  • Not only are the roads shit in Canada. At least Ontario, but there's fucking retarded steep-angled curbs everywhere.

  • that's why you buy full body coils man megan racing is cheap and some of the parts are shit but it's better than the whole koni and ground control systems people recommend because you are either compressing the spring or the shock which is bad and im not sure about winter driving man not something i would do in my car im buying a second car to keep my soon to be autocross miata out of rain and snow

  • kw v3 coilovers man

  • on my acura CL i just craigslist searched 'acura springs' found some integra springs (most honda/integra's springs are universal, but i'm sure you know that from your integra struts lol) from megan racing for 50 dollars. then went and bought 4 KYB AGX struts from rockauto.com for 40 bucks a piece. went to autozone to buy the top mounts since i totally forgot about them when ordering the rest.

  • dangg.. should have got a fender roller, i noticed your back fender's paint is really chipped

  • As of suggestion most full bodied coilovers with an adjustable lower perch such as PIC, Buddy club, Ksports ect are infact better than a sleeve set up as it maintains shock travel allowing for a reduction in ride height without increasing the strain so much on the shock for a longer life.

  • i cant believe your shocks lasted 2 years of winter driving on stock shocks with ebay coilovers. i could never get that lucky mine would blow in a day.

  • how long was u driving on those for

  • @1989rrichard About 2 years they were just great until I kept itching to push the limits and drop the car more.

  • new wheels. fersure

  • No offense dude, but coming to youtube for car advice is about the worst idea ever. way to many keyboard mechanics around here. just get on a forum for your specific car and they should be able to guide you in the right direction.

  • did you say Ebay sleeves? if so thats the issue, low quality stuff..

  • Heh typical Civic owner. Never bothering to do any research and wondering why his car sucks so bad.

  • @kompressor124 Never did I wonder why my original shocks seals crapped out. Reduction in suspension travel, under dampened, and old. Shocks failed and it can occur on any vehicle with the combination of the aforementioned possibilities. This is more of a simple educational video for people who do not know how to visually diagnose a 100% blown shock and the potential issues that come with it.

  • I ahve the same exact car!

  • I got a question. This won't happen in a warm area right? I live in Florida, where its hot almost year round and winters are perfect.

  • @RainingSushi It'll happen anywhere if your shocks aren't able to operate effectively.

  • are the key words in this "canadian" and winter driving". but loveee the rims:]

  • Koni yellow on H&R sport springs, which part of canada do you live in?

  • stunnerwhips. com

  • Everything about this video is gay

  • your nice arnt you

  • Yes I am

  • buy coil overs nuff said

  • ur accent is awesom

  • get a car with a btter wheel well depth and sort that bumper out its fucked so are are the arches by the look of things.

  • im no auto expert but if the "roads are really horrible" there in Canada, wouldnt getting rid of your gap be the last thing you would want? ie clearance for potholes etc

  • This does make sense but if you get yourself a good set of aftermarket struts and springs or adjustable coilovers, you wil have very little play in the suspention so the tire will not rub. Depending on how your setup is though, you may or may not feel the hard bumps but good coilovers offer the drop, stiffness and comfy ride at the same time.

  • @melonheed3 I'd agree with that, if the roads are bad and you add in the snow/ice factor you'd want to keep all the clearance/suspension travel. since they either sand or salt the roads each winter it's going to eat your suspension, I'd either stick to the stock or swap out the good stuff before it starts snowing each winter :-p I live in Alaska so I get to feel the pain too... when I get to WI this May I'm getting adjustable coilovers :-D

  • i gotta ep3 and had coilovers for about 2 years and what had happend to your struts happend to mine and i then got some good conditon used struts with lowering springs and the car is pretty low and it rides way better then before so would say get lowering springs there much better than coilover.thanx

  • when ever you lower a car/truck you change not just how high it sets but your camber, caster and toe on your alignment coilovers are okay to use you just need struts with the same rebowned as your coils and a good camber kit if anyone of these are not matched you could get uneven tire ware or a bad ride even with the right stuff make sure not to bottom out the coil or you will be riding on the bump stop witch will blow the struts out

  • my car is lowered and i think i have the same problem...my back right shock keeps on makin noise...im afraid its gonna plow right through the car...i oredered konico struts fits with my springs..i hope this gives a smoother ride and no noise..

  • i have a question u put coilovers on stock struts right? i did the same and my car was incradably bouncy why is that?? please help me out

  • Becuz that how too be cool. Bouncy like a Honda

  • how many miles are on your car? your suspension shouldn't bounce, (obviously) ether the springs are messed up, or the struts have failed.

  • import owners never wanna get their hands dirty....

  • my springs are so bad on my car if i know the road is fucked up i have to get off and go the long way around it

  • If you are interested in mainly just comestics. I suggest using lowering springs with aftermarket shocks such as Koni's or KYB AGX otherwise spend the money on a full coilover system.

  • so did you have a problem with you camber?

and how well did it ride....cuz iam having problems with my car

  • The camber was fine not much wear on the inside of the tires. When my Upper controls arms went bad my front two tires were BALD from the inside 3/4 of the tire.

The steering wheel also wanted to wander everywhere.

  • It drove well when the shocks were not blown. Afterwards the car bounced as if it had springs for wheels.

  • yea after i installed me arospeed coilovers i had a really bad camber my front tires are dead. Im think of getting some Blox camber kit

  • thats why you buy a winter car and dont drive it in winter

  • Being a university student and trying to save for anything car related almost doesn't work. If I had enough money to buy a winter beater I would not be using stock shocks and cheap sleeveovers.

Do not ever cheapout on you suspension it can be dangerous to you and the others around you.

  • ahhaha should have seen the shocks on my jetta after stock shocks with 2in drop springs. there was no resistance at all. you could pull the rod in and out with no force. but it is my own fault. as your shocks are you own fault also. stock shocks where never made to take the abuse of lowering.

  • i have the same problem

my front shocks a pretty bad

i might go wit stock struts but i wanna still have my drop

  • hey man i just bought an adjustable coilover and i just wanna know if i just install the springs not to install the adjuster with it, how low would it be????and by the way i have an eg6

  • Installing just the springs, If they do fit would be a horrible idea. Very unsafe since they are only about 5"-7.5" in length versus stock which is about 12-14".

The generic adjusters can lower the car easily 2.75"+ in the front and the rear 2.5"-2.75" before you have to cut a part of the strut spring seat. Without the adjusters you could be 4" or more dropped easily which is HIGHLY UNSAFE on your car.

Don't go overboard with the drop.

  • nice wheels thinking of white for my black saxo vtr :)

  • lol "this one is ffffuu... clearly done"

  • Yeah, I almost slipped up there. I'm not used to making videos and I don't rehearse or rerecord anything ever not my style.

AN UPDATE: I have been on Integra struts and my OEM civic springs for the past few months and its been great not bouncing around.

Some problems from blown shocks on my suspension include:

Bad/worn upper control arms on the front

Destroyed front lower control arm bushings

2 horribly worn front tires form combination of above.

  • hay go waith eibach they are great and at a great price i drive my civic eg at the track and all year round and i have had them for over two years now.

  • Ksport fully adjustable...

  • tein or eibach but there not meant for winter no real performance setup is winterized so id just get the cheapest best adjustable shocks u can buy and get performance springs skunk 2 has nice setup too but up to u later

  • go with function form F2 type 1 coilovers its a full coilover and proly the best for street use i've had teins, skunk2 and the same as you but the F2 coilovers worked the best for bumpy roads here in utica they run about $600 on ebay so the are cheap 2

  • Tokico Blue with springs, It'll give you a 1.40 " drop... I'll actually be picking them up for my civic in a few weeks, about 400.00... man after seeing yours with only 2 years of winter, i think mine have been on it since it was made 2000

  • koni yellow shock is the best lifttime warranty
