  • looks real good chard, nice one.

  • that pink one was stunning ^^

  • The seeds are actually a piece of fruit and have about 8 seeds in each. To thin out just cut the seedlings above the soil line.

  • Beautiful chard, I am jealous. thank you I think I will plant the red from now on,

It is good that you cut away what you want to eat as you go.

  • Growing Swiss Chard for the 1st time this year, your videos have been very helpful. Thanks.

  • Great info Todd thanks! I love chard, first planted it last summer. I pulled up all the plants and ate them. I have more now I just harvest the leaves so the plant keeps growing. Your second planting tip was great too. Do you think a second crop is possible for temperature zone 5? thanks

  • Thanks! Very thorough and helpful.

  • Do you use your own compost and if you do how do you make it?

  • @SuperGigiOoo I just moved here so I didn't have time to make any so I used store bought basic cheap compost. Composted horse manure mixed with regular compost is really good. I am in the process of making a video about making composted horse manure.

  • i have swiss chard bright lights, they are so cool, they have rainbow stems!!

  • @choco33333333... I JUST saw a picture of them in my Birds & Bloom magazine! I've never grown chard..but i have to try and grow these 'Bright Lights'.!! lol..they look amazing! ...i was looking for them here on YT..thats how i found Todds' video..I'm going to have to grow them in a container since i live on a houseboat ...do u think that'll work? Thanx :)

  • okay thanks thats what ill try.. happy growing. thanks again for replying.

  • thanks tod that was helpful. I am in las vegas nevada and I was wondering if i should protect them from the intense sunli.ght . I dont want toaster chard. haha

  • @DeAnDiStRuCtAbLe Actually I should have mentioned this in my video. They like the sun but not the heat I would plant them where they get the morning and noon sun not the hot afternoon sun. The ones I grew where in winter. This summer I will shade them with other plants.

  • Hi Todd, Thank you for this video! This helps a lot! I have started the seeds now, non have germinated yet. I will keep you posted! Again, thanks!
