There's a very cool iPhone app called Satellite Augmented Reality. It has a database of over 370 geo sats and lets you view where they are in the sky. It also calculates the azimuth and elevation angles for you based on your location. In addition, it lets you enter a virtual location in order to see what the satellite view would be in, say China, if you are in the US.

hey so you know it's "jittery" cos the compass was never intended to be used for this purpose, it sends out rough readings that have a pretty significant standard deviation...

The solution is to either poll the compass for a reading at a lower frequency and interpolate the data with animations, or to beg apple to make a better compass :)

You don't have to shake the phone to activate it. It's not a secret,

1) open Yelp

2) At the bottom right click on more

3) Click on settings

4) scroll down and you have the option to turn monocle on or off.

...You do have to shake it. The option to turn monocle on or off only appears after you've shaken.
