this song is just GORGEOUS but the part that gets me is when Bailey closes her eyes and sings 'I need your grace' because you can tell she is praying so hard for her friend, and she says it with so much passion it is such a short line but Chandra Wilson just knocks it right out
After George O'malley's death, that was one of the most dramatic and beautiful episodes I've ever seen in Grey's Anatomy! I must admit that I cried so much in both situations.
I think the humour comes from the fact that they've never sung before -- it's a shock thing. I know it did for me. The only time I laughed in the whole episode was when Owen first sang but after a line I was like 'oh my god; he just got SOOO much hotter!!'
But it's just what shows do. Star Trek's had songs a hundred times, Buffy had a musical episode, the list goes on. And it makes more sense than the Muppet episode of Angel. :/
I thought it was a little strange they made the musical around such a serious episode at first, but got over that. I think it was made pretty obvious it was all in Callie's head and I got the impression it was all what she imagined would be happening when it wasn't her singing. I think it was a nice idea because they used songs that had been important in previous episodes. It was almost like a tribute, so the seriousness was OK. It wasn't a 'taking the mickey' episode like most musical eps. :)
@Qu33nii Ehh, the fact that they sang throughout the show, while they were operating just...it was just dumb. She didn't sing every song, nearly the whole cast sang songs. When she sang, it gave it some feeling and it was kind of saddening and yes it did seem to foreshadow that it was a really bad event, but when everyone else joined it all dropped. XD It was funny though, but I hope it never happens again.
This was an AMAZING episode!!! I absolutely loved the singing and how they mixed it so well with the rest of the events. I found nothing funny about it... matter of fact I found myself reaching for my box of kleenex quite a few times lol I hope they do it again!!!
@ScottyW89 Same here! My mother and I watch this show every Thursday(except when it's repeats) and seeing this...It just turned into a friggen comedy! No. You can't have people from a freaking drama all trying to sing in a musical! It ruined it. If Callie was singing that would have been fine, because it would have made her singing actually significant and it added a bit more feeling to it. But when the cast was operating and singing? That cracked me up!
@Kitsunegirl1212 I don't watch this show, but the singing is probably significant to what the trauma did to her brain. I'm assuming. She seemed to be the only one aware of it. It kind of foreshadowed what was to come. There must have been some severe damage to her brain, which is mentioned in the beginning.
I find it interesting to hear these actors sing. That ginger one is a hawty. <3

She saw her doppelganger...i thought she was going to die and the best part with Grey's Anatomy is that you NEVER know whats going to happen.

@meteosmaster yeah, because their singing isn't real. it only happens in callie's head.
