This game while looking complicated, looks awesome as well. i like the old style aircraft and techniques needed. i think i will get this game. thanks for the vid, you have a new subscriber
I think you have a little fault in your altitude calculation. The altitude gauge shows you altitude to sea level, now the default ground in france is a bit higher than that. Something between 100 - 200 Meter most of the time
@OvermaxxamrevO Yes, always important to factor in the ground level when setting altitude. Also, @Requiem, you made heading changes after setting the wind calculation. These few degree changes with stronger wind could mean missing target - only matters I guess with smaller bombs. Anyway, I find it best to try and get lined up with the target first and then calculate the wind settings.
@leow626569 Cheers Leow. Be sure to introduce yourself in the forums at riseofflight and meet the community there. Everyone is really helpful to new pilots :-) You won't regret the purchase, there are some great things coming like a new career mode and field mods for the aircraft, so you have bought it at a really good time.
@iafscx If you're in multiplayer in someone elses bomber you cannot control the bombardier role even if you sit in the front gunner position. The bombadier is always the one in control of the aircraft.
At 1:29, you rotate the dial to the right to account for wind coming from the right. Is that right? In the right-hand picture, it looks like the dial is set for 80 degrees Left.
@lwallace79 Rotating the dial to the right aligns for wind from the left and vice versa. Its confusing I know since right now RoF works off where the wind is blowing from, and not where it is blowing to (which you work out).
@sdhubbard Because 777 can't devote zillions of man hours to research and model every specific type of bomb sight used by each nationality involved, they made a generic sight for all bombers. It's calibrated in metric since that's the most common measurement unit in ROF.
Hover the mouse cursor over airspeed and altitude inputs and you get a handy popup conversion table for them on the bomb sight screen, no need to do math, just fine tune interpolate.

LOL why would you need all this fancy stuff, laser guided bombs and GPS? Just bring the old fashion WWI bombsight and drop the bomb by hand x)

that's not true airpeed though. Love the wind

How do you know where the wind is comming from? And how do you know how much the wind speed is?

@bob23yer You can find this information in the briefing before you hit "start" and takeoff.

HUH?!? Cockpit instruments measure in Imperial but the bombsight is metric?!?
tfneuro 11 months ago
@tfneuro This is just an in-game limitation right now as far as I am aware.

did ww1 bombs actually delay their explosion whenever they hit if they did I never knew that
spetsnazjon14 1 year ago
@spetsnazjon14 Yes, delay triggers in artillery and bombs were commonly used as far back at the Napoleonic wars. Mainly for structural destruction.

Wasn't bombing terribly inaccurate back then?

I'm wondering how come they didn't just make the bomb site in imperial units, since all the Handley Page gauges use them.
