I'm in the process of going vegan, but I'd just like to say; I have a friend who owns an organic apple orchard. She keeps beehives to encourage bees to stay and pollenate her trees, and occasionally she collects small amounts of honey from them (kind of like you said in previous videos about your friend with the cows). She and a bunch of other farmers all do this and they sell the honey at a farmer's market. I consider this honey an exception to my vegan diet, but otherwise, no way!
Are you in Sydney? If you are we have to hook up & get the word out on the streets...I totally know how u feel about not wanting people to see you angry, but passion is important to...It'll make people think twice-I can only hope anyways...
I really need people in sydney Australia to put a stop to this shit...
err, sorry I meant to say people i know who are non vegan are more so aware of the fur being bad then they are about the leather being bad. Leather people seem to forget that it comes from an animal /:
LOL! Love your videos. :) I don't like the pseudo-"vegans" who eat honey too. Without even knowing the physical harm that is caused to the bees, why steal something they work so hard to make? It's a really bitchy thing to do. :P
I think it's part of the vegan definition to avaoid honey too!
It's actually easier to avoid honey than dairy, because dairy is in waaaaay more products, so I don't understand how someone who's made the huge commitment of avoiding dairy can't avoid honey too.
What I really hate ( I'm a vegetarian), is when omnivores say "but eating meat is natural, What do lions eat... durr you stupid vegetarian" or something along those lines, I try and explain why it isn't cos we don't NEED to eat meat...but they never understand -_-
It is okay for wild animals to eat each other because for them it is a life or death situation. Humans have long since evolved beyond such needs and have found that carnivorism is actually not very healthy. It would be interesting to do some research as to how carnivorism may have evolved. It can easily be said that humans did not evolve to be carnivores considering our physiology and evolutionary history. I could go into this deeper, but not without posting additional comments.
That bee thing reminds me of a documentary when they had a queen bee stuck to a pole that was rotating outside some place with the camera up close, and other bees would mount her then fall off and die. Another part showed them holding a bee and opening it up exposing the sperm to be then taken. What was the point of this? They just pointed out the damn obvious, that bees reproduce. Idiots.
I watched all of your videos. I know how you feel. Ignorance is bliss and then you wake up and everyone else is still living in the dark ages. It sucks.
He he he I had SOOOO much to get off my chest when I made these videos. I think this was almost 6 months of frustration I hadn't really expressed to anyone :-D
The honey thing! >:{ I told my grandma I didn't eat honey while we were camping and she was like "WHAT DON'T YOU EAT HONEY! IT DOESN'T HURT ANYTHING!?!"
i think it's fine to wear fake leather than fake fur for the following reason...
because when people wear a fur coat it's made to look like actual animal fur. fake leather or actual leather is designed to match the shoe instead of where it came from. animal or not. because of my vegan beliefs i don't wear leather. but i think it's ok to wear fake leather. i mean come on, that's like saying don't eat a veggie burger because it looks like a hamburger.
Oh, of course I'm not telling anyone not to wear pleather. As vegan leather advances it looks more and more like the real thing, my bro has a pair of very expensive boots and I couldn't tell they were fake. I was just saying that both fur and leather use animals as fabrics I don't really see why a fake version of either is less 'moral' then the other.
I don't know about bees not being sentient, all sentient means is having sensory awareness i.e. the ability to feel. They have a nervous system much like a lobster or other creatures with an exoskeleton. I can share some links with you if you are interested :-)
lol this really was amazing. i agree with the bee thing. i didnt get it before, i just figured it was an animal and that was why we vegans didnt eat honey, but i didnt know what they did to them. GROSE! haha nice video xx
Ugh, my boyfriend's mom drove me crazy the other day. I love her as well, but i guess she just doesn't really understand much about the whole vegan thing, and whenever it's time to eat, i become a nuisance (sp?). the other day she got pizza from little caesar's and told me i'd be fine if i just threw away the cheese on my pizza. well, doesn't that kind of defeat the whole purpose? BAH
I never thought you were! :( What made you think I thought you were being mean??? All I did was try to answer your question and I felt it needed more of a response then you can leave in a comment box.
It doesn't require any discipline to be vegan. Once you are armed with all the knowledge you will never want to eat these things again. When I see people eating meat, milk or eggs I am not jealous, but I do feel a little sick and very happy I am not eating it too.
No, I'm not talking about finding something distasteful because you think it is a bit weird e.g. raw fish when you are used to cooked. I mean that because I now aknowledge the truth about where animal products come from I feel sickened when I see people eating them, as if they were eating roasted human babies or something...that is the best explaination for how I feel about it. Watch Earthlings, and if you still want animal products after that you might want to get your head checked.

lol about the fur thing,
It really is ironic because I've noticed more people that are non vegan conscious about fur than they are leather.
These videos are making me proud to be vegan (8

What would you suggest to someone who wants to be more active, but is unsure as to where to start?

To clarify, I mean that I do not see a moral difference between fake fur and fake leather.
TheVeganicWitch 3 years ago
I've always thought the same thing. Nobody can tell that your fake leather is fake.
I doubt that bees are sentient because they lack a true cerebral cortex. I agree that people who eat honey aren't vegan, by definition.
