I'm a stylist & I always let them pick what color & where they want it.I teach my hair dressers to let people choose.When I use to get my hair done before ,I'd get so mad bc they never wanted to do what I wanted.Now, I can get whatever I want! @JasminesCosmetics Tbh, it's very difficult and damaging to dark hair to go full blond. It requires a ton of bleach, and a ton of upkeep-pricey and damaging. It's recommended to go lighter from a darker colour to do it in stages, with highlights. Less damaging, and it's easier to see if you'd actually suit the look rather than doing it all in one and having to dye it back because you hate it.

by box dye,USE 2dye my hair dark brown every 4weeks.i then dyed it light brown with golden tint- made my roots go GINGER.then dyed it dark brown to get rid of ginger roots.since then ive grown it out- was a year ago i last dyed it.now my hair half light brown(natural color)with a suttle ginge bit in middle(where i tryed 2go light)n 2wards bottom is dark(where still aint grown out)had enough of growin it out n wana go a suttle blonde.what would hairdressers do 2do this?.ADVICE please?x

@zoebrown15x First, you have to even out base color, since half is natural and the rest is artificially dyed browns. She/he will likely use a lightener/color remover to remove the box color and create a canvas. Then it will be tinted a complementary uniform shade(whatever you and the stylist agree on and is doable) and highlights may be added. I can't speak for what salon you like, but we consider that color correction and is about $60-80 an hour and takes about 3-4 hours. Hope that helps! :)

When I died my hair back to natural color because my highlights were looking stupid, my hairdresser didn't use tin foil. It was to flippin cold though! I had to get like 3 cups of coffee!

im a professional hairstylist, and you CAN go blonde, depending on how dark you hair is, and how fast you process....it might take a few applications...but i promise you, you can go blonde...i just recommend you get it done by a pro otherwise you might end up with a nasty orange mess..lol...goodluck

@Jessipop99 Hey anybody can get blonde highlights. I would suggest not going to light. Being a dark brunette myself I would suggest caramel highlights it will break up the dark brown but not going too light.

if you want to go blonde choose a bleach suited for you hair like if your brunette get bleach with blue in it , if your a light brown to dark blonde get a neutral bleach , if you have red hair get a bleach with violet in it i hope this helps everyone out who wants to go blonde

i have bleached blond hair and they shiny and healthy.

How? OIL, i use with the bleach on my head and in the mixture, oil, olive oil or avocado oil extra virgin and vitamin E, lots of it, and my hair are just dry in the first couple of days and then are shiny beautiful and from dark brown im a platinum blonde. I don't know why companies don't say to use oil with the bleach and dye or toner, but i use oil and bleaches my hair faster and better. Regural oil, the one u can eat with your salad. :)

Those people are so lame! I have had so many issues with salons doing my hair. The problem is that with most of the salons they don't want to use anything higher then a volume 20 perxiode. If they did they feel like it is going to cause the scalp to bleed and hair to fall off. I have found out my dark brown hair (level 3) can be highlifted using the right products, but it is not so easy to do though.

hmmm...interesting adn helpful, but i don't think it would work as well for some other person who has redder hair or whose skin tone doesn't compliment blonde. for example, i would not consider going blond because i have dark brown/black hair (i am chinese) and i also like oritasho, don't want to mess up my health of my hair......
